Digital Spy article. Neighbours to continue filming:

Neighbours releases update on filming as Melbourne heads back into lockdown
The soap had resumed filming in April with new safety measures.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...irus-lockdown/

Neighbours has given an update on filming as the city of Melbourne goes back into lockdown.

On Tuesday (July 7), Victoria State Premier Daniel Andrews announced the lockdown after 191 new infections were recorded in the state, its highest daily number since the pandemic began.

"We are on the cusp of something very, very bad if we don't take these steps," Andrews said (via BBC News).

"I think a sense of complacency has crept into us as we let our frustrations get the better of us."

Speaking to Huff Post Australia, Neighbours production company Fremantle Australia said that the show would continue filming under "strict health and safety measures".

"Neighbours will continue under its current production model adopted when Stage 3 restrictions were first introduced in Victoria," Fremantle said in a statement.

"The strict health and safety measures we have adhered to for the past 11 weeks will be maintained, ensuring the well-being of our cast and crew remains intact."

The soap resumed filming in April with new safety measures, including having social distancing in place during scenes.

"It's going to look a bit odd. [But] Neighbours is a show that can get away with it," Fremantle Media's chief exec Chris-Oliver Taylor said at the time.

"We employ hundreds of staff who want to work and feel they can. It's important we continue to produce a show that reaches millions of people in the UK and a significant audience in Australia."

Neighbours airs on Channel 5 in the UK and on 10 Peach in Australia.

Am I the only one finding the social distancing/camera close ups and scene fade outs when they start kissing actually really funny?

The scene with Karl and Jane seems green screened too??

This is all because of COVID restrictions. Are you expecting perfection? They're doing their best with what they've got.

I know. I was just saying that I found it funny. I completely understand they have to work around the restrictions and are doing their best.

    Digital Spy article:

Neighbours reveals updated opening credits – with one character gone and three added
    The titles get another shake-up.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...les-july-2020/

Neighbours has revealed an updated version of the show's opening titles, with Digital Spy readers getting an exclusive first look.

The show's credits are ever-changing as characters come and go, so the latest update will take out Elly Conway (Jodi Anasta) following her departure from Ramsay Street.

Jane Harris (Annie Jones) and her daughter Nicolette Stone (Charlotte Chimes) will be added in, following the big news that they're moving to Erinsborough on a permanent basis.

Neighbours bosses have also taken the opportunity to add Clive Gibbons (Geoff Paine) to the titles to reflect his ongoing popularity with fans. Clive isn't currently a full-time regular.

The classic character will continue to appear in Neighbours on a semi-regular basis, with future storylines further exploring his relationship with Sheila Canning (Colette Mann).

Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison exclusively told Digital Spy: "We're thrilled to update the opening titles to include Annie, Charlotte and Geoff.

"While Annie and Charlotte are regular characters, Geoff will continue to be seen on a semi-regular basis, which works very well for us and for him. We've included him in the titles to reflect Dr Clive's importance to the community and we know the fans wanted it too – including fan club president Colette Mann!"

Ever the joker, Geoff Paine also told Digital Spy: "It feels like Clive has a place in the universe. There's no doubt my fans have been heard and I want to thank them both."

On the future for Clive and Sheila, Geoff added: "Shlive will have their ups and downs, and there could be dress-ups and secrets. I'd tell you more but they know where I live."

Neighbours' newest version of the titles will start airing in Australia tomorrow (July 23) and on UK screens in three weeks' time.

Channel 5 viewers will see Elly's departure at the end of next week.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).

Neighbours permitted to continue filming amid heightened COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria
Stage 4 restrictions are now in place across metropolitan Melbourne.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...ions-victoria/

Neighbours has been permitted to continue filming amid heightened COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria

The soap films in the Australian state, which has recently been subjected to tighter coronavirus safety measures amid a spike of cases in the area.

However, TV Tonight has since confirmed Neighbours can continue filming in Victoria under Stage 4 restrictions as one of the industries allowed to remain open with a COVID-Safe Plan ? although this is just a recommendation.

It is possible the soap could still shut down filming on its own accord as an extra precaution, though it does have appropriate safety measures in place to facilitate such filming.

The news comes as Neighbours is currently on a scheduled production break, as confirmed by Sheila Canning actress Colette Mann on Instagram.

"Stage 4 restrictions just as Neighbours has a production break of sorts," she wrote. "So fingers crossed we can go back soon."

The Stage 4 restrictions introduced across metropolitan Melbourne will be in place in for six weeks from Sunday, August 2 until Sunday, September 13. Regional Victoria will return to Stage 3 restrictions from Thursday, August 6.

Digital Spy has reached out for comment to Neighbours about its intended course of action.

Earlier this month, Dipi Rebecchi actress Sharon Johal reassured fans that the soap was "operating with the same considered, strict and extensive safety precautions and protocol" following an initial increase in Australian coronavirus cases.

"Please don't worry, it's 'business as usual' at @neighbours, and by 'usual', I mean this new world 'COVID-19' usual," she told her followers.

Neighbours was the first soap to resume filming amid the pandemic, with many of the soap's cast and crew having returned to work in April.

Neighbours airs on Channel 5 in the UK and 10 Peach in Australia.

Digital Spy article - a new Neighbours trailer:

Neighbours teases dramatic September storylines in new trailer
There's trouble ahead on Ramsay Street.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...er-storylines/

Neighbours spoilers follow for UK and Australian viewers.

Neighbours has given fans a first look at September on Ramsay Street in a new promo.

Channel 5 has released a trailer which previews some of the huge storylines in store for viewers next month.

If you're an Australian viewer, some of these big moments may be airing even sooner, as 10 Peach is currently three weeks ahead of the UK broadcasts.

In upcoming episodes, newcomer Nicolette Stone (Charlotte Chimes) declares her love for Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly) after moving into Number 24.

By this point, Nicolette has agreed to become a live-in carer for Chloe's mum Fay (Zoe Bertram), who has come to Ramsay Street for a visit. Could her revelation sabotage the arrangement?

Meanwhile, Shane Rebecchi (Nicholas Coghlan) will arouse suspicion from his wife Dipi (Sharon Johal) as he continues to take drugs in secret.

The wider drama surrounding the drugs also looks set to affect police officers Levi Canning (Richie Morris) and Yashvi Rebecchi (Olivia Junkeer), while Harlow Robinson (Jemma Donovan) and Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne) find themselves in danger at the school.

Elsewhere, new character Rose (Lucy Durack) is seen making her debut as a personal assistant for Toadie (Ryan Moloney).

Toadie warms to Rose and her humorous attitude when she shows a love for pranks, but when she's later caught trying to break into the lawyer's confidential computer files, it seems she has a hidden agenda.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
