Thumbs up Corrie will dedicate an on-set bench to the victims of the Manchester terror attack

Coronation Street has announced plans to pay further tribute to victims of the Manchester terror attack at an Ariana Grande gig, which killed 22 and left around 120 injured.

The Manchester-based soap will be dedicating a bench on the Corrie set to remember everyone affected by Monday night's (May 22) atrocity.

The dedication will be made in the coming weeks following an outpouring of affection for 29-year-old Corrie superfan Martyn Hett and all those who lost their lives following the Manchester Arena bombing.

The bench will be positioned in the new extension to the set, which is in the early stages of construction at the programme's Trafford site, and the transcription will read as follows: "For Martyn and all those who lost their lives on 22nd May 2017. We Stand Together."

Last night's Corrie episode (May 24) saw the soap's usual sponsorship bumper replaced with a photograph alongside the words "We Stand Together".

A spokesperson for the ITV show said: "Manchester is the home of Coronation Street, and we felt it was important to show our support for the victims of the bombing and the people of this great city."
