    Exclamation EastEnders Spoilers 2019

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/eas...-2019-teasers/

EastEnders' new boss Kate Oates has offered some early teasers on her plans for the show in 2019.

Oates has taken over as senior executive producer at the BBC soap following her successful stints in charge of Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

Speaking to Digital Spy and others at an EastEnders Christmas press event this week, Oates named some characters worth keeping an eye on in the New Year.

"It's going to be a big year for the Slaters," she explained. "Jean's going to have a bit of a new challenge coming her way, but she may find that it's the best thing that ever happened to her. There's some fun stuff to challenge her there, along with Lacey [Turner, who plays Stacey].

"We're bringing Mitch back. A secret that he's bringing with him – a little surprise – will be a little bomb to go off in the Taylor family. We're stretching that family as ever. They're going to be as rowdy and larger-than-life as you have come to love them.

"We're also going to be playing more of that amazing love triangle that Keanu has fallen into. It's going to get really messy. Sharon does not know what she's unleashed, but maybe she won't be the one who ends up with his heart, so we'll see how that ends up."

Oates has recently been working alongside John Yorke, who stands down as executive consultant at the end of this week.

It's already been announced that Casualty story producer Jon Sen will be moving over to EastEnders as executive producer, helping to execute Oates's vision for the show.

Oates added: "I'm really excited to be here. I'm having a really nice time. I'm really excited about next year and I'm excited to work with Jon Sen. I think he's going to be a fantastic exec for the show."

EastEnders has cast a brand new trio of brothers who are heading to Walford later this year – and they soon find themselves clashing with an existing Albert Square clan! The Panesars are a British Asian family of the Sikh faith and are formed of siblings Kheerat, Jags and Vinny. The show describes the brothers as ‘charming by nature – but a force to be reckoned with’ and has teased that they will immmediately get on the wrong side of an established family in the area.

The Panesars will arrive in autumn.

Exclamation New bi-sexual character to be introduced

EastEnders story editor Ben Wadey has revealed the soap's plans to introduce a new bisexual character.

Wadey posted on Twitter on Thursday (September 5) to announce the news in somewhat cryptic fashion.

"Been great to see all the positive reaction to LGBTQ+ representation on EastEnders recently, and excited for us to have a new B in the show soon," he wrote.

The 'B' in Wadey's tweet is obviously referring to the 'bisexual' in LGBTQ+ and, while he doesn't specifically state it, it seems safe to assume he's talking about the addition of a new character.

The BBC soap has been working to increase LGBTQ+ inclusivity on the show, having recently introduced Walford's first gay bar.

Back in January, the soap's boss Kate Oates discussed her plans improve to its LGBTQ+ representation, explaining that the new bar would act as a cool alternative to the Queen Vic.

"I'm really interested in bringing some more LGBTQ characters in," the producer told The Sun. "We're looking at opening a gay bar on the Square which will be a super-cool precinct where gay and straight characters can all just hang out."

She added: "It's an important move for the show to authentically reflect modern London life."

If it's a woman they could call her Sonia; if it's a man they could call him Callum.
