    Exclamation Corrie Spoilers 17th - 21st July 2017

    Monday (1)

In order to raise some cash for the deposit on the flat, Aidan decides to sell his car. Eva feels guilty, but her resolve hardens when Maria flashes him a wistful smile from across the street.

Later, Adam tries to blackmail Aidan over the photograph. When Aidan refuses to pay up, Adam orders him to tell Eva the truth. Eva stares at Aidan with her heart in her mouth – if she is 'told' about the affair, her revenge is over.

Meanwhile, David calls at Number 11 and implores Shona to help him track down Lara, another of Nathan's victims, in a bid to help Bethany get the justice she deserves.

Elsewhere, clearly in a foul mood, Phelan heads out to price up a job. Seb is intrigued to see that Phelan has been Googling Nicola, his case manager. Having surveyed the new solicitors' offices, Phelan breaks the news to Adam that the electrics will set him back £4,000. Phelan blames himself for coming on too strong and scaring Nicola away. At work, he has a go at Seb and tells him he is fired.

Also, after spending the night together, Brian and Cathy discuss possible nicknames for each other. Brian shows Cathy his megaphone, explaining that his council duties have expanded to include litter enforcement. As Brian takes up his litter enforcement role and berates Phelan for dropping a sweet wrapper, Cathy watches him admiringly.

    Monday (2)

Eva realises that Adam must know about Aidan's affair but is desperate to keep him quiet, so she pretends to faint. While Aidan fetches her some water, Eva orders Adam to meet her in the ginnel. Adam heads out intrigued.

In the ginnel, Adam shows Eva the photo of Aidan snogging Maria. Eva asks Adam to stop blackmailing Aidan, as she wants to forget about his affair for the sake of their baby. Adam reluctantly agrees.

Meanwhile, Seb quizzes Eileen about Phelan's obsession with Nicola and is fascinated to learn that she may be his daughter. Eileen finally admits to Phelan how she went to see Nicola and showed her the photo of him and Linda, hoping it would do some good but her plan backfired. As Phelan absorbs the news, Eileen goes on to reveal that Seb knows that Nicola might be his daughter. How will Seb use this info?

Elsewhere, David and Shona steer Lara to a café and urge her to report Nathan to the police, not just for Bethany's sake but for all the girls whose lives he's ruined. Will she agree to help?

Also, having taken delivery of some new salt and pepper mills, Roy is annoyed to discover the receipt is missing. Spotting this, Brian brandishes the receipt at Roy, explaining that he found it on the street and that makes him a litter lout. Roy is stunned as Brian issues him with a Fixed Penalty Notice.

    Wednesday

Forming a plan, Adam instructs Eva to borrow Aidan's paperwork regarding the flat purchase. On Adam's advice, Eva suggests to Aidan that having looked at his accounts, it might be best to put the flat in her name.

Later, Adam suggests their next move should be to take the factory from him.

Meanwhile, Phelan offers Seb his job back at the builder's yard. Seb is pleased. When Nicola calls at the yard and invites Phelan for a drink, he's surprised but thrilled. Over a drink, Phelan chats away to Nicola, trying to get to know her. However, when she reveals that she knows he's dying, Phelan's completely thrown.

Elsewhere, Craig tells Bethany how he confronted Neil, who denied everything. Bethany's gutted, but Craig assures her that he knows she's telling the truth and he admires her for showing such amazing strength despite all she's gone through. Buoyed by Craig's words, Bethany announces that she's going to seek professional help. Sarah is pleased that she's finally turned a corner.

Also today, Brian refuses to back down over Roy's litter fine.

Finally, Zeedan and Rana attend Luke, Kate and Alya's flat warming party. Luke leans in to kiss Alya, but will she respond?

    Friday (1)

Sarah thanks Craig for giving Bethany the courage to seek professional help. When Craig admits that he intends to quit the police force, Bethany is horrified and urges him to reconsider, pointing out that he'd be letting Nathan and Neil win.

Craig approaches Neil and tells him he's changed his mind about quitting the force, but is going to request that he's assigned a new mentor. Neil angrily bundles Craig into his car, asserting that they need a little chat. Secretly activating the record function on his phone, Craig goads Neil, but will he reveal all?

Meanwhile, Nicola calls at Number 11. Handing Eileen a DNA testing kit, she tells her she needs to know the truth. Phelan arrives home and is taken aback when Eileen shows him the DNA kit.

Elsewhere, determined to put his plan into action, Adam tells Eva she needs to persuade Aidan to give her a job in the office.

Also, Gail confides in Audrey that Nick has sold his flat and gone for good and as far as she's concerned, Leanne's to blame. At the same time, Michelle signs for a recorded letter, only to realise it's for Leanne.

