Former Coronation Street star Christopher Harper will be swapping Weatherfield for Holby, as the actor has been confirmed for a Holby City guest role.

Harper, known for playing the evil Nathan Curtis, appears on next Tuesday's episode (February 12) of the medical drama series as Michael Cartwright, who from the sounds of it, will be a much more likeable character.

Michael is the father of Holly (Emma Curtis), a teen patient at the hospital.

Holly has been seen being treated by Ange (Dawn Steele) and Chloe Goddard (Amy Lennox), but next week will see her condition become more serious as her distraught parents must put their differences aside to make a heartbreaking decision.

Harper played Nathan Curtis between December 2016 and February 2018. Following his exit, which saw Nathan jailed after grooming Bethany Platt for his depraved sex ring, Harper became an ambassador for Barnado's.

Holby City will be introducing a new member of staff this spring when Ramin Karimloo joins the cast as Kian Madani, described as an "old medical school nemesis of Jac Naylor".

Meanwhile, former star Joe McFadden – who left in 2017 – has said that he would be open to making a brief ghostly return as Raf.

Holby City airs Tuesdays on BBC One.
