    Casualty Spoilers 2018

    http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/casu...r-cancer-plot/

Casualty has released its epic new spring trailer and it promises a huge amount of drama and heartache for the Holby staff.

The clip reveals the heartbreaking news that Glen Thomas's (Owain Arthur) cancer has returned – and it looks like his wedding to Robyn Miller (Amanda Henderson) isn't going to go smoothly either.

We also get our first glimpse of returning Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing), as she calmly strolls into A&E.

There are also glimpses of some very dramatic-looking stunts and plenty of patients in peril.

New series producer Lucy Raffety recently revealed a host of secrets from the show, including that it wants to be more unpredictable.

She revealed that Zoe Hanna (Sunetra Sarker) is returning, that Connie will soon be faced with the fight of her life and that Ethan (George Rainsford) and Alicia (Chelsea Halfpenny) are not over.

We're also losing the weekly episode titles and will see more crossovers with sister show Holby City.

Lucy also spoke about a controversial storyline that has divided the writers, saying: "The season finale is in the very early stages of planning at the moment but it will be very different.

"This will be the culmination of a very big, very current, very topical and quite controversial story that will start in spring next year.

"The series finale will see the culmination of this story, and will probably divide the audience – it certainly divides our department and it certainly divides opinions in the cast."

Casualty recently shocked viewers when paramedic Sam Nicholls was brutally killed off after being fatally injured in a huge motorway pile-up.

Poor Sam met her tragic end when she suffered a fatal bleed at the ambulance station, while Iain Dean (Michael Stevenson) desperately tried to resuscitate her.

But the soap isn't giving us much time to recover, as they've launched a new trailer teasing "a new era" for Holby.

It begins with Dylan Keogh (William Beck) being asked how he'd describe the A&E department at the hospital, to which he replies first "a dysfunctional family" and then: "Vietnam – the war, not the place."

And things certainly look far from harmonious, as the trailer then gives us glimpses of a fire, a car crash and more than one punch-up.

We also get to see Alicia Munroe (Chelsea Halfpenny) facing her alleged rapist Eddie McAllister (Joe Gaminara) in court and Lisa Duffin (Cathy Shipton) and Charlie Fairhead (Derek Thompson) looking very upset about something.

And Iain is clearly blaming himself for Sam's tragic death, as he visits her in the morgue and struggles with his emotions. "I'm so sorry, Sam," he says. "This is all my fault".

Actress Charlotte Salt, who played Sam, told Digital Spy that we can expect to see Iain "spiral into a demise" after Sam's death.

"We will see a dark side to him that we haven't really seen before," she said. "They needed something to kick start that and for something to be that reason."

In September we'll also be getting our first glimpse of Jacob Masters's mum Omo, played by former EastEnders star Ellen Thomas.

Casualty continues on Saturday, August 18 on BBC One.

We love a spoiler round-up here at Digital Spy, and with autumn now here, what better time to remind you what's coming in Casualty?

Two new arrivals, a return, and heartbreak aplenty – here are the seven of the biggest Casualty storylines you should be keeping an eye on in coming weeks:

    1. Jacob faces up to his past

Fans have recently been introduced to Jacob's mum Omo, but we're about to find out a whole lot more about their backstory. Given that Omo has been nothing but lovely to her grandson Blake, a big question mark has loomed as to why she is so estranged from her son Jacob.

However, all will be revealed in upcoming scenes when Jacob comes face to face with Omo when she's brought into the ED. As old wounds are reopened, Jacob is forced to confront his difficult past, while also making some big decisions about the future...

    2. Dylan hits rock bottom

Poor Dylan just never seems to get a break, does he? After finally finding some happiness with Ciara, a tragic turn of events has left Dylan right back at square one – and back on the booze.

We don't want to give too much away at the moment, but there's a Dylan-centric episode on its way, which will see the popular medic take centre stage in some very explosive scenes. A recent Casualty trailer also confirmed that Dylan's dad will be making a reappearance at some point this autumn and he's not the only face from Dylan's past we'll be seeing. Which leads us nicely onto the next one…

    3. Zsa Zsa is back

But why? We already know that Cagney and Lacey star Sharon Gless is reprising her role as sharp-witted brain surgeon Zsa Zsa Harper-Jenkinson following a successful stint last year, but further details about her comeback are being kept under wraps for the time being. However, given her friendship with a struggling Dylan, could he be what brings her to Holby? It's likely!

