    It himself without bitchy Elly.

Digital Spy's expanded spoilers are now available:

    Monday 30 Sept

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...es-a-backlash/

Devastated by hearing Shane's part in her family's disintegration, Mackenzie pushes him away and flees. After being told what Shane has done, Yashvi finds Mackenzie to make sure she's okay. Instead of helping, Yashvi makes it all about her, which angers Mackenzie further.

Dipi finds Mackenzie seeking comfort in her favourite place – the butterfly park. Dipi admits it was hard for her to hear about what Shane did, but he isn't the person he was back in Bourke. But the betrayal runs too deep for Mackenzie. She feels like Shane used her to assuage his guilt. Dipi lets Mackenzie know that she's not alone, even if she does face another rejection by her father. Mackenzie takes this on board, but she is too hurt to even consider speaking to Shane.

At the same time, Shane is not coping with his guilt. He feels intense shame, which is reinforced by Yashvi telling him how ashamed she is of him. Shane is so affected that he leaves work, only to have Dipi tell him Mackenzie can't forgive him. Shane is hitting rock bottom.

Meanwhile, Yashvi is upset over what's happened between Shane and Mackenzie and seeks comfort from Ned, who can't take the time off work to be with her. Scarlett plays them both, making Yashvi out to be immature, while telling Yashvi that Ned is not supporting her like he should. When Ned comes through for his girlfriend, planning to leave work early and meet her, Scarlett has to come up with another way to get between them. She decides to use Ned's protective instinct for Bea against him.

Before Bea's gig at The Waterhole, Scarlett sabotages her microphone lead – fraying it near where it connects to the amp. She calls Ned to The Waterhole on the pretext of a work mix-up, but when he arrived, admits that she made a mistake. She suggests he should stay for a drink, but Ned is annoyed, just wants to head out to see Yashvi.

Just as he heads for the door, Bea plugs her microphone into the jack and receives a nasty electric shock. Her hand is fused to the lead by the current. Ned breaks the connection with a bar stool and Bea falls to the ground, unconscious. Will she survive?

Ned leaps to Bea's rescue as she lies unconscious after receiving an electric shock during her performance. Scarlett watches her plan unfold as she prompts Ned to rush Bea to hospital, making him forget about his meeting with Yashvi. Finn and Susan are rocked by the incident, terrified of losing Bea. They call Elly, who gets on the plane from Sydney immediately.

Everyone is hugely relieved when Bea wakes up and thank Ned for acting so quickly to save her, but the mystery remains as to how the shocking event happened in the first place.

Elly arrives and despite initial awkwardness with Shaun, she is happy to see Bea and has a sweet family moment with her baby daddy to-be. Back at The Waterhole, Kyle discovers Bea's microphone cord was frayed, apparently because of wear and tear. He reports faulty equipment was the most likely cause, but Bea's confusion is piqued – she always so fastidious about checking her gear.

Meanwhile, Yashvi remains oblivious to all that is happening and goes looking for Ned after he fails to show for their date. Before she can find him, Scarlett intercepts her and reports a warped version of what happened. Scarlett plays down the seriousness of Bea's condition while highlighting that Ned was anxious to help Bea and left Yashvi in the dark.

With her jealousy piqued, Yashvi confronts Ned who, thinking Yashvi has heard the full story, can't believe her selfishness. Yashvi is stung but when Dipi later fills her in on what really happened, she's gravely concerned for her friend and sheepish about her jealousy. Unfortunately, it's too little too late for Ned. He's sick of her immature attitude and tells Yashvi he needs a break from their relationship. It seems Scarlett is successfully tearing the couple apart, but can anyone stop her?

    Wednesday 2 Oct

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...worrying-news/

Elly is distraught and overwhelmed by Bea's condition, but Shaun is there to offer comfort. Elly is grateful for Shaun's excellent support and the pair feel their bond growing stronger. However, when Shaun misconstrues advice from Susan, telling him to take Elly's lead, he misreads the situation and asks Elly how she'd feel about a relationship. She's thrown, insisting their connection shouldn't be romantic.

Shaun is mortified by his mistake and Elly worries their bond has been compromised. She confides in Aaron and David, with the latter being very suspicious of Shaun and accusing him of taking advantage of Elly's fragile state.

David is wary after hearing Shaun's mysterious phone call last week and witnessing him hide some paperwork. He takes it upon himself to snoop through Shaun's things and discovers a secret custody contract, which he gives to Elly. Is Shaun trying to take Elly's baby?

Meanwhile, Bea remains in hospital recovering from her "accident" at The Waterhole when she suddenly clutches her chest and feels her heart racing. David reports that the incident has left Bea with heart arrhythmia, a condition that will need ongoing observation and possible medication.

Scarlett is supporting a downcast Ned during his break from Yashvi and using the opportunity to get closer to him. When she hears about Bea's condition, Scarlett is shaken, as she never thought sabotaging the microphone cable could be so serious. She convinces Ned to visit Bea in hospital, anxiously tagging along and gifting Bea a ridiculously oversized teddy bear. Bea is baffled by the gesture and starts to grow suspicious of this random person hanging around her bestie's boyfriend. Is Bea going to catch Scarlett out?

Later, Amy finds a photo of Ned and Kyle that Scarlett has dropped and ripped on Ned's side and jumps to the conclusion that Scarlett has a crush on Kyle. Kyle dismisses Amy's concerns, but she remains uncomfortable with Scarlett in the house. Will Amy confront her?

