Casualty bosses have dropped some big teasers for the show's highly-anticipated one-shot episode, which will be hitting our screens this weekend.

As previously reported, the BBC medical drama has attempted something it's never done before by filming a whole episode in one take and on a single camera.

The show's chiefs had always hinted that they would be deviating from their usual house style with their version of a live episode, and the plans were officially confirmed earlier this year.

Explaining where the inspiration came from, producer Erika Hossington said to Inside Soap: "After the helicopter crash last year, everyone said to me, 'How are we going to top that?' My reply was that we have to keep being imaginative.

"If we can't do something bigger, we do something different. None of us knew what we were going to pull off and what we weren't."

The episode will centre on Duffy mentoring two teenage girls, Chloe and Diamond, who are being shown around the department for work experience, and will take viewers on a journey to observe the daily highs and lows of the hospital.

However, director Jon Sen says they certainly didn't make things easy for themselves, as he revealed some insider gossip on how it was filmed.

"We were very keen to show the entirety of the set, so there's a moment where we take the characters upstairs to the pharmacy," he noted.

"So we're lowering the cameraman on a harness. That was my idea and people did look at me as though I was insane. It's 34 minutes into the episode and it comes at a pivotal moment. It's a little nerve-wracking."

But it looks like Cathy Shipton – who plays nurse Duffy – took the whole thing in her stride.

She said: "If you fluff the odd line, it's not the end of the world, because that's how we speak in real life. As long as you then don't go, 'Oh God' and utter a load of expletives."

Casualty will air the big episode on Saturday, July 29 at 9.05pm BBC One.

Hollyoaks star Kassius Nelson will be returning to our screens this weekend as guest star in Casualty's ground-breaking episode 'One'.

Kassius – who is known for her role as Hollyoaks' Jade Albright – will play the character of Chloe, who is doing working experience at the hospital.

The BBC medical drama has attempted something that's never been done before by filming a whole episode in one take and on a single camera.

Written by Casualty's creator Paul Unwin, the extraordinary episode will cover an hour in the famous Emergency Department and incorporate all of the well-loved series regulars.

The episode will centre on Duffy mentoring two teenage girls, Chloe and Diamond, who are being shown around the department for work experience and will take viewers on a journey to observe the daily highs and the lows of the hospital.

Kassius starred as Jade in Hollyoaks for a year between 2015 and 2016, taking centre stage in a heart-wrenching story that saw both the schoolgirl and her boyfriend Alfie Nightingale battle with cancer.

Hollyoaks worked on the storyline in conjunction with Stand Up To Cancer, but the plot came to a tragic end when Jade ended up passing away in Alfie's arms after developing a serious infection.

Casualty's groundbreaking 'One' episode will air on Saturday night (July 29) on BBC One.