Fans will have to stay tuned to find out, but the good news is that there isn't too much longer to wait before we see her.

    4. Marty vs Jade?

A bit of fresh blood in the ED never hurt anyone and there will be plenty of it this autumn when newcomers Marty and Jade arrive.

Former EastEnders star Shaheen Jafargholi is coming into the show has been cast as student nurse Marty, while Gabriella Leon will be playing his peer Jade. And fans should expect fireworks as these two are certainly not be the best of buds.

"They are two nurses who don't see eye to eye," show producer Lucy Raffety told Digital Spy recently. "But what they do bring is a whirlwind of life and fun into the ED. But it won't always be plain-sailing with them."

    5. Gem and Rash torn apart?

They say the course of true love never runs smoothly, but it's been bump after bump for lovely Gem and Rash. And sadly the obstacles are just going to keep coming.

After their disastrous attempts to take their relationship to the next level, Gem is feeling hopeful about her future with Rash following her room swapsy with Ruby – meaning they finally have somewhere to be alone.

Unfortunately, it will become increasingly apparent that Gem could have serious competition in the form of a jealous Jamila (played by brilliant newcomer Sujaya Dasgupta) – who believes she's a far more suitable match for Rash. Throw in an embarrassing incident, a few more misunderstandings, and a big wake up call for Gem – and it starts to look like it could be curtains for this mismatched pair. Pray for Gash (or is it Rem?)

    6. Trouble for Duffy and Charlie

Casualty recently kicked off a sad, new story for Duffy after she confided in her childhood sweetheart Bill about her depression diagnosis. The problem is, Duffy is yet to apply the same honesty to her husband Charlie – who has no idea about his wife's secret struggle. And with Charlie distracted by his ever-increasing responsibilities in the ED, could Duffy be tempted to keep turning to Bill for support?

That remains to be seen right now, but we already know that this is all paving the way for a difficult few months for the pair. Show boss Lucy Raffety told us that the popular couple would be taking centre stage in one of the biggest stories of the series.

She said: "This is a huge series for Charlie and Duffy. I am not going to say too much but they go through an incredibly tough time where their marriage is put under huge strain."

    7. Iain's ordeal continues

Iain has been struggling to cope with his grief following the death of his best friend Sam Nicholls back in the summer and the dark plot is far from over yet.

With Iain still trying to come to terms with the tragedy he feels responsible for, viewers will continue to see him wrestle his demons – and his ongoing animosity towards his new colleague Ruby.

Upcoming scenes will see Iain given a painful reminder of that fateful day that nearly cost him everything, while Lucy recently confirmed to us that the show is lining up a big stunt as part of his ongoing story.

Lucy explained: "Ian is finding that for the first time in his life that he can't just lock his emotions away in a box and be the smiling, happy go-lucky chap that we know so well. This time, it is all the more overwhelming, all the more challenging and he really struggles to cope."

The winter trailer for Casualty has arrived — and it looks as though things are about to get a lot more dramatic in the Holby emergency department.

On Sunday (December 2), the official Casualty Twitter page dropped a video detailing the storylines due to hit the BBC One medical soap this festive season and beyond.

And from relationship dramas to a possible jail sentence, it seems like things really are going to "fall apart", as the caption of the trailer threatens.

Related: Casualty is lining up mental health story for Duffy as she struggles to cope

The trailer teases what could be the end for Charlie (Derek Thompson) and Duffy (Cathy Shipton), as their marriage is rocked when he learns the truth of her infidelity with childhood sweetheart, Bill.

Viewers have already seen Duffy struggle with her mental health, but the trailer suggests things could be about to get a whole lot darker, as Charlie seemingly turns his back on his wife.

It also reveals what looks to be a threat to Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing), as she climbs the stairs, only to be followed by a mystery figure. And it appears that later, she's pushed – when we spy her motionless body at the bottom, with blood on her face.

    So, will she survive?

Meanwhile, trouble also looks set to rock Ruby as she's held at gunpoint, new twists are to come in Ethan and Alicia's relationship judging by him getting down on one knee, and the trailer ends with Iain being locked up in a police cell. What's he done?

    That's Ho-Ho-Holby for you.
