Neighbours' Toadie and Sonya Rebecchi receive upsetting news about their daughter Nell next week

Toadie and Sonya Rebecchi's chances of an imminent reunion are thwarted on Neighbours when they receive some worrying news about their young daughter Nell.

The estranged couple seem closer than they've been in months as they flirt happily at the café next week, with both secretly realising that a reconciliation now seems inevitable.

The Rebecchis are also feeling optimistic over their daughter Nell when they attend a parent-teacher meeting at her kindergarten, expecting to hear that she's a firm favourite among the staff.

Sadly, the real story is very different as Nell's teacher explains that she's showing significant behavioural issues – including poor concentration, tantrums and difficulties socialising with the other kids.

Toadie (Ryan Moloney) and Sonya (Eve Morey) are outraged that they haven't been told any of this sooner, but it seems that a mix-up at the kindergarten is to blame.

Nevertheless, the situation is so serious that they're advised to keep Nell at kindergarten for another year, delaying her start at school.

Afterwards, Toadie and Sonya feel terrible for missing the warning signs and they also know that their recent family issues must have sparked the drastic change in Nell's behaviour.

When Toadie "helpfully" points out that the problem could stem back as far as the surrogacy, Sonya is furious and angrily accuses him of trying to pin the blame on her.

As another argument erupts between the pair, does it mean that a reunion is a long way off after all?
