EastEnders has confirmed the surprising return of an absent character for later this month, as part of Lola Pearce's heartbreaking storyline.

Viewers last saw Billy Mitchell on screen in February, when Phil told him he had a job for him that required him to leave Walford. Billy was reluctant, since his granddaughter is terminally ill, but relented.

When Lola found out that she has only a few months left to live, she made her family promise not to tell Billy, as she wanted to tell him herself when he returned. It looks like that'll be happening the week after next, as revealed in the official BBC episode synopsis.

April 24

It's fight night in Crunch Time, but who will take home the win? Zack has got big plans for Whitney. And Amy is desperate to make things right.

April 25

A shock revelation sparks big debate in The Vic, Billy has to face devastating news on his return to Walford and Jay and Lola blindside Ben with a shocking request.

April 26

Ben enlists Phil and Richie's help in his new fight, Keanu takes a big risk to solve his money worries and Chelsea steps up to help struggling Amy.

April 27

The Branning-Fox family face some hard conversations, and Kathy and Callum are united in their worry for Ben. Keanu and Ravi join forces, but at what cost?

How will Billy react to the news? And will he be back full-time or just for the one episode?

Monday 24th

Zack Hudson is determined to turn his life around after recent devastating events. Not only did he find out that he is HIV positive after a dark period from his past, he and girlfriend Whitney Dean tragically lost their baby, Peach.

After hiding his diagnosis, ashamed to confess to it, he finally opened up to sister Sharon Watts and best friend Martin Fowler, who lost his own brother Mark Fowler to AIDS years ago.

Buoyed by their support, Zack is feeling positive. Now that he's on his meds, he is determined to make a life with Whitney and try for another baby when his viral load comes down.

Approaching Ravi Gulati, he asks him if he could give him a loan so he could put a deposit on a flat to share with Whit. But when he excitedly tells her his good news, she's taken aback.

In the Vic, Zack has a run in with Ben Mitchell, who accuses him of being a coward for backing out of the boxing match at the gym.

After initially agreeing to sign up for a match, Zack backed out after realising he'd have to do a blood test, that would reveal his HIV.

Feeling backed into a corner by Ben, Zack lashes out and announces to the shocked pub that the reason he dropped out is because he has HIV...

Ben Mitchell is under pressure after agreeing to fight Martin Fowler in the boxing match at the gym. His dad, Phil Mitchell, used to box when he was young and he's bragging to anyone who will listen that Ben is going to win.

Worried for his husband, Callum Highway tries to talk Ben out of going ahead with the match but Ben refuses to listen.

His world is about to cave in when he's approached by a police officer, who reveals that his rapist Lewis Butler has been arrested for another sexual assault. Although Ben plucked up the courage to report Lewis' attack, he was devastated when the case was dropped for lack of evidence.

It's bad enough that Lewis never faced justice for what he did to Ben but the fact that he's gone on to ruin another man's life has left Ben in shock.

After hearing about Lewis' most recent arrest, Callum is even more worried for Ben and pleads with him to reconsider the match, worried that his emotional state will not mix well with a fight.

A grim-faced Ben insists he's going through with it and full of rage, he heads into the ring.

Is Martin in danger?

Keanu Taylor is determined to be a good dad now that he's back in son Albie Watt's life.

Wanting to put on something special for him, he tells Sharon Watts that he's going to arrange a Christening and pay for the whole event.

Although touched by Keanu's offer, Sharon isn't entirely sure where he'll get the cash from.

There's also the famliy tensions to overcome, as Keanu's mum Karen Taylor still can't give her blessing to his renewed relationship with Sharon.

Also, Amy Mitchell tries to fix things between Jack Branning and Denise Fox and Billy Mitchell gets back home from his job in Portugal.



TUESDAY 25th

Lola Pearce has been wracked with anxiety ever since her granddad Billy Mitchell's return to Walford. Her 'Pops' has been away for a few months in Portugal, earning some cash on a construction job.

While Billy was away, Lola found out that the prognosis for her brain tumour has taken a devastating turn. With the doctors no longer able to do anything to help her, she's been told that she only has months to live.

Billy is completely in the dark about the recent turn of events, as Lola couldn't bring herself to tell him over the phone. When he excitedly talks about a summer holiday in Portugal for the family, Lola hides her tears.

Knowing that he needs to know the truth, she breaks the bad news to him, sadly telling him she might not be around by the summer. Horrified, Billy is consumed by anger, leaving Lola feeling even more distraught.

Knowing she needs to face up to the inevitable, a brave Lola tells her husband Jay Brown that with the clock ticking, she needs to get some things in order.

She asks Jay if he will adopt her daughter Lexi Pearce, so she can have the peace of mind that she'll be cared for after she's gone.

Zack Hudson's shock public announcement that he has HIV has left the Albert Square residents reeling. Knowing how tough it must have been for him to admit the truth, his friend Martin Fowler comforts him.

Insisting that it was the right move to have his diagnosis out in the open, Martin encourages Zack to look to his future with girlfriend Whitney Dean, but cautions him not to rush into anything.

Zack has been given food for thought about pressuring Whitney to move in together and try for another baby. He apologises to her for trying to be too pushy and promises to take things slowly from now on.

Meanwhile, teenager Nugget Gulati was left shocked by his dad Ravi Gulati's attitude to Zack's HIV and he puts Ravi well and truly in his place over his ignorant attitude.

Kim Fox is devasted that her relationship with Howie Danes is on the rocks after he found out the truth about her car crash that nearly killed his son Denzel Danes.

Seeing that Kim is hurting, Denise Fox advises her sister to fight for Howie and do whatever it takes to make things up to him.

