    Neighbours Spoilers 31st Dec 2018 - 4th January 2019

    Monday 31 Dec

Gary has a problem when Kev plants some stolen equipment at the Waterhole. Needing to get rid of the incriminating evidence, he panics when he sees a shadowy figure in the darkness and attacks, only to discover that he has just knocked Dipi out. Xanthe's dreams are rekindled when Ben gets in touch with a job offer at a nursing home near Toowoomba university.

    Tue 1 Jan

Shane vents his anger on Gary at the hospital, but decides not to tell the police. Dipi suffers an allergic reaction to her scans. Amy learns what Gary has been up to and helps Sheila to move the stolen goods, but is clearly furious. Xanthe tells Gary that she refuses to accept his dirty money and is turning down the university offer.

    Wed 2 Jan

Dipi is in forgiving mood as she recovers, but Shane is unconvinced. Gary pays a secret visit to Finn in hospital and is shocked to find Susan there. Toadie is not pleased when he learns of her visit. Liz sneaks an opportunity to read Bea's diary and is almost caught by Elly. She hides it in the nearest available place - the backyard pizza oven.

    Thurs 3 Jan

Susan and Toadie attend a meeting with the Prosecutor. Toadie outlines their case, pleading that his client acted in self-defence, but it is only when Susan speaks up that the Prosecutor, impressed by her honesty, agrees to drop all charges. There is cause for celebration at the Kennedy household and Toadie fires up the pizza oven, unaware that it contains Bea's diary.

    Fri 4 Jan

Bea discovers what Liz has done and is furious. Looking for ways to make amends and be closer to her daughters, Liz considers buying a home locally, but Bea makes her feelings clear - if Liz moves to Erinsborough, she will leave. Meanwhile, Susan is offered the chance to participate in a medical trial in Sydney and Elly is pleased when Liz offers to look after her while she is there.

Less humid, anyway. My Bro-in-law lived there for a bit. We had some roasting days where the AC didn't make a difference and we had to go to Westfield instead. Plenty of extreme wind, rain and lightning there too. Brisbane in summer is like living in a jungle. Hot, sticky, everyone's struggling. And storms, of course. I'm about an hour south of Brisbane now and it's also very pleasant.

Yes the humidity is horrible. Storms and more rain are the only upsides to summer in Brisbane

Digital Spy's extended Neighbours spoilers for 31st Dec - 4th Jan are now available:

    Monday 31 Dec 2018

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...-gary-mistake/

Gary is contacted about another dodgy delivery job, but reminds Kev that he’s out of the game. Kev reports that his bosses won’t be happy with that, but Gary stands firm: Kev’s bosses can do their worst. And they do… Gary goes to the coffee hut during the New Year’s Eve festivities and finds some of the stolen solar inverters planted there as a set up.

Fearing they’re about to pin the whole scam on him, Gary confers with Sheila and they decide to move the goods somewhere else after midnight. But, now on edge, Gary sees Kev at The Waterhole’s New Year’s party and follows him back to the pavilion. Losing him in the dark, he sees a shadowy figure near the coffee hut, and attacks… only to discover it’s Dipi he’s just mistakenly knocked unconscious.

Meanwhile, Piper urges Xanthe to find a way to still attend university in Toowoomba, but Xanthe wants to be financially independent, which seems impossible to manage with her hectic uni schedule. But Ben gets in touch from Oakey – which is only half an hour from Toowoomba – and offers a solution: a job at a nearby nursing home where Xanthe could work to earn her way. Xanthe is stoked. Her dreams are back on track.

Ready to party, Xanthe, Yashvi and Piper hit The Waterhole, but Yashvi gets drunk on Shane’s home brew – which Yashvi secretly tampered with to make extra strong.

Shane meets Gary at the hospital, angry and contemptuous when he learns that Gary’s attack on his wife is collateral damage from his dodgy dealings. Dipi is sore and concussed but seemingly okay as she waits to have some scans. Dipi is hazy on the details of events and only confirms Gary’s story of misadventure. Shane has an opportunity to tell the police what really happened but doesn’t, opting instead to give Gary a brutal dressing down.

With his fury purged, Shane is optimistic as he waits with Yashvi and Kirsha for Dipi to return from her scan. But when a Code Blue is called to radiology, Shane learns that Dipi has had a severe allergic reaction to the contrast dye used in the scan and has gone into cardiac arrest. Will she survive?

Meanwhile, Gary stresses, torn between wanting to atone for hurting Dipi and needing to get rid of the planted solar inverters if he’s to escape going back to jail. He calls Sheila and asks her to help him take care of it, unaware that Amy is with Sheila and has heard the entire story over the phone. Amy feels massively betrayed and disappointed, but decides she has no choice but to help Sheila get rid of the damning evidence.

