Exit Strategy. Leah Is Taken Aback When Irene Announces She's Leaving Summer Bay.

Have the tissues at the ready, because another resident is departing town. Is this really the end for fan favourite Irene Roberts?

In Home and Away this week, Irene (Lynne McGranger) is struggling to mend fences with Leah. At the Diner, it seems the pair are finally getting back on track when Leah tells her about the intimate moment she shared with Zac.

Fans will recall Leah recently gave in to temptation when she & Zac were alone at the house. After spending the night together, Zac assumed they were on the path to reconciliation. However, Leah remained firm on wanting a divorce.

As she pours her heart out to Irene, Leah realises how much she missed her friend. It's just like old times. Shortly after, however, Leah overhears Irene telling Roo about her marital problems & blows up.

"Irene witnessed the fight between Zac & Leah & is secretly happy she's there to comfort her," Lynne, 64, tells TV WEEK. "She feels things are going to get back on track. But it all goes to hell in a handbasket."

As Irene tries to apologise to her friend, Leah simply shrugs it off. She's sick of fighting with everyone. Then, Leah announces she needs a change. She's decided she wants to sell her share of the Diner.

"It's like a knife into the chest for Irene," Lynne explains. "In some ways, it's the final straw for them."

At home, Irene stews over Leah's shock decision. She can't help but feel like their friendship is over. Can she fix what's broken?

Later, Leah approaches Irene to discuss meeting with lawyers about selling her share of the Diner. But Irene shocks her when she declares she's leaving Summer Bay indefinitely. Irene hands Leah a letter & walks out. Is this goodbye?

"Irene hopes the letter will show Leah how much their friendship means to her," Lynne reveals. "But Irene needs to get away. Summer Bay isn't holding anything for her anymore, so there's a chance she may never come back."

Will Leah swallow her pride & stop Irene from leaving Summer Bay?


(Trivia Time: When Irene first arrived in Summer Bay in 1991, she was played by Jacqui Phillips. Lynne took over in 1993 & has been there ever since.)



Bye Bye Baby? Fears Mount For Roo After A Shock Collapse.

Stress takes it's toll this week when Roo finds herself stranded & in danger.

It's been a testing time for the Summer Bay resident after her lover, James, took off after learning she was pregnant.

This week, Alf & Roo receive a visit from James' father, David. The wealthy man surprises Roo by offering her a cheque for $250,000.

So, what's the catch? David informs Roo that her unborn child can have the money provided they never try to contact James or his family.

Roo & Alf are outraged & send David on his way. Alf tells Roo to rip up the contract.

But Roo can't help but wonder what kind of life her child could have with the money. Will she take the bribe?

The next day, Roo meets up with David again. Just as it seems like the deal is done, Roo tells him she doesn't want his money.

On the drive home, Roo is pleased with herself for taking a stand. Suddenly, she experiences severe abdominal pain.

Roo stops the car & gets out, clutching her stomach. Overwhelmed with pain, she tries to reach for her phone, but collapses! Will Roo & her unborn baby survive?


Also This Week...

Hunter receives the results of his DNA test & is floored to discover Zac isn't his father. He decides to hide the truth from Zac, who's already hurting from his marriage breakdown. But a secret can only be hidden for so long...
