Digital Spy's expanded Neighbours spoilers are now available:

    Mon 12 Aug

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...n-the-balance/

Elly is confronted by Chloe's suggestion they give dating a go, but she is whisked away to deal with work drama, leaving Chloe at a loose end. Susan has organised a meeting with irate school mum Angela Lane, hoping to assuage her concerns about Elly's ability to be a responsible teacher. But Angela refuses to back down, insisting Elly isn't a suitable role model for the students and calls for her removal.

Having witnessed the heated exchange between the women, Kirsha fears Susan will have to fire Elly. Elly is on the verge of resigning, until Kirsha joins forces with Angela's daughter, Lacy, and they both present Susan with a petition to keep Ms Conway at school.

Elly is touched by the support and Angela agrees to let her daughter remain at the school. Buoyed by her win at work, Elly returns to Chloe and says yes to a date.

Meanwhile, Bea pleads for Ned's help to stop Alfie from harassing Finn but Ned refuses. Given their history, Ned can't intimidate anyone for her. But Yashvi can't help feeling responsible for the predicament Bea finds herself in and is worried about her.

Bea steals Finn's glasses and tries bartering with Alfie to leave Finn alone. Alfie seemingly backs down, but Yashvi discovers he's planning to break into the Kennedy house while the music festival is on. Unable to alert the police without causing more trouble for Finn, and unwilling to warn Bea – who is due to give the performance of her life shortly – Yashvi takes matters into her own hands and heads to the Kennedy house, ready to face the intruder. She's poised at the door with Karl's guitar as a weapon when it opens. Yashvi swings the guitar, stunned to discover she has knocked out Susan.

Elsewhere, the mad rush to get ready for the Live at Lassiters Music Festival throws Pierce and Chloe into each other's orbit. Pierce accuses Chloe of focusing on someone else in order to avoid him. However, Chloe insists she knows what she wants and he's not it.

Pierce regrets letting Chloe go in the first place, and it seems all hope for a future with her is lost when he sees Chloe and Elly make plans for their date.

The Live @ Lassiters Music Festival is under way. Amid excited families attending the event, Gary is once again reminded of Amy's desire for children when he sees how caring she is towards Hugo. At the same time, Amy is frosty towards Kyle after he "admitted" he doesn't love her. But when Kyle clocks Amy's disappointment at having to miss Hanson's performance to attend a wedding meeting with Gary, Kyle's mind ticks over.

Later, Amy finds herself discussing families and children with Pierce, who lets slip that Kyle, someone who wants children, is still in love with her. Amy has a meltdown and vents to Gary about this revelation. Seeing the conflict it's causing her, a heartbroken Gary realises she is in love with Kyle.

Reeling, Gary prepares to confront his son but discovers Kyle has organised a private Hanson performance for Amy. Gary is forced to recognise that Kyle is the right person for Amy and, with a heavy heart, breaks up with her so she can be with Kyle. Amy and Kyle come together and slow dance as Hanson serenade them – the tragic end of one romance is the beginning of another.

Meanwhile, Karl and Susan are dismayed Finn kept the story about Alfie a secret from them and are wary of his relationship with Bea, who was complicit in maintaining the lie. Susan and Karl issue Finn with an ultimatum – he can only continue to stay with the Kennedys if he tells the police everything. Bea protests, knowing it could put Finn's freedom in jeopardy, but a remorseful Finn accepts he has to bite the bullet. He assures Bea that everything will be okay.

Finn reports his story to Mark at the station but is thrown when Mark tells him he can't leave. Due to his strict sentencing conditions, he'll be kept in remand until the police speak to Alfie and his alleged aggressive behaviour can be reviewed. Finn's terrified, the future of his freedom now called into question.

Elsewhere, Yashvi confesses everything to her parents – her involvement with the Dark Tours, Aflie, and how that ultimately led to the assault on Susan. Appalled, Shane and Dipi give Yashvi a tongue-lashing for her poor decision-making, but Ned swiftly comes to her defence.

Ned argues Yashvi is young and allowed to make mistakes and questions their need to bite Yashvi's head off when she has already recognised she has made a mistake. Ned's words leave Shane stunned. Has Ned put his foot in it and put his potential father-in-law offside for good?

Mark regretfully informs Finn he'll have to go into holding overnight while they wait for the OPP to decide what to do. This is a huge blow for Finn, but it gets even worse when Alfie's statement comes through and it contradicts his own, falsely accusing Finn of repeatedly punching him. Now that the case is even more complicated, Mark is forced to send Finn to a remand centre in the city, where he will be locked up with other criminals.

Afraid he's about to lose everything, Finn's anxiety overwhelms him and he falls victim to a panic attack. Finn's predicament weighs heavily on Karl and Susan, who feel they've let him down. Just as the moment comes for Finn to transfer to the city remand centre, Toadie comes back from negotiations with the OPP, having secured an alternative: house arrest.

Mark claps an ankle bracelet on Finn that will alert the police if he strays further than 50 metres from the Kennedy house. All Finn has to do now is stay home and wait it out. But could that be easier said than done?

Meanwhile, excited to enjoy the romance, Amy and Kyle decide they don't want to wait any longer to start their relationship. Needing space from the Canning house, Amy resolves to move out, but Gary tells her there's no need to rush.

