Christmas is one of those special occasions (if not the only one out there) that brings the family together, giving each one of us the opportunity to reunite with those 'long time no see' family members.

With the festive season fast approaching, Casualty is also gearing up towards a big family reunion for paramedic Ruby Spark (Maddy Hill) as she will be getting a visit from her estranged sister Violette (Kelly Gough) in a huge Christmas storyline later this year.

A new synopsis for an upcoming episode of the BBC One soap reveals that Ruby's sister Violette will make a surprise appearance at the ED, and will be bringing a huge bombshell with her.

With Ruby and Violette sharing a rocky past, it's not long before they get into a huge fight, and it quickly becomes clear that Christmas doesn't always mean a happy reunion with your family.

In other Casualty news, the BBC One soap recently confirmed to Digital Spy that fan favourite Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) will be back on our screens on January 4, 2020 with a brand new look.

Connie was last seen in August this year when Charlie Fairhead sadly had to dismiss her from the ED after she admitted to her struggle with an addiction to prescription drugs.

However, teasing her character's return earlier this year, Amanda Mealing promised some happier times ahead, explaining: "We are resetting Connie, which is really exciting for me. We've seen her vulnerable side, but I am now pushing to get back into that strong, strident Connie that viewers love."
