Over on Emmerdale, Kerry Wyatt hatches a new plan to win back Dan Spencer just after Christmas.

When the village gears up for a fun singles' night at the pub, Kerry (Laura Norton) fears that Dan could find a new love interest and she's fiercely determined to thwart him.

Kerry decides to go along to make sure that nobody else gets their hands on Dan, but she also comes up with a second cunning plan when she meets handsome Tommy.

With the drinks flowing and emotions running high, Kerry flirts with Tommy in the hope of making Dan jealous - but instead she just gets drunk and makes a fool of herself. Pretty standard behaviour for Kerry these days!

Despite Kerry's antics, it looks like Tommy is still pretty interested in her as these brand new pictures show them sharing a passionate kiss. But when Joanie becomes concerned about whether Tommy is really right for Kerry, is she right to be worried?

Meanwhile, these brand new Emmerdale pictures offer a first look at a bittersweet Christmas Day for the Thomas clan.

Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) is determined to give her family a Christmas to remember, but the reality of living with Ashley's dementia means that there are no guarantees for the special day.

Ashley's condition continues to deteriorate in the build-up to Christmas, including a particularly low moment when he sneaks out of hospital after an accident at home and wanders the streets.

On Christmas Day, there's another disappointment for Laurel when she attends church with her family but has to sadly explain that Ashley isn't attending as he's having a bad day.

Soon afterwards, though, Ashley stumbles into the church regardless and although Laurel is worried over what he might do, show insiders have teased that there's a happy surprise in store for the family.

John Middleton, who plays Ashley, also recently revealed: "Christmas Day is actually a lovely day in terms of how Ashley is.

"He has a sort of slight awakening on Christmas Day, to do with the circumstances of the day itself – the service in the church, things like that. There's a familiarity to it all, which is sparked by a carol initially."

Emmerdale fans have a lot to look forward to this Christmas but the same can’t be said for most of the villagers as heartbreak seems to be at the top of the agenda. Will any couple make it to 2017 still together? As Zak and Joanie Dingle hit the rocks, Finn Barton’s new relationship is also in troubled waters already while Cain’s hopes of winning back Moira take another blow as she suffers ordeal after ordeal.
Even Jimmy and Nicola King are teetering on the edge of divorce while a discovery by Chrissie White means that there could be trouble for Lawrence’s relationship with Ronnie Hale.
With a traumatic day for Ashley Thomas, deadly danger for Pete Barton and Jacob Gallagher and more misery for Kerry Wyatt, there’s little to smile about in the Dales – but plenty going on.

1. After Ashley wanders away from hospital, he ends up lost and alone in town and a specially filmed episode focuses entirely on seeing a confusing day through the eyes of Ashley and his dementia. As Laurel fears for his safety, can she find him and stop him coming to any harm?
2. Christmas Day dawns in the Thomas household and Ashley is having a difficult one. With the day a struggle, it seems clear that Ashley has forgotten that it is Christmas or Gabby’s birthday but his daughter soon makes a surprising discovery when she finds presents wrapped for the family by Ashley.
3. There are more surprises for them too when they head to the church service. As Laurel explains to her friends and neighbours that Ashley is having one of his bad days, a turn of events brings joy to the long suffering family.
4. Moira’s struggles continue to mount and as she uses alcohol as a vice to cope, Pete tries to help her through her days. Offering her a shoulder to cry on, Pete hears her out and before long, they’re sharing a passionate kiss.

5. When Pete and Moira’s mistake is exposed to Leyla in the Woolpack, a drunk Moira stumbles out and climbs into the van as Cain desperately tries to stop her. As she drives under the influence of booze, Pete pushes Jacob to safety but ends up fighting for his life when Moira hits him.
6. As Emma and her family anxiously wait for news on Pete, a frantic Moira fears for his life while Cain is worried about the consequences for her. As the police arrive to ask questions, Cain instinctively protects Moira and takes the blame for the accident. But will he be believed?
7. Later, Cain arrives to check on Moira at the farm, fearing for her state of mind. He finds the place trashed and Moira in a terrible state. As she breaks down in his arms, he is there for her and there is a thawing between them on Christmas Day. Will it lead to a reunion?
8. Despite being pushed out of harm’s way, Jacob is not out of the woods and he later collapses in the wake of the accident. As he is rushed back into the care of the hospital, what will David and Leyla learn is wrong with him?
9. Finn is worried about performing in the bedroom with Kasim and opens up to Tracy about his worries that he will be no good. Tracy encourages him to go for it and hopes that their night together will be a success but will everything go to plan?

10. Finn and Kasim’s relationship is soon moving at record speed as Finn starts to smother his boyfriend and an even more intense Emma suggests that he moves in with them! When Leyla picks up on Kasim’s doubts, she tries to put Finn off presenting him with tickets to Australia but he doesn’t listen and soon Kasim is considering walking out.
11. Emma is facing more frustration as she just wants her Christmas to be with her boys – so Leyla’s presence is not a welcome one. Leyla is soon accidentally winding Emma up by making jokes about her intense behaviour with Kasim.
12. Jimmy and Nicola hit troubled waters yet again and the kids are a little bit sick of it. As the couple continue to bicker, they are worried to notice the children are nowhere to be seen. But the kids have a plan in mind to ensure they sort their differences out. Will it pay off?
13. Zak offers to get Lisa a tree from Home Farm and when she heads out with him, they are soon reminiscing about all of the trouble they used to get into together. When Lisa pulls Zak to the ground after hearing a noise, sparks fly as they lie close to each other.

14. At the Dingle household on Christmas Day, Joanie is worried to pick up on Zak’s joy at having a family day. And things only get worse when a recording is played that shows Zak admitting that he doesn’t want to move away with Joanie. As a devastated Joanie slips out, will the way be paved for a Zak and Lisa reunion?
15. Her heart broken, Joanie makes a huge decision and heads out of the village, taking Kyle with her. With Cain beside himself over losing Kyle, Lisa tracks Joanie down and implores her to come back. But can she be convinced?
16. Kerry has her eyes on the prize as she seeks to get her compensation from Jai. As the day of the hearing arrives, she is hopeful when Pierce suggests that they might be able to settle out of court. But how much will she walk away with?
17. Kerry continues to behave irresponsibly after a lonely Christmas and after getting drunk, a man tries to take advantage of her state and Joanie rushes to the rescue when she sees Kerry being bundled into a van. But there’s even more trouble ahead as things get out of hand.
18. Ronnie is uncomfortable after Lawrence buys him a really lavish watch for Christmas and Lawrence feels bad as he explains that it’s too much. Later, Chrissie hears Ronnie conducting a deal over the phone and then finds Eric with the watch. Buying it back, Chrissie confronts Ronnie, but how will he explain?

19. Chrissie is annoyed when Rebecca invites half of the village to the New Year party at Home Farm and sets about sabotaging the picture slideshow Bex has made. As Rebecca finds out, she turns the tables and watches smugly as the video is played.
20. Things are tense between David and Tracy and while David is confident things will work themselves out, Leyla finds Tracy crying over the wedding album and warns David he needs to put things right before he loses her.