Elsewhere, Mark realises dating the wild child of Erinsborough isn't all it's cracked up to be as he and Roxy step out on a public date. They head to The Waterhole for breakfast and Mark is affronted by Roxy's natural exhibitionism. Roxy's keen to get Mark to join in the fun and when Mark refuses Roxy's challenge to down his drink, Roxy stands on the pool table until he relents, earning disconcerted looks from patrons and management.

Sheila can see the parallels between Mark's relationship with Roxy and his relationship with Paige and suggests to Roxy she and Mark won't last unless something gives. Roxy is put out by Sheila's opinion, but when an uncomfortable Mark admits he's used to more conservative dates, Roxy's given pause. Should she start toning it down?

    Thursday 3 Oct

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...mself-to-elly/

Confronted by David's revelation that Shaun has secret legal documents regarding custody arrangements for the baby, Elly demands an explanation. Shaun reveals that his mother instigated the entire thing and that he has no plans to demand a legal agreement with Elly. To prove it, he burns the agreement and explains to Elly that he plans to relocate to Erinsborough to support her and the baby.

When Elly reports Shaun's explanation to David and Aaron in order to reassure them, David clings to his suspicions, earning Elly's ire. Realising he has invested too much in someone else's life and that this stems from his feelings about Leo, David apologises to both Elly and Shaun and promises to back off in future.

Meanwhile, heading to the wine-tasting event at The 82, Mark is thrown to see Roxy dressed in a buttoned-up conservative style. Roxy insists she's just trying a new look, but it's clear she has been affected by his comments yesterday. Eager to prove they can work, she is putting on a refined version of Roxy Willis.

At the same time, Gary worries as Sheila wallows at home in singlesville and encourages her to get out of the house and come to the wine-tasting. Rallied, Sheila agrees to frock up and come out, only to be devastated when she runs into Clive and his new girlfriend – Dr Beverly Robinson. As Karl serenades the wine tasters, tension brews everywhere.

Roxy pulls out all the stops to prove she can be toned down and sophisticated, but her efforts only serve to underline how mismatched she is to Mark. Mark is irritated by the act Roxy's putting on, as Sheila keeps an eagle eye on Beverly and Clive, brooding over her competition. Sheila's emotions flare when Beverly accidentally bumps into her and, certain it was on purpose, Sheila throws a glass of red wine in Beverly's face.

Mark has taken to drowning his sorrows and his irritation and unhappiness leak out in numerous small insults aimed at Roxy, witnessed by an alarmed Chloe. Roxy's fake sophistication becomes too much for Mark and the night culminates in a drunk Mark loudly and publicly telling Roxy to stop trying so hard - he could never be in a relationship with her.

    Friday 4 Oct

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...-roxy-too-far/

Humiliated Roxy retreats home, only to break down when Harlow launches into their usual faux-sisterly schtick. Harlow encourages Roxy to be angry, not sad when she hears the full story, and there's a strong sense Roxy is done with Mark.

Chloe is also furious with her brother for his horrible treatment of Roxy, letting him know he's firmly in the wrong. Mark acknowledges his poor behaviour the next day, taking Roxy flowers and sincerely apologising for his ugliness. Sheila and Harlow are worried witnesses to Roxy's ready forgiveness, and they counsel her to hang onto her dignity and self respect by ending things with Mark. Knowing they're right, Roxy gives Mark his marching orders.

Confiding in Chloe afterwards, Mark confesses he feels lost and doesn't know what he wants anymore. His introspection is cut short by a disturbing phone call from Tyler – Fay has gone missing.

Meanwhile, with school starting back soon, Pierce challenges Hendrix – if he can get a job interview with his meagre qualifications, Pierce will consider letting him leave school. Hendrix turns on the charm but fails to get a single job interview, reluctantly conceding he needs to go back to school. Having struck out with admissions offices all over Melbourne, Pierce turns to Susan for professional advice. She suggests Hendrix sit an exam to gauge his academic standard, since his previous records are suspect due to his cheating.

Hendrix sweats bullets over the exam but is unable to finish, leaving Susan alarmed. She advises Pierce that Hendrix will require a great deal of support to be ready to face Year 12 but offers him a position at Erinsborough High. When Pierce breaks the news to his son, Hendrix blows up, angry at the thought of attending a non-elite school. But Pierce remains firm: Hendrix can act out all he likes, but he will be attending Erinsborough High.

Haven't seen the episode yet but sounds like Mark being a massive jerk towards Roxy. I like Roxy she acts brash and cocky but she's really very sensitive and romantic. Deserves much better than Mark.

Not much written about McKenzie and transgenda issue.. assuming it's too sensitive for discussion.

My issue last week was the way they turned on her dad over the school dance.

It was far too raw and soon in my opinion for those who are in McKenzies circle to expect him to make such a big gesture for a public showing when the story line was depicting his struggles to come to terms with the issue.

He has got a long way to go to accept (if he wants too) and has not been part of the journey (his choice we know) ... in McKenzies big steps in the transition.

I felt it was unfair to demonise him so quickly and publicly in a two minute plot just to make a point of trying to emphasise him as the villain (ok ... storyline depicting the outcomes) ... and Shane's festering looks at all and sundry.
