Derek and Eugene had one of their pool chats in which they discuss the Housemates, but this time they ended up bitching about themselves.

After assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the others they described themselves as "dull".

To Derek's surprise Eugene said, "Anthony I can get on with reasonably well."

Derek was not convinced. "I like him more now," he said. "But I still think he's behaved very badly. You can't get more than five or eight bars out of him, if you know what I mean."

"Makosi is interesting about Africa and her life as a nurse..." ventured Eugene.

But Derek didn't find her nursing stories interesting, due to his own experiences and was more interested in the political situation in Harare, which she wouldn't discuss with him.

Derek asked how Eugene got on with Orlaith. Eugene got on with her quite well. A pattern was emerging.

"A very strange girl," Derek concluded.

But the boys reserved their most damning statements for themselves. "I perceive myself as quite dull," said Eugene.

"I do," said Derek. "I am a strong character, but I am still dull."

Self-bitching. Remember where you read it first.
