Holby City is planning a special male mental health episode focusing on fan-favourite character Sacha Levy.

The episode, titled 'Man Down', will air at the end of the month and has been developed with the help of mental health charity organisation Mind.

Taking place mostly on the roof of Holby City Hospital, Sacha will be seen to be really struggling after a surgical operation goes wrong and, in a twist of the format, we get to look back over the last year, focusing on scenes we've already seen but from a new perspective.

"This is an incredibly important episode of Holby where we completely depart from our normal format, focusing on one troubled year in the life of one beloved, vulnerable character," Holby City executive producer Simon Harper said.

"Brilliant writer Michelle Lipton shines a light on the vital issue of male mental health and how it can slip under the radar because of the reluctance of many men like Sacha, who avoid seeking help for fear of appearing weak.

"Bob [Barrett]'s performance is absolutely heart-breaking and the series producer, Kate Hall, and I are so proud of him. We are also very grateful to Mind and all the support and advice they have given us on this story."
