    Monday 7 Jan

Xanthe feels guilty about the lengths Gary went to in order to help secure her university fees. She sticks to her guns and decides to apply to nurses courses at Eden Hills university, instead of taking up her place studying medicine in Toowoomba.
Trying her best to make sure Xanthe doesn’t do something she’ll regret, Sheila places a phone call to Ben and asks him to persuade Xanthe to follow her dreams.

Ben tries his best – reminding Xanthe how far she’s come – but it takes an impassioned speech from Gary to convince Xanthe that he needs her to go or everything he did will be for nothing. It's the kick Xanthe needs, so she tells her family she’s moving away to attend university and become a doctor.

Meanwhile, wanting to apologise properly to Dipi for hospitalising her, Gary sneaks over to the house to share some of his trademark desserts as a peace offering and is pleased when Dipi accepts his gesture.

After the two bond over their love of cooking, Gary returns the following day with his recipe book but Shane catches him in the house and loses his cool. He doesn’t want Gary anywhere near Dipi and man-handles Gary off his property. Gary is embarrassed when Amy sees him hurled onto the street.

Xanthe hates saying goodbye to her friends and family, but she’s also excited to follow her dreams. Xanthe and Piper promise to stay in touch no matter what. Xanthe contemplates going to see Finn to deliver the message that he didn’t stop her achieving her goals, but quickly realises she doesn’t need to. He’s nothing to her – she’s free of him.

Xanthe seeks out Sheila and they share a heart-warming moment – for Xanthe, home will always be wherever Sheila is. Xanthe bids a bittersweet farewell to Ramsay Street, proud of how far she’s come and the exciting future ahead of her.

Meanwhile, Amy can’t believe Shane would manhandle Gary in such an aggressive way. She tends to Gary’s grazes, prompting him to be hopeful that her love and care is a sign that she is willing to reconcile. However, their tender moment is interrupted when the boss responsible for Gary’s dodgy deliveries shows up, demanding to be told where the solar inverters got to.

Gary flounders, but Amy steps up, turning on a show of ice-cold strength as she turns the tables and sends the thug packing. Moved by Amy sticking up for him, Gary is given further hope that Amy may be on the brink of forgiving him for his mistakes. However, Gary is dealt a devastating blow when Amy tells him that she loves him, but he broke her trust and she can’t get past that. They’re over.

Elsewhere, Bea approaches her first gig at The Waterhole determined to push past the critical voice of Liz in the back of her mind and make it a success. However, a cantankerous Sheila piques her insecurities, making Bea doubt herself again. It turns out Sheila is actually upset about Xanthe’s departure, but it takes a pep talk from Ned to help Bea rise to the challenge and perform brilliantly. Bea is thrilled with how the gig went and, in a loved-up state, wants to celebrate with some romance between the sheets… much to Ned’s delight.

Needing time out after her break-up with Gary, Amy decides to visit New York to see Jimmy. She’ll be moving out of the Canning house when she returns. Sheila begs Amy to reconsider the break-up, arguing that what she has with Gary is rare and worth fighting for. Allowing her guard to slip momentarily with Elly, Amy admits that she still loves Gary – but she can’t keep forgiving men who break her trust.

Amy resolves to put head before heart and prioritise her own wellbeing for once. With Amy standing by her decision and heading off overseas, Sheila tells Gary he has a choice to make. He can wallow or he can get his act together before Amy returns and fight to change her mind.

Meanwhile, Fay arrives for a visit and Chloe dreads having to reveal her Huntington’s diagnosis. Aaron pushes her to have the difficult conversation, believing it’s unfair on Fay to keep her in the dark, but Chloe continually avoids the conversation. She’s not ready and wants to enjoy Fay’s visit without a dark cloud looming over them.

Chloe realises she has to bite the bullet when Fay senses something is up. Chloe first reveals her Cash4Company secret but chickens out when it comes to revealing her diagnosis.

Elsewhere, when Fay encourages Mark to look into his chances of returning to the police force, Mark seeks advice from Toadie about appealing his termination. Toadie thinks it’s a long shot but reports to Mark that there is hope – they just need to find a convincing argument to base the appeal on. Toadie suggests they bring up Mark’s state of mind at the time of his transgressions – he was in despair over losing Caitlin.

Mark outright refuses: there’s no way he’s using Caitlin’s death as an excuse. Sonya understands Mark doesn’t like using their tragedy in such a way, but she truly believes this is an opportunity to honour their daughter and encourages him to do whatever he can to return to the job he adored. Buoyed by Sonya’s words, Mark agrees to take Toadie’s advice.

Susan still can’t shake her thoughts of Finn and the tragic past he endured as a young man. She seeks out his brother Shaun to learn more about Finn’s background and family.

Shaun is happy to fill Susan in, giving her a letter written by Finn during his imprisonment. He also explains the dynamic between Finn and his mother and step-father that led to him being abandoned to kidnappers.

Susan is then busted by Bea, who’s stunned that she is still pursuing information on Finn’s past.

Meanwhile, Chloe confronts her mother with terrible news.

Elsewhere, Leo is pushed to make a dangerous choice.

    Fri 11 Jan

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...rrible-danger/

Leo is unwittingly in peril as Delaney's family arrive in Erinsborough and seek revenge.

Meanwhile, Mark lays it on the line with Chloe.

Elsewhere, as Susan prepares to head to Sydney for her MS trial, she tries to explain to Bea why she was compelled to meet with Shaun again. She also decides to post Shaun’s letter back.

As Susan leaves for Sydney, Bea is left with the unposted letter in her possession. Seeing the hotel address on the front of the letter, Bea decides to make contact with Shaun herself. But what is her game plan?
