When Billy was made an Archdeacon, did the church not give him a house? Does he still have access to it, or did he give it to the homeless?
Normally the C of E will provide accommodation, which is the property of the church. So Silly Billy would not be able to give it away, or even to allow anyone (apart from his immediate family) to live there.

He couldn't live in it because it wasn't in 'The Street'

When I said did he give it to the homeless, I did not mean, "give it away", I meant did he give it to the homeless as a church run hostel, or similar. I do remember him saying it was too big for him. It must still exist, so could he not enquire if he could move there now, it was part of his package as an Archdeacon. I have a feeling the writers have forgotten about it. Billy seems to operate as "sole trader" nowadays with very little connection to the church.

I doubt the writers have forgotton about the house, perhaps they just hope that we have! Must think we are idiots.

His only connection with the church is his soup kitchen

and how did he get out of the water. Instead of installing a stairlift for their rented flat, probably without the owner's permission, why not get a ground floor flat ???

Sarah does not trust her uncle but is trusting him to pay the money back.
