EastEnders has cast Amy Robbins for a guest stint on the show.

Robbins, known for playing Dr Jill Weatherill on The Royal between 2003 and 2011, will be playing a new character when she steps onto Albert Square later this summer (via The Sun).

The actress is no stranger to soapland, having appeared in Casualty and Doctors. She also played Lynette Drinkwell on Hollyoaks in 2017.

This month will also see the return of Adam Woodyatt as Ian Beale. Ian has been away since the start of the year, but will be back in the week commencing Monday, June 24.

EastEnders is not on air tonight as a result of the FIFA Women's World Cup, with England playing Argentina.

But the BBC soap did air twice last night (June 13) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm, allowing viewers to still get exactly the same number of episodes this week as they would usually.

Thursday's double bill saw Bobby Beale return to the Square, after a three-year stint in custody for killing his sister Lucy.
