I know it's hard for Leanne but personally I feel that doctor has the patience of a saint, especially with Leanne's permanently fixed scowl.

This is harsh, but she needs to stop wasting the time and money of the NHS.

Yes, it is very harsh. Many people waste the time and money of the NHS. Heavy smokers and drinkers for example. This is an innocent child.....

The trouble is that Leanne will not accept any result except a miracle cure. I bet if Dr Schmidt comes across and gives the same diagnosis she will be looking for a third and fourth opinion etc.

It may be a shame but I think it would be difficult if he had to have official dealings with his neighbours, surely the police not put him in that position. I just do think he would not be sent to a neighbours home to arrest someone. When I have had neighbours in the police I do not ever recall them working in the same streets they live in. The only place I can ever remember this happening is in remote rural communities where the village bobby lived in the local police station like in 'Doc Martin'.

Accepting that your only child who is there in the bed, who you can still see and speak to, has to have his life support turned off must be the hardest thing imaginable. What parent wouldn't want to exhaust as many options as possible?

That is totally understandable and there are sometimes these miracle cures you read about or see on tv news so no parent will give up hope that there is something that still can be done ..

The problem is that Leanne was not truthful about Oliver's condition, so when Dr Shmidt agreed to see Oliver he did so on the basis of this incorrect imformation. When he learned the truth and decided not to come, Leanne unjustly blamed Oliver's doctor of making the decision for him. While appreciating Leanne's dilemma I find it difficult to sympathize with her because they have painted her as such an aggressive and unlikable character. However saying that I think on the whole this story has been told well, illustrating what a difficult and terrible situation this would be for any parent to find themself in.

Leanne did tell the truth in a second call to Dr. Schmidt, and he said he would still see Oliver. Later the doctor in England spoke to Dr. Schmidt, and now we have a different scenario. Must admit, I would be suspicious about this. Enough to make anyone angry IMO.
