Next week on Casualty, tensions between Ethan and Rash reaching boiling point, while David makes a tragic discovery about Rosa's past.

Here are nine big moments you can look forward to.

1. Rash is still struggling

Determined to put his recent problems with Mason behind him, Rash starts his day off on a positive note and enjoys a pleasant cycle into work.

Unfortunately, a near miss with Ethan in the car park sets the tone for the day and Rash is soon being bombarded with calls from his distressed father, who is having difficulty settling his late mum's estate.

Before long, Rash finds himself back at square one – torn between his divided responsibilities between his personal and professional life, which Mason and Ethan both observe from the sidelines.

Things grow even worse for Rash when he hears that his ex-girlfriend Gem appears to have moved on with someone else abroad and his distracted behaviour is eventually pulled up by a somewhat hypocritical Ethan...

2. Ethan continues to blank Effie

Following his unethical behaviour in tonight's episode, Ethan is also determined to turn over a new leaf next week.

Having made multiple promises to stay away from Effie – both to her dad and his concerned colleague Will – Ethan is serious about sticking to his word and blocks her calls.

When Effie makes another attempt to get in touch, Ethan is forced to reluctantly ignore her message again – but how long will he be able to stay away?

3. Ethan gives Rash a warning

After the aforementioned incident in the carpark, Ethan and Rash continue to clash for the remainder of their shift together – as their dual personal problems start to collide.

Having witnessed Rash making a number of personal calls, Ethan makes his feelings known and warns him to buck up his ideas.

With the pair about to come to blows, they are given bigger things to worry about when a patient of Rash's rapidly deteriorates and suddenly goes into cardiac arrest.

Although the team do eventually manage to stabilise him, Ethan is furious that Rash had missed something major and gives him another stern warning.

4. Rash lashes out

As Rash's day continues to go from bad to worse, the animosity between him and Ethan reaches an all-time high.

Having been forced to postpone an important meeting with his supervisor following more demands from Ethan, Rash is furious when he is chastised by his senior colleague again.

As all the tension of the last few weeks comes to a head, Ethan infuriates Rash by insisting that he stops letting his personal problems impact his job. Already enraged by the accusations, Rash lashes out and punches Ethan when he brings his late mother into the equation. Has Rash just made a monumental mistake?

5. David makes a discovery about Rosa

David is also left in a bit of a pickle next week when he makes an intriguing discovery about his new flatmate Rosa.

When he stumbles across a letter in the porter's bag, David realises that Rosa has told her mum that she is in a settled relationship with an exaggerated romantic hero, also called David.

As David questions Rosa over her fibs, he is further shocked to find out that Rosa's mother now wants to come and meet him. Will he go along with the farce?

6. Rosa reveals her tragic backstory

As David questions Rosa over why she feels the need to hide the truth when it comes to her mum, he is not quite prepared for what she says in response.

Wanting to be honest, Rosa opens up to David about a tragic secret from her past – explaining that her mum has simply worried about her welfare ever since.

Rosa also states that, while the fabricated version of David she has drafted up might not be real, what she feels for their family unit with Ollie is – prompting him to make a big decision.

7. Ollie reveals his fears

After another angry outburst, David's teenage son Ollie reiterates his earlier worries about having bipolar during a conversation with Rosa.

As Rosa tries to reassure an anxious Ollie, their heart-to-heart is overheard by David – who is horrified to realise just how distressed the schoolboy is.

After promising Ollie that they can tackle anything together, he berates Rosa for keeping him in the dark. But can he forgive her?

8. Duffy starts her new job

Duffy is full of enthusiasm as she begins her new role as a hospital volunteer, but it's not long before the strain starts to take its toll on her.

As Duffy grows increasingly exhausted while carrying out her tasks, she ends up falling asleep in the relative's room – much to Charlie's concern.

Seeing how much Duffy is struggling, Charlie is forced to agree with Robyn that it is simply too much work for her to take on at this stage. Will Duffy agree?

9. Charlie feels let down

Aware that Duffy needs more professional help, Charlie grows increasingly frustrated by the lack of resources in the NHS – especially given how much his hard-working wife has given to the system over the years.

With Charlie not in a position to afford private care either, he starts to crack under the pressure of everything. Will Robyn be able to support him?

Casualty airs these scenes on Saturday, October 26 on BBC One.
