    Monday 1

Todd tells Billy that the police aren't taking him seriously over Phelan's scam, after he wrongly reported Eileen missing. Todd squares up to Phelan and vows to find proof of the building scam to give to the police. Phelan is unnerved by Todd's threats and phones Vinny to warn him.

Phelan calls Todd to invite him for a chat at the development site. However, when Phelan spots the contents of Vinny's holdall at the site, he is alarmed to realise the lengths to which Vinny is prepared to go to silence Todd...

Meanwhile, when Todd leaves his phone in The Rovers, Sean answers a call and is shocked when it's the bishop on the other end. What could it mean?

Elsewhere, Cathy promises to raise a £15,000 reservation fee so that Alex can move into one of the flats, despite Anna warning that it's bound be dodgy if Phelan is involved.

Also, Sonia suggests to Sharif that they should make the most of the empty house when they're left alone. Will Sharif be able to resist temptation?

Finally, Audrey rebukes Freddie for abandoning her in the middle of their date, while Beth begs Kirk to come home.

Cathy Matthews is convinced by Eileen Grimshaw and ignores Anna Windass's warnings about Phelan in Coronation Street.

    Monday 2

Billy is shocked to realise that Todd was the one who tipped off the bishop. Todd claims that he merely set Billy free from a religion that wouldn't accept the real him. Billy is furious and ends his relationship with Todd.

Later, Vinny and Phelan are gobsmacked when Todd turns up at the site and announces that he wants in on the deal, declaring that he's reverting to type following Billy's rejection. Back on the dark side, he'll happily fleece the neighbours - but he stipulates that Eileen and Jason mustn't lose a penny or he will scupper the project. Will Phelan and Vinny agree?

Meanwhile, Yasmeen drives Cathy to Alex's dad Nigel's house. But when Cathy knocks on the door, a hostile Nigel refuses to discuss Alex and slams it in her face.

Elsewhere, Sharif is guilt-ridden after sleeping with Sonia and it doesn't take long for Alya to notice their intimacy.

Also, Aidan is impressed by by Alya and Sinead's old sideline designs when he finds the drawings at Underworld, while Audrey tells Freddie they should just stay friends while he's still grieving.

    Wednesday

Cathy is preoccupied following recent events and Roy realises that she may have forgotten his birthday.

When Cathy returns to Nigel's house, she refuses to be fobbed off and forces her way inside. She rants at Nigel for deserting Alex as a child and scoffs at the measly allowance he sends. Nigel snaps and darkly suggests she looks into the source of the payments. Refusing to elaborate, Nigel throws Cathy out.

At the same time, realising Cathy really has forgotten, Anna, Alex and Ken arrange a party for Roy at the café, intending to let Cathy take the credit. However, when Cathy turns up, she's the one who's clearly surprised by the party taking place. Roy hides his hurt that she forgot his birthday.

Rattled by Nigel's words, Cathy rifles through Alex's bank statements. Cathy informs Yasmeen that Alex's allowance payments carry a strange reference, which have made her wonder whether Nigel is Alex's dad or not...

Meanwhile, Phelan coaches Todd in selling the vision of the new flats, supplying him with a glossy brochure to impress the punters. Todd is uncomfortable when Phelan gets him to target Alex. When he sees Billy watching with disapproval, a guilty Todd abandons his sales pitch. However, Phelan warns Todd that if their venture fails, it's Jason and Eileen who will lose out.

Elsewhere, Alya admits to Zeedan and Rana that she's worried about Sonia and Sharif flirting.

Also today, Alya is thrilled when Aidan expresses interest in reviving her sideline project, Kevin encourages Freddie to follow his heart when it comes to Audrey, while Mary offers to replace Todd in the flower shop.

    Friday 1

When Nigel ignores her messages, a furious Cathy leaves Alex in charge of the café and storms out. Roy finds the café in chaos with Alex yelping in agony, having scalded his arm, and takes him to A&E.

Later at Nigel's house, Cathy bangs on the window, demanding the truth about Alex. As Cathy sits outside his house refusing to budge, Nigel caves and invites her inside. Cathy asks Nigel outright if Alex is his son. Will she get the answer she fears?

Meanwhile, Alya tells Sonia that she's outstayed her welcome at Number 6, but Sonia is shocked by her bluntness. When Sonia reveals that Alya seems to be onto them, Sharif decides it's time she moved out. Sensing his panic, a devious Sonia suggests he buys one of Phelan's flats for her.

Later, Sharif confronts Alya about her outburst. Alya is unrepentant, telling her granddad that Sonia clearly fancies him. Sharif's unnerved by how near she is to the truth and agrees to convince Yasmeen that buying a flat is a sound investment for them - and Sonia can rent somewhere else while it's being built.

Elsewhere, Aidan is impressed when Alya and Sinead excitedly outline their bespoke design ideas, but Johnny will take more convincing.

Also, Erica takes charge of Aadi and Asha for the day as Mary is busy at the florist's, but they vow to get Mary back when Erica is too strict.

Finally, Freddie is disappointed when Audrey turns down his invitation to lunch.

    Friday 2

With the truth about Alex's paternity now out in the open, Cathy is in shock as Nigel explains how he found out he isn't Alex's father. He apologises to Cathy for keeping her in the dark.

Back at the cafe, Roy returns with Alex. Baffled by Cathy's foul mood, he demands to know why she walked out. As Cathy explains all to Roy, his calm approach doesn't help and she blasts Roy for his lack of understanding. As she storms upstairs, Roy feels like a stranger in his own home and glances sadly at a photo of Hayley.

Meanwhile, Yasmeen and Sharif inform Alya of their plan to invest in a flat and rent it to Sonia. Alya sneers at Sonia's manipulation and Yasmeen is confused by her rudeness.

When Alya refuses to drop her suspicions, Sharif lies and claims that he slept with Sonia once, years ago. A stunned Alya works out that Sharif is buying Sonia's silence by setting her up in a flat. Sharif admits it, but insists he loves Yasmeen and begs Alya not to betray his secret. Will she agree to keep quiet?

Elsewhere, when Alya's vintage designs impress a client, Aidan offers Alya and Sinead a £60 bonus each. Sinead is pleased but Alya furiously accuses Aidan of ripping her off.

Also, Freddie calls at the salon on his motorbike and asks Audrey to join him for a romantic country pub lunch.

Finally, Dev tells Mary that she's breaking the terms of her contract by letting Erica cover her duties.

Does the Phelan story make any sense?

The Nazir affair is ridiculous and I don't care about Cathy.

The whole storyline is rushed and badly done, so no. But since when has that stopped Kate Oates before?