Finally, Luke apologises to Alya for trying to kiss her. Blaming the drink, she promises it won't happen again. Alya hides her disappointment. Later, Alya confides in Rana and Kate that she's fallen for a guy but isn't sure what to do.

    Friday (2)

At Craig's insistence, Bethany phones the police to report Neil and DC Leigh calls at Number 8. Awash with shame, Bethany describes how Nathan cajoled her into having sex with Neil. DC Leigh assures her that Neil will feel the full force of the law.

In the police station, DC Leigh tells Neil that the Chief Inspector wants to see him. Knowing the game is up, Neil shoots a look of hatred at Craig. DC Leigh calls at Number 8 and assures Bethany and Sarah that she's confident they now have enough evidence to bring charges.

Meanwhile, when Aidan reveals that Eva will be moving into the office to learn the business side of things, Jenny and Alya are furious. Johnny tries to smooth things over. Izzy confronts Aidan, demanding to know why Eva's been promoted and accusing him of favouritism. When Aidan reveals that Eva is pregnant and has been promoted on medical grounds, Izzy and Sean apologise for their bitchy remarks.

Elsewhere, as Toyah and Peter prepare The Rovers for Liz's farewell party, Toyah confides in Leanne that she's hopeful she may be pregnant. Toyah gives Eva a congratulatory hug, whilst Eva is awash with guilt.

Also, Phelan does the DNA test and hands the swab to Nicola. Nicola heads off, promising she'll be in touch as soon as she has the results.

Finally, Michelle chucks the recorded letter addressed to Leanne in the bin, while Alya steels herself to tell Luke she fancies him.

Coronation Street teen Craig Tinker makes a brave move next week as he tries to expose Neil Clifton's true colours once and for all.

Craig (Colson Smith) is about to discover exactly what Neil is capable of when Bethany Platt confides in him about how the corrupt policeman was one of her abusers.

Even though Bethany (Lucy Fallon) urges Craig to respect her wishes and keep the revelation to himself, he seizes his chance to gather evidence when he finds himself alone with a very menacing Neil.

It all kicks off when Bethany hears that Craig is considering quitting the police force as he's so disgusted by the behaviour of his superior officer.

Bethany points out that he'd be letting the villains win if he gives up on his career, so Craig eventually changes his mind and simply tells Neil that he wants another mentor.

Scared that would rock the boat too much, nervous Neil furiously bundles Craig into his car and warns that they need a little chat.

Hoping that Neil is about to say something incriminating, Craig secretly hits the 'record' button on his phone.

While we can't reveal whether Craig's daring plan pays off just yet, his next step is to go back to Bethany and urge her to finally report Neil to the police.

When Bethany does so, she's promised that Neil will face the full force of the law – and there may now be enough evidence to bring charges against her groomer Nathan Curtis too.

Is this the end of Bethany's ordeal at last?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday, July 21 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.

Coronation Street's Eva Price gets another useful ally for her revenge plans next week as Adam Barlow offers to team up with her.

Eva (Catherine Tyldesley) is hell-bent on making her fiancé Aidan Connor pay for cheating on her with Maria, but she's thrown a curveball when she realises that Adam also knows about the affair.

Upcoming episodes see Adam (Samuel Robertson) increase his blackmail pressure on Aidan in a bid to extort even more money out of him.

When Aidan (Shayne Ward) refuses to cooperate, Adam shows he means business by confronting him in front of Eva and ordering him to tell her the truth about everything.

As she realises what's going on, the tense moment leaves Eva in a secret panic, as she knows that her own revenge plans will be thwarted if she is 'told' the truth by Aidan or Adam.

Keen to get out of it, Eva pretends to faint to buy herself some more time and later arranges a secret meeting with Adam in the ginnel.

Although Eva urges Adam to mind his own business and leave Aidan alone, he comes up with an alternative suggestion by offering to help her out.

Step one sees Adam encourage Eva to have her and Aidan's new flat put in her name – an idea she quickly takes on board.

Step two sees Adam suggest they should find a way to take Underworld from Aidan – starting off with Eva getting a job in the factory office so she can scheme behind the scenes.

With Aidan still oblivious to Eva's intentions, he happily agrees to let her move into the office to learn the business side of things. As things continue to fall into place, can Eva find a way to steal away the factory?

Coronation Street's David Platt puts his anger towards Shona Ramsey to one side next week as they team up for Bethany's sake.

David (Jack P Shepherd) is livid when Shona makes a return to the cobbles, but he quickly realises he's outnumbered on this one as everyone else wants her to be part of the fightback against Nathan Curtis.

Shona (Julia Goulding) has her own troubled history with Nathan as he once tried to groom her, and as the CPS have decided not to charge him for abusing Bethany, the Platts need all the help they can get right now.

Next week, David swallows his pride by calling at the Grimshaw house and begging Shona to help him track down Lara Cutler (Niamh Blackshaw).

