Later Shona arrives for her birthday meal at the Bistro with the Platts.

She's instantly unsettled by the sight of Dane at a nearby table. Will she give in to his demands?

Monday (1)

Nathan phones Mel. Promising her they will be together when it's all over, he tells her to do whatever she can to stop Bethany getting to the court to give evidence.

Pretending she is going to the police, Mel gets Bethany to accompany her to the station, but instead stops the car by some railway tracks. Mel grabs Bethany by the hair, dragging her towards the tracks.

Meanwhile, Anna calls at Seb's house with groceries. His mum Abi seizes the opportunity to head upstairs with a bottle of vodka, leaving Anna stuck in charge of the twins.

Later, Seb arrives home to find Anna and Abi mid-argument. As his mum slopes off, Seb snaps at Anna to be grateful she's merely drunk rather than high on heroin. Anna is shocked to learn that Abi is an addict.

Elsewhere, Daniel is downcast that his editor only tasks him with reporting tedious local events and yearns for a meatier story. When Yasmeen makes digs at Phelan about Vinny and the Calcutta Street flats scam, Daniel's ears prick up.


Monday (2)

At court, Nathan is cocky when his barrister reveals that Bethany hasn't turned up.

Will Bethany escape Mel's clutches and arrive at court in enough time to give evidence?

Meanwhile, Anna refuses to turn her back on Seb, but will she report Abi after discovering that she's an addict?

Elsewhere, Adam calls on Eva at the flat with some whiskey, determined to cheer her up. As they get tipsy together, Eva is taken aback when Adam admits that he's fallen for her in a big way. Eva pulls him in for a passionate kiss.

Also, Rita takes Gemma, Jenny, Sally, Sophie and Ken to the Bistro for a slap-up lunch. Gemma is concerned by how much she's splashing out. Rita also asks Colin to draw up the paperwork for the flat sale.


Wednesday (1)

It's Craig's turn to give evidence in support of Bethany at Nathan's trial, but he's flustered.

Will Craig be able to steady himself enough to deliver his evidence?

Meanwhile, Yasmeen gives Daniel chapter and verse on the flats scam, but when he approaches Phelan for a comment, he's given short shrift. Once Eileen is present, Phelan is suddenly more forthcoming, as they reveal to Daniel how Vinny fleeced them then vanished without trace.

Elsewhere, Gemma, Norris and Jenny are alarmed when Rita goes missing on the day of her operation.


Wednesday (2)

Nathan's verdict is in, but has he done enough to evade justice?

Meanwhile, Anna warns Daniel against investigating Phelan, citing Michael's death as an example of how that turns out. Confirming that Todd found the body, Anna sends Daniel off on a new line of enquiry. Daniel arranges to meet Todd, but what will Todd reveal?

Elsewhere, will Norris manage to persuade Rita to bury her fears and undergo the surgery?

Also, Faye confronts Seb with her suspicions.


Friday (1)

Suspicious Phelan follows Daniel to a nursing home and comes face-to-face with an old enemy.

Meanwhile, Shona is unnerved when Clayton's dad Dane calls into the café and demands her scratch card winnings.

Elsewhere, Gary is rattled when Phelan asks how he knows Nicola.

Also, Andy hits rock bottom and plans a suicide attempt.


Friday (2)

Phelan calls at Daniel's flat and threatens to hurt him if he doesn't stop snooping. Will Daniel listen?

Meanwhile, Shona arrives for her birthday meal at the Bistro with the Platts, but she's instantly unsettled by the sight of Dane at a nearby table.

David is also taken aback when Dane approaches him and mentions Kylie. Predicting trouble, Shona furtively sets off the fire alarm.

Elsewhere, Fiz is angry that Beth has been exploiting Hope's cancer battle to raise awareness for a crowdfunding page the factory girls are setting up to start a new business. Beth is contrite, but when she logs on to remove Hope's story, she and Fiz are startled by the sudden leap in donations.

Fiz suggests to Tyrone that they should leave Hope's story online for a bit longer. Will Tyrone agree?

Coronation Street's Fiz Stape faces a moral dilemma next week after her young daughter's past battle with cancer gets exploited by Beth Sutherland.

Fiz's daughter Hope, who's now 6, fought cancer in an emotional storyline in 2015 and 2016 – but she fortunately went into remission following chemotherapy and surgery.

Although Hope is now well again, Beth decides that she can still use Fiz's past family heartbreak to her own advantage next week.

When the out-of-work factory staff set up a crowdfunding page to help launch a new business of their own, they're initially disappointed by the lack of public support.

Realising a more emotional hook is needed, Beth sneakily adds details of Hope's story to the online donation page – much to Fiz's horror when she finds out.

Fiz is furious over Beth exploiting her family for financial benefit, but she's later given pause for thought when she sees how much the donations have increased.

Fiz ends up suggesting to her partner Tyrone Dobbs that they should keep Hope's story online for a bit longer, but will he be supportive or disgusted over her controversial decision? Is Fiz asking for trouble?
