EastEnders bosses have announced that Him & Her star Ricky Champ is joining the cast as newcomer Stuart Highway.

Stuart is the older brother of Halfway and a childhood friend of Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter.

The new arrival will turn up on Albert Square following Halfway's return from duty in the army.

Mick is pleased to see his old mate, who was born and bred in the East End, but Stuart's presence soon starts to cause trouble.

Stuart has often been a bad influence on Mick and history repeats itself as they start to channel their younger selves, getting up to no good.

We have a feeling this may not go down well with the rest of the family, so we'll have to stay tuned to see how Linda reacts to Mick's latest bad behaviour.

Speaking about the new role, Ricky commented: "I'm so happy to be part of this brilliant team of people on this great show that I grew up watching. Look out Albert Square… Stuart's coming!"

Ricky has already started filming at EastEnders and will first appear on screen later this spring.

The actor is best known for playing the role of Paul in BBC Three sitcom Him & Her.

News of his casting comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Halfway is returning to Walford, with Tony Clay reprising the popular role.

Tony said today: "I'm really happy and excited to be back on EastEnders and working with such a brilliant cast and crew. Halfway is such a lovely role to play and I'm really looking forward to exploring his story further and seeing where it takes us."
