    Exclamation Ronan Truman

Coronation Street paves the way for a shock death next week, as Adam Barlow gets a blast from the past.

Adam (Samuel Robertson) is in for a shock when he's suddenly collared by drug dealer Ronan Truman, a guest character who previously appeared briefly last year.

Corrie fans may remember that Ronan was a dodgy guy who'd made a career out of dealing class-A drugs. Adam first crossed paths with him in February 2017 and later found himself in danger when they tried to make a deal.

Next week, Ronan confronts Adam and reveals that he's looking for someone to help his son Cormac, who's just been released from Young Offenders.

Ronan wants someone to give Cormac a job, so Adam convinces Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) to hire him as a dish-washer at the Bistro.

Ryan Connor is alarmed when it becomes clear that Cormac is dealing drugs, showing that his time inside hasn't changed him at all.

Cormac's arrival is sowing the seeds for a major new autumn storyline, as Corrie insiders have already teased some huge drama ahead for the Connors.

Last month, show sources revealed that Cormac will ultimately be found dead at Michelle's flat after befriending Ryan.

It's thought that Cormac dies of a drug overdose and a terrified Ryan fails to do anything to save him, leaving some of his family's criminal associates out for revenge.

This incident then leads to Corrie's big autumn car crash, which sees Michelle, Ryan and Ali Neeson among those in danger when a quest for payback leads to a terrifying high-speed chase.

Pat Phelan may be gone, but it looks like the drama on the cobbles lives on...

Coronation Street brings back a newly-recast Ronan Truman – but who is he again?
The dangerous drug dealer has returned to the cobbles.

Coronation Street welcomes back a blast from the past in Monday night's episodes (September 17) as Ronan Truman returns – although he's looking a little different.

Alan McKenna has taken over the role of Ronan from Colin Tierney, who played the character for a short stint last year.

Ronan runs into Adam Barlow (Samuel Robertson) on the cobbles and asks for his help with finding a job for his son Cormac, who's just been released from prison.

A Corrie source told Digital Spy that show bosses recast the role of Ronan as Colin Tierney was unavailable to return.

If you need a quick refresher on Ronan, here goes. The character previously appeared in Corrie for a short storyline in February and March 2017.

Ronan has made a career out of dealing class-A drugs and Adam was intrigued when they first crossed paths last year.

When Adam got his hands on a stash of drugs that had been unwittingly smuggled into the country by Rosie Webster, he approached Ronan and offered him a chance to buy the gear.

Although the deal went ahead, Adam's brush with the dark side began to backfire when Ronan discovered that the charming Weatherfield resident had slept with his girlfriend Trina.

Ronan turned nasty by demanding his cash back from Adam, but it had already been burned by Ken, who disapproved of his grandson dabbling with drugs.

As a result of being unable to pay back Ronan, a terrified Adam was beaten up in a vicious attack. Afterwards, Adam was full of bitterness and resentment towards Ken.

This gave Adam a motive in the subsequent 'Who Pushed Ken Barlow?' mystery, but as we know now, Daniel Osbourne turned out to be the real culprit.

Corrie insiders recently revealed that Ronan's return is leading to a tragic death plot for Cormac and huge trouble for the Connors, so watch this space for more drama.
