KRISTY Wright was one of the most popular stars of Home and Away in the late ’90s.

The actress played Chloe Richards on the show from 1995 to 1999 and later returned to the show for a brief stint in 2005.

“I loved my time on Home and Away,” Wright told Channel Seven’s The Daily Edition.

“When they asked me to come back for those few weeks [in 2005] I was really excited.”

But sadly for fans of the show, Chloe Richards’ return to Summer Bay was short lived.

She was involved in a car crash with Alf (Ray Meagher), Ric Dalby (Mark Furze), Martha MacKenzie (Jodi Gordon) and Kim Hyde (Chris Hemsworth) and seemed to be relatively unharmed, walking away with just a broken arm.

But just as Chloe was preparing to have her arm operated on, she suffered an embolism and died.

“When I saw that I was going to die I was like, ‘Ohhhhh, OK, I guess that closes a really important chapter in my life,’” Wright told The Daily Edition hosts.

“Apparently my character’s daughter is living on anyway. Olivia [played by Raechelle Banno] is 16 or 17 years old, so that makes me feel really old.”

After Home and Away, Wright moved to LA and landed the role of MoteĆ© in Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith.

“I didn’t think I was going to get it because when I went for the audition I got sent to the wrong building and so I was like an hour late,” Wright said, “that’s not what you want to be doing for your Star Wars audition.”

Wright spent two weeks shooting alongside Natalie Portman but was slightly disappointed by the end result.

“Unfortunately most of it got cut,” she said.

“It was one of those experiences where I went to the cinema and I was like, ‘I’m sure I was in the beginning of that scene, and I’m sure I was in the end of that scene, and suddenly I’m only in the back of that scene.’ It probably didn’t quite work out the way I had hoped but it was still a great experience.”

In 2013 Kristy Wright made headlines when she gave birth to her son Jai who was born three months premature.

The former soapie star was happy to report that her son, now three years old, is happy and healthy.

“He is filled with energy,” she said.

“He pretty much laughs and smiles all day long. He’s probably the funniest person I’ve ever met, to be honest. His lungs are pretty week so he has a lot of bronchitis and pneumonia ... but apart from that ... we’re really lucky.”

After some time away from the camera, Wright is returning to the big screen and has just finished filming a movie called Stranded Pearl which is due out in April next year.

The movie was shot over six weeks in the Cook Islands and this time Wright is adamant that her scenes won’t be cut out.

“I’m the lead so there wouldn’t be a movie if that happened!” Wright joked
