Dancing on Ice will be back for another series next year

Good news Dancing on Ice fans – the show will be back for another new series in 2019.

The ITV dancing show was revived for a new series last year, and on the heels of its success it was announced on This Morning today (January 25) that it would be back again next year.

"We can exclusively announce that it has been rebooked, recommissioned, rebought for another series next year," co-presenter Phillip Schofield announced live on air. "So we will be back next year."

He also issued a "call to arms" to any celebrities that wanted to take part in the next series of the show.

The show is currently in the middle of its 2018 series, returning after four years off air and drawing in an average of 7.8 million viewers so far.

"The show's welcome back has exceeded our expectations and it's been fantastic to see the audience at home loving it," said Siobhan Greene, who's head of entertainment commissioning at ITV.

"The recommission is a no brainer, and it's brilliant for everyone involved to know it'll be back next year."

Katie Rawcliffe, ITV Studios Creative Director, added: "All of us missed Dancing on Ice while the show was off screen and it seems all our viewers did too… our on-screen changes have been brilliantly received and we're looking forward to getting our skates on for series two."

Meanwhile, in current series news, Dancing on Ice judge Ashley Banjo has suggested that Lemar should be the next contestant to be eliminated, after he avoided losing out in the dreaded skate-off last weekend.
