Coronation Street has revealed the official details of Pat Phelan's downfall next week.
Fans will finally witness the moment they've been waiting for as Pat's oblivious wife Eileen discovers the shocking truth that she's married to a murderer.
Next week's explosive episodes see Phelan (Connor McIntyre) make a hasty exit from the cobbles after being told that the concrete he recently laid on the mill site is being dug up due to his shoddy workmanship.
Knowing that Andy Carver and Vinny Ashford's bodies will be found imminently, Phelan convinces Eileen to join him on a seaside holiday – secretly planning to use it to make his permanent getaway.
Once Phelan and Eileen have gone, Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) and Gary Windass (Mikey North) team up with a plan of their own as they decide to dig up the concrete themselves – convinced that they'll find the gun that was used to kill Luke Britton.
Instead, Seb and Gary's amateur detective work leads to the discovery of Andy and Vinny's remains, meaning that Phelan's crimes have finally been exposed.
Although the police initially arrest Gary under suspicion of murder, it's not long before the pieces of the puzzle fall into place and the Street's residents realise they'll need to warn Eileen about Phelan.
Back at the seaside, Eileen is confused to find Phelan trying to make a mysterious getaway in a boat without her. However, everything soon becomes clear when she receives a voicemail from Tim Metcalfe which tells her what's going on at the mill site.
As Eileen confronts Phelan, it's the ferocious showdown that Corrie fans have been hoping for – complete with her calling him a liar, murderer and a rapist.
Eileen then threatens to throw Phelan's boat keys over the sea wall to stop him getting away, but as they become embroiled in a tussle, the rusty harbour railing gives way. Is this the end of Eileen, Phelan, or both?
Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen, explained: "Eileen hears a message from Tim, telling her about the bodies at the mill and the fact she's in danger.
"It comes as an absolute shock to Eileen. The fact that two bodies have been found and Phelan is behind the deaths is hard to take in. It rocks her world and she's in a very vulnerable position because she's on her own with him. She's absolutely terrified and she wants to get away from him.
"Phelan turns on her. It's back against the wall time and she realises what Phelan is truly capable of, he could kill her. There's a tussle and it's a fight for her life."
Asked about filming the scenes on location in Whitehaven, Sue replied: "It was brutal. My face was actually grazed from the horizontal hail and sleet.
"I had two pairs of thermals, two jumpers, a pair of thick trousers and waterproofs, a padded fleece and two coats underneath my costume! It was like someone was just picking up bucket loads of sea water and throwing it in your face, Tiswas-style.
"On top of that, they were very hardcore storylines emotionally. It was great and really satisfying. We had a fantastic team and everybody just worked so hard. The lighting is amazing, the stunt guys were incredible, it was a job well done, Dunkirk spirit.
"It's probably the most challenging stuff I've had on the Street and the most exciting. I've loved it."
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday, March 30 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