Sheila tries to plead Gary’s good intentions as she and Amy move the inverters, but Amy doesn’t want to hear it. Sheila lets Gary know she got the job done – with Amy’s help. Gary goes home to talk to Amy and finds her bags packed. She isn’t sure whether she’ll stay or go, but she’s furious at him for proving Paul right about him all along.

When Xanthe learns what Gary has been doing, she’s equally furious. She refuses to take his dirty money or put him any further at risk for her education. She’s going to turn down her place at uni and leaves Gary alone to stew on his failings.

Shane and the girls are relieved when Dipi recovers from her ordeal. Determined not to give in to anger, Dipi insists everything that led them here was due to a misunderstanding, and remains unwilling to punish Gary for it. However, Shane is unconvinced.

Amy agrees to stay in the spare room for now, but tells Paul everything about Gary’s involvement in the development theft and Dipi’s assault. Gary comes under pressure from Amy, Sheila and Paul to turn over a new leaf and start leading a more responsible life.

When Shane takes his anger at Gary out on Sheila and kicks her out of Dipi’s hospital room, an upset Sheila warns Gary he’s on the wrong path, comparable to Finn. It’s a dark moment for Gary, contemplating that his poor choices began after Finn ran down Xanthe. Pensive, he secretly pays a visit to Finn’s hospital bed – but his anger turns to shock when he catches Susan in the room watching Finn again.

Meanwhile, Liz realises Bea has been writing about her in her journal, and is overwhelmed with intrigue about what the entries about her say. When Bea leaves her journal unattended, the temptation proves too much for Liz and she decides to take a peek. She’s shocked by the harsh truths contained within.

As Liz absorbs Bea’s thoughts on her poor parenting and unfavourable comparisons to Susan, she grows upset and breaks her self-imposed drinking ban. When Elly nearly catches her reading the journal, Liz stashes it in the nearest hiding place: the Kennedys’ backyard pizza oven – it’s a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.

Elsewhere, Susan is relieved to hear Toadie has managed to set up a meeting with the DPP and her case will finally be heard. Although he believes the prosecution have over-reached, Toadie warns Susan she must toe the line at the meeting to ensure her charges aren’t taken to trial. However, Susan has been stewing on the information she learnt about Finn’s kidnapping in South America and pays a visit to him in hospital.

Susan is caught out by Gary, and when Toadie gets wind of her secret visit, he’s furious with her for not listening to him. This obsession she has with Finn could easily be spun by the prosecution into proof of a vendetta against him, which will ruin their chances of arguing self-defence. Susan could now be facing serious jail time.

    Thurs 3 Jan

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...ally-revealed/

Worried that news of her recent visits to Finn may have reached the prosecutor and muddied her case, Susan is a bundle of nerves as she and Toadie head off to learn whether or not she will face trial for attempted murder. Toadie lays out his case that Susan acted in self-defence, but the prosecutor is unconvinced – Susan visited Finn with murderous intent prior to her arrest and he knows she’s been again more recently.

Eager to explain herself, Susan steps up to speak, despite Toadie’s misgivings. She describes how she is pulled to Finn’s bedside by her deep remorse. Susan feels sorry for Finn, despite all the terrible things he’s done, and despite the fact she was genuinely in fear for her life – and Bea’s – in the moment she pushed him.

Convinced by Susan's honesty, the prosecutor finally agrees to drop the charges against her – meaning Elly, Bea and Xanthe are off the hook too.

Celebrations commence at the Kennedy house with champagne and food. In the midst of this, Toadie fires up the pizza oven. Knowing Bea’s journal is inside, Liz has the chance to confess and stop it, but stays quiet instead. When Bea realises what’s happened, she’s devastated. The journal is destroyed – can she ever forgive Liz for what she’s done?

Meanwhile, Terese goes to drastic lengths.

    Elsewhere, Chloe disappoints Mark.

Desperate for answers, Terese tempts Paul.

Meanwhile, stunned to see her journal destroyed, Bea rounds on her mum but Liz excuses her behaviour by attacking Bea for the personal comments she’d written about her. Devastated to lose her private thoughts and song lyrics, Bea vents to Ned, who suggests it may be time to stop opening herself up to Liz emotionally and continually getting hurt.

Looking for ways to make amends and be in Bea and Elly’s lives on a more permanent basis, Liz considers buying the empty house on the corner of Ramsay Street, but Bea makes her feelings clear – if Liz moves to Erinsborough, Bea will leave. Liz decides to do the right thing and go back home, giving her daughters space.

Elsewhere, Susan is offered the opportunity to participate in an MS remyelination trial in Sydney and Elly is pleased when Liz offers to look after her while she’s there.