At the same time, still paying penance for her moral crimes, Sheila feels like an outcast. When Clive returns from his trip, Sheila is relieved to finally have someone in her corner. However, Clive isn't aware of the fresh conflict between Sheila and Gary. When Gary reveals Sheila believed he was guilty of assaulting Paul, and hid evidence from the police, Clive is shocked Sheila kept the truth from him so that she could feel better about herself. Clive breaks up with her, leaving Sheila distraught.

Elsewhere, after admitting to throwing Gary under the bus, guilty Roxy is hanging her head low around town. Yearning to help her niece, Terese extends the olive branch again by inviting Roxy to move back in to Number 22. Embarrassed, Roxy dismisses the idea, leaving Harlow confused. She thinks Roxy should be embracing Terese's generous support, not throwing it in her face.

When Harlow learns Roxy hasn't even apologised to Gary, Harlow calls out Roxy's immature behaviour. Guilty, Roxy tries to apologise to Gary but fails to express the depth of her regret. Her apology is not accepted. Roxy has got a long way to go to redeem herself but Terese isn't giving up – she has called in some help.

Having hit rock bottom, Sheila is an absolute mess. Stumbling upon her in fits of tears, Amy's heart goes out to her, especially when she sees Gary's complete lack of sympathy. Still furious at Sheila, Gary offers nothing but the cold shoulder and Amy fears what life will be like for the pair of them in Number 26 alone. Adamant they need a buffer, Amy seeks Kyle's opinion on her staying in the house for the time being. The idea alarms Kyle at first, but after seeing how badly Gary needs friendship right now, he comes around and gives his blessing.

Sheila isn't giving up on Clive so easily. Making a grand romantic gesture, Sheila hijacks the PA system at the hospital to declare her love for Clive to all and sundry. The public stunt is met with frustration and Clive sadly reiterates their break-up still stands. It seems her world is getting lonelier by the minute, until Amy proposes her plan to Gary and Sheila.

Amy's idea receives a warm welcome, but Amy's immediately dismayed by the still cold disdain Gary has toward Sheila. Bridging this divide will be far more difficult than Amy had anticipated.

Meanwhile, Roxy is unimpressed to find Gemma is back in town. Having been called by Terese, Gemma is committed to getting Roxy back on the right track and under Terese's roof again. With their share house bursting at the seams, Aaron and Leo encourage the prospect of Roxy moving out, but it's only when Gemma dispels Roxy's belief that she's a bad person that Roxy comes around.

Gemma's words inspire Roxy to apologise to Gary properly and this time Gary takes her remorse on board. The tide is turning for Roxy and she takes Terese up on her offer to move back in. But it's not long before Roxy and Harlow are at odds with each other.

Incensed by Roxy's expectation that Terese will wait on her hand and foot now that she's back, Harlow calls out Roxy's horrendous attitude. Terese breaks up the rumble, but it's clear these two are not going to play nice. Will Terese regret having them under the same roof?

    Fri 16 Aug

As a gesture of goodwill, Terese offers the feuding Harlow and Roxy use of Piper's old car, Hermione. As Harlow doesn't yet have her driver's license, Terese offers to teach her how to drive and Harlow is touched. However, Roxy believes Terese has gifted Hermione exclusively for her own use.

Roxy is appalled to discover she has to share the car and defiantly gives it a garish make-over, aware Harlow wouldn't be seen dead in it now. However, after a chat with Paul, Harlow refuses to back down and reveals her own addition to Hermione, marking the car as both hers and Roxy's. This battle appears to be over, but the war has just begun.

Meanwhile, Chloe is excited about her upcoming date with Elly, but Aaron fears she's overinvesting and is going to get hurt. He's also worried about Mark, who is working hard to convince everyone he is fine with his sister and ex-wife dating. Aaron goes to Elly and asks that she not use Chloe as a guinea pig to test the waters of dating women, leaving Elly confronted by the notion.

Chloe organises a glorious, romantic afternoon floating on the Yarra for the pair, but Elly takes the opportunity to admit she's never thought about her sexuality in much depth before and it's starting to overwhelm her. Chloe is a rational, empathetic ear and assures Elly that she doesn't have to label herself – her only task is to enjoy their date. Elly's comforted by Chloe's take and their intense connection is clear. Sparks fly, leading to a passionate kiss.

Ha, true, but none of the people sharing have high paid jobs. Only David could feasibly manage it himself but he'd probably be broke at the end of the month.

There are TV presenters on Aussie TV (looking at you, 34yr old Tommy Little of nightly show The Project) who still have housemates. One contestant on Masterchef this year, a 26yr old Financial Analyst, was also talking about having housemates.

Houses are expensive. Have a look on realestate.com.au for a 3 bedroom in Melbourne ($1.5m+) or a 2 bedroom apartment in Sydney (even a 1 bedroom in the city centre is close to $1m). Mind blowing. Out of reach for so many. When I lived in a Sydney suburb, briefly, my rent of a room in a share house was $500 a week.

oh poor Gary. I know he's a complete tool but he is forever being humiliated in his love life. Can't they find him someone nice?

Also I don't like the Ned/Yashvi relationship - it just doesn't work at all.

I also don't like it. Assume he's about 27/28? She's maybe 10yrs younger. It's not too long ago he was in love with his stepmother and now a schoolgirl. It just feels a bit creepy. I am surprised her parents are fine with it.

    I think he’s 23 in the show, she’s 18.
