or was it just a contrived way to leave Daniel with a wad of dosh.... how could someone as so cunning as Geoff be so daft as to 'accidently' drop that somewhere and not realise, he thinks he may have left it at the bank.

It looks like he took the money to the bank and forgot to pay it in. He left it on the counter instead and another customer took it.....Silly Geoff.
