The thing I cant understand is, why was Laurel taken out of this story-line? Emma's demise should have been a victory for Ashley & vindication for Laurel?

It is appalling story telling. Really awful. Laurel should have been there for sure as she was one of the main participants from the beginning.

What’s happened to the confession letter Emma wrote and left with the baby?

When she left the baby in the church the letter was left on the baby’s lap. But when Harriet got there the letter was gone?