Kim launches into a heartfelt apology in a bid to win him back. But when she sees the doubt in his face she tells him that if he can't forgive her, then he needs to leave.


WENESDAY 26th

Keanu Taylor realises that his generous offer to throw a huge Christening bash for son Albie Watts is going to come to nothing if he can't find the cash!

A sympathetic Mitch Baker suggests that Keanu find some extra jobs to make up the shortfall in money.

Keanu is left disappointed when both Alfie Moon and Phil Mitchell have nothing for him.

After having a conversation with Zack Hudson about Ravi Gulati's dodgy dealing, Keanu gets an idea...

Zack realises that Keanu is considering tapping up Ravi for a some less than legal work and he warns Keanu that Ravi is not the kind of man he should be getting involved in.

Ravi is no small time criminal and has already done time in jail. The criminal underworld that he's involved in is seriously dangerous.

Although knowing that Zack is right, Keanu also knows that he needs some money and he talks to Ravi about getting some work.

Ravi agrees to give Keanu a trail run, offering him a job taking in a dodgy delivery.

Chelsea Fox has been seriously hurt by the revelation that her mum Denise Fox had a fling with Ravi Gulati.

After Ravi wined and dined her, she really believed that he liked her and wasn't just using her to get intel into the police investigation into him from her stepdad Jack Branning.

When she overhears Amy Mitchell, Nugget Gulati and Denzel Danes talking about the mess their parents have made, Chelsea feels bad for them.

She approaches Denise and offers her support, but warns her that she's still not forgiven her for her lies.

After finding out that Amy's dad Jack Branning is refusing to go to family therapy, Chelsea is frustrated. She confronts Jack and tells him that for the sake of Amy he needs to step up and sort out the mess the family is in.


THURSDAY 27th


Keanu Taylor is feeling edgy after his decision to ask Ravi Gulati to hook him up with his criminal contacts for a bit of cash in hand work.

When Sharon Watts tells him that they need to pay Linda Carter for the Christening food the pub, he realises that unless he takes the work, he'll have to let down Sharon and their son Albie Watts.

Keanu heads off to do the dodgy delivery job for Ravi, confident that he can pull it off. But he's stunned when DS Giles turns up and asks him what is in the boxes.

Will Keanu panic and end up in jail?

Meanwhile, Sharon is happily arranging Albie's Christening, oblivious to the fact that Keanu is strapped for cash and turning to crime to find the funds.

When Sharon and Keanu ask Keanu's sister Bernie Taylor to be Albie's Godmother, she is absolutely thrilled. Next on Sharon's list is asking her brother Zack Hudson to be Godfather.

She's shocked when instead of being as happy as Bernie to be asked, he rushes off.

Is he hiding something?

Ben Mitchell has been brooding ever since he found out that his rapist Lewis Butler has been arrested for another sexual assault.

Knowing that Ben struggles to be open about his feelings, his husband Callum Highway encourages Ben to talk to him but his words have no affect.

Ben's mum Kathy Beale is also worreid about her son and she confronts Ben over his attitude. Begging him to lean on Callum, she says that he can get the support he so badly needs.

Has Kathy managed to talk him round?

It's the day of Ben and Martin's boxing match. While Phil brags to everyone about his son's chances, Callum tries unsuccessfully to convince Ben not to fight. The day takes an unsettling turn when a police officer arrives to see Ben, revealing that Lewis has been arrested for rape again.

Later, Ben is full of pent-up rage as he prepares to face Martin in the boxing ring.

Meanwhile, Zack makes big plans for the future ? hoping to get a flat with Whitney and try for another baby when his viral load comes down. When Ben accuses Zack of being a coward for not fighting, Zack tells the whole pub about his reasons and how he's living with HIV.

Elsewhere, Amy hopes to fix Jack and Denise's relationship, so she secretly arranges for both of them to attend her school counselling session.

Also today, Karen continues to disapprove of Sharon and Keanu's relationship, while Lola wonders how to break her recent news to Billy when he returns from Portugal.

The Queen Vic customers react to Zack's big announcement. Once back at home, Martin encourages Zack to concentrate on his future with Whitney but not rush into anything.

Nugget leaves Ravi feeling humiliated when he calls him out over his lack of knowledge on HIV. Zack apologises to Whitney for rushing things and promises that they can take things more slowly.

Meanwhile, Kim makes a heartfelt apology to Howie, but also suggests that he should leave if he can't forgive her.

Elsewhere, Billy is devastated as Lola explains that she only has months to live. Lola tells Jay that she wants to get some important things in order ? starting with him adopting Lexi.

Keanu realises that he needs new jobs as he can't afford Albie's christening. Keanu becomes intrigued over Ravi's dodgy dealings, but Zack cautions him not to get involved.

Keanu ignores this advice and arranges to do a dodgy delivery for Ravi as a trial.

Meanwhile, Denise is touched when Chelsea steps in to support the Brannings, but Chelsea makes it clear that she still hasn't forgiven her mum for betraying her.

Later, Chelsea confronts Jack for his decision to refuse family therapy.

Amy goes AWOL before counselling, but Chelsea finds her having a panic attack and brings her along to join the rest of the family in the therapist's office.

Denise feels under attack as a frank conversation begins, but there's a big shock when Ricky says what he thinks.

Meanwhile, Keanu picks up the boxes for the delivery job he's doing for Ravi, but DS Giles is suspicious and quizzes him on what's inside.

Elsewhere, Callum worries as he notices Ben bottling up his feelings. Kathy encourages Ben to lean on Callum and get the support he needs.

Also today, Sharon and Keanu ask Bernie to be Albie's godmother. Sharon asks Zack to be godfather, but he gets upset and rushes off.
