EastEnders is going to be introducing you to a pair of sisters in the New Year — one of whom, soap fans will probably recognise.

Newcomer Priya Davdra will make her TV debut along with former Hollyoaks star Rukku Nahar in 2019 as Iqra and Habiba Ahmed, the granddaughters of Mariam (Indira Joshi) and Arshad (Madhav Sharma).

These two will most definitely be causing trouble from the get-go in Walford because they're hiding the real reason why they've decided to move to the Square in the first place. Before long, their real motives come to light.

Iqra is described as being "no-nonsense, bold and intelligent", but her clear-cut plan for moving to Walford is quickly complicated by her sister's meddling.

“EastEnders was such a big part of my life growing up and I couldn’t be more excited to be joining the show," Davdra said. "Walking on to the set for the first time was such an amazing experience. I can’t wait for viewers to meet the sisters and see how much drama they’re going to cause.”

Iqra's sibling Habiba can't seem to escape trouble wherever she goes, even though her bubbly personality and heart always seem to shine through.

“I’m so excited to have joined EastEnders, it’s a show I’ve grown up watching and stepping onto Albert Square is just unreal," Nahar said. "Habiba is great fun to play and I’m so happy to be working alongside Priya. Can’t wait for you all to see what we get up to on the Square.”

Nahar is probably best known for playing Hunter McQueen's girlfriend Asha Kaur in Hollyoaks. Her exit scenes only recently aired, with Asha having left the village with Hunter to live in Brighton.