Lara is the young victim of Nathan who was first introduced in Corrie's 9pm week last month – and David hopes the CPS will change their minds about Nathan if she reports him too.

Putting their plan into action, David and Shona find Lara and take her off to a cafe, urging her to tell the police what Nathan did to her.

The pair tell Lara that her brave move wouldn't just help Bethany, but also herself and all of the other girls whose lives he's ruined.

    Will Lara agree to help?

Speaking about Lara last month, Corrie boss Kate Oates commented: "We will see Lara again. As an actress, we don't see her for very long, but she has such a haunted look. In a short time on screen, she makes a massive impact."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, July 17 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.

Coronation Street’s Ben Cartwright – It’s game over for Neil! - interview
Coronation Street cop Neil Clifton fears his web of abuse is going to cost him his freedom next week and it’s all down to Craig Tinker.
Bethany Platt, who was manipulated into having sex with Neil, recently admitted the police officer’s involvement in the sex ring to her close friend Craig Tinker.
And next week Craig is going to convince her to report Neil to the police while also taking steps to get the evidence investigators need to punish his colleague.
Neil angrily bundles Craig into his car asserting that they need a little chat after finding out what he’s done.
Secretly activating the record function on his phone, Craig goads Neil into revealing his involvement in the crime and later officers arrive at the Platt house to reveal they have enough evidence to press charges.
Here Ben Cartwright, who plays Neil, says it’s right that Neil face justice for what he’s done and reveals his initial concern about playing such a sinister role.
How did you feel when you got the part?
Being married with a young family, my initial concern was over my personal welfare but I am incredibly grateful that I did take the role because the response has been really positive from people that have recognised me playing a character and appreciating how amazing the storyline has been, how brilliantly it has been handled, how convincing it has been and what an important story it is to bring to everyone’s attention. So from initially having my own personal reservations it has actually been the polar opposite. It serves the survivors of this situation a disservice if you don’t do it properly so I felt duty-bound to do it and to the best of my ability.
Why is it important for soaps to tackle subjects like this one?
It’s to bring it to people’s attention and it’s also to change people’s perception of who the perpetrators are. The casting of Chris Harper as Nathan has been really good – a handsome chap that comes across as extremely charismatic but he also has an element about him that puts your feelers up that something is not quite right. It’s important to show that it’s not just internet weirdos who hide behind a computer with their greasy hair and long fingernails and it’s important to show that the character of Bethany is not a fool, she’s not a gullible young girl but this has happened to her when she is an intelligent, free spirted teeneager. Actually these people are very manipulative and very clever and with anything in terms of abuse, it brings it into people’s’ consciousness.
When Neil bundles Craig into the car, how scared is he that Craig will blow the whole thing?
It’s becoming increasingly more evident to Neil that Craig is not going to let it go. For the character of Neil, because he is in a position of authority and he is always on the front foot and always in control, it is unnerving that there is a feeling he gets from Craig of persistence and that his world could come tumbling around so definitely he has gone into panic mode at that point.
Do you think up until this point that Neil thought he would never get caught?
Neil compartmentalised things. He thinks, “This is my job, this is what I do, I am very good at it,” and that he has a dark hobby on the side that is no one’s business. Somehow along the line, he has justified this to himself. Craig has talked about how great his mentor Neil is and that he loves working with him and that is important to show. He probably is a very good policeman and the whole point of this storyline is that the characters are layered and believable.
How does Neil feel when he is called to see the Chief Inspector after Craig has told them everything?
That scene in particular, from a human point of view filming it, was horrible to walk into a room and see six or seven people giving you daggers and shaking their heads and looking at you in disgust. It’s clear at that moment, for Neil it’s game over.
How important do you think it is for Coronation Street to show justice being served?
I don’t think they have any other option really to show that these guys get their comeuppance. There is a duty of care in the decision making. Coronation Street have taken their time about it, this has been rumbling since Christmas time and that is important because it shows the reality of slowly getting under someone’s skin, manipulating them and taking them away from friends and family.
What has it been like working at Coronation street?
It’s been great; there’s a really lovely, friendly atmosphere. Everyone across the board, from the legends that have been there for years to the crew, made a beeline to come and introduce themselves to me and make sure I was settled. So welcoming.
What has it been like working with Chris Harper and Lucy Fallon?
Brilliant, couldn’t have asked for anything more. I hit it off with Chris almost instantly as we’ve got mutual friends. Lucy is such a natural and wears her heart on her sleeve in the way she acts which is instantly believable. They have both been amazing. On set, in between takes, I made sure Lucy and I got to know each other, that we had a laugh and a joke to make sure she was comfortable. We didn’t over-do certain scenes and I felt it was just as much my responsibility to make sure Lucy was cool with things as to make a believable performance.
