Next week on Casualty, Duffy and Charlie face some very difficult decisions, Rosa makes a controversial move and Rash is left feeling more isolated than ever.

Here is your weekly roundup of all the biggest stories you can expect to see:

1. Duffy's health takes another sad turn

In the wake of the tragic situation with little Charlotte last week, Duffy's health is about to take another very major turn.

When Duffy becomes convinced that she has seen her deceased cat in the garden, Charlie tries to hide his concerns as he explains that Jinny died years ago.

Realising Duffy is having hallucinations, Charlie brings her into the ED, where he addresses his concerns about her symptoms not being connected to her dementia.

Although the team do their best to reassure the couple, Duffy causes more alarm when she can't remember her colleague Marty's name.

2. Charlie has a devastating realisation

After running some tests, Archie later confirms that Duffy is suffering with a urine infection, which has been causing her recent symptoms.

Charlie and Duffy are both shocked to realise how much her health has deteriorated in the last few weeks and start to fear for their rapidly changing future together.

Still determined to care for Duffy on his own, Charlie is given food for thought when he later speaks to a patient about the value of self-care. But will he practice what he preaches?

3. Duffy and Charlie make a difficult decision

As they reel from the day's events, Duffy and Charlie have an emotional – but honest – conversation about their situation.

While Duffy explains that she doesn't want to lose her independence, she also insists that she doesn't want Charlie to lose his either.

Vowing to be there for each other no matter what, Charlie and Duffy they both agree to consider the option of a nursing home to ease the burden a little bit.

4. Rosa discovers her mother's lie...

Newcomer Xiomara can hardly contain her excitement over David and Rosa's engagement next week, but of course, an ominous cloud looms over the duo's impulsive decision.

Tonight's scenes saw Xiomara urge David to pop the question to the porter, falsely claiming that she was seriously ill and wanted to see Rosa settled before she died.

Unsurprisingly, David struggles to keep the news to himself and is soon hinting to a shocked Rosa that all is not as it seems with her mum.

Worried, Rosa later confronts Xiomara, who admits that she hasn't been honest – but insists that her daughter hasn't been either.

5. … and makes a shock move

With Xiomara adamant that David's feelings are the real deal, she urges Rosa not to tell the nurse the truth about her 'illness'.

Firmly believing that the mismatched duo are meant to be, Xiomara encourages Rosa to go along with the lie and marry David regardless.

Despite her uncertainty, Rosa goes along with the farce as her and David announce their not-so-secret engagement to their excited colleagues. But is she making a big mistake by not being honest?

6. Rash faces more setbacks

After a tricky few months, Rash is more eager than ever to prove himself as he takes on an incoming patient. Unfortunately, his determination soon turns to despair when the case proves to be far more complicated than he initially thought.

Struggling to reach a diagnosis, Rash is left further stung when Mason notices a crucial symptom that he had missed.

As Mason researches the symptoms, he becomes convinced that the woman has a rare condition known as Peutz–Jeghers syndrome. However, both he and Rash are horrified when they realise she has upped and left.

7. Mason finally gets his chance to shine

Spotting an opportunity to shine, Mason springs to action following the disappearance of Rash's patient. After following her to a boxing match, Mason manages to come to the rescue in the nick of time; much to the chagrin of Rash – who is forced to watch it all unfold via a live stream on Jade’s mobile.

Back in the ED, Ethan is surprised to learn of Mason’s treatment at the boxing match, and doubly so when he confirms that Mason’s hunch about Peutz-Jeghers syndrome was correct.

But while Mason is elated after his successful day, it's a different story for Rash – who feels more isolated than ever.
