    Exclamation Colin (Vic Reeves)

    Status: Joining

    When: Late Summer 2017

More info: Comedian Vic is joining the cast of Corrie for a three-month stint and will film his first scenes in July ahead of an on-screen arrival in late summer.

Vic, whose real name is Jim Moir, has landed the role of newcomer Colin – a television presenter who comes to Weatherfield to film with Norris and Mary after they're chosen to appear on his show.

He said: "I've been a lifelong fan of Corrie. In fact, I think I saw the very first one. I try not to miss any episodes. I'm really looking forward to acting in Corrie. It's a real thrill to be part of a British institution."

Coronation Street's executive producer Kieran Roberts added: "Jim is such a well-loved entertainer and a brilliant actor so we're thrilled he's joining the cast of Coronation Street."

Coronation Street has unveiled the first picture of Vic Reeves on set, ahead of his exciting guest stint on the show.

It was announced back in May that the comedian – whose real name is Jim Moir – would be joining the soap on a temporary basis, playing a television presenter called Colin.

Colin will arrive in Weatherfield to film with Norris and Mary after they are chosen to make an appearance on his series.

But as always on the cobbles, it's not long before Colin finds himself embroiled in the lives of other street residents.

To mark his first day at Corrie yesterday (July 18), the soap tweeted: "Welcome to Coronation Street Jim Moir," alongside a picture of him on set.

Following suit, Vic/Jim posted a Weatherfield selfie from own Twitter account, saying: "Had a brilliant first day on the cobbles. Everyone was so welcoming."

Jim Moir – aka comedian Vic Reeves – is about to end his stint on Coronation Street but could he be set to depart with medical centre manager Moira in tow? Colin is convinced that Norris Cole is his dad after doing some digging and he crosses paths with Moira when he asks her to discreetly help him to do a DNA test with a stolen blood sample of Norris’. Moira is wary about being asked to risk her job but Colin is persuasive and she calls in to see him later to discuss things – which is when they end up sharing a kiss which leads to more. But while Colin is now distracted by his new love interest, Norris is given cause for concern when the medical centre calls to ask him to supply another blood sample as his has been lost. Completely oblivious to Colin’s suspicions and actions, will Norris discover the truth about what is going on – and will Colin be kicked to the kerb? Or will an even more bizarre twist actually reveal Colin to be Norris’ son? Whatever the outcome, it’s nearly time for Jim’s Corrie stint to come to an end and as he asks Moira to go with him to Stoke-on-Trent, will she accept and start a new life with him? Or will Colin leave dejected and alone?

How can a surgery or receptionist or whatever ring and ask for another blood sample. This always needs to be sanctioned by a doctor. Seems a bit crazy to me .
