He's depressed and not thinking straight. His self-esteem is zero so he believes that he's not good enough for Whitney. He's therefore acting out of character to try and prove to himself he can make her happy. He'd never steal (especially from his mum) if he was well.

Steve McFadden is really playing this well, they have made him look ill. The scenes with Billy and Phil were good.

The audition scenes with( Casandra) Geraldine were very Corrie which is not a compliment. Its bad enough having amateur hour in Coronation Street without it being hammed up in EastEnders. It does not suit the show.

For me the whole epp was amateurish, contrived and wooden, well apart from Billy and Phils scenes.

Story line wise, Lee isnt a strong enough actor to convey the hole he is in, how he has a deluded wife who cant understand that it isnt sex that is the problem, its just a symptom of depression. The deep chasem Lee cant see any way out of. Then he has a brother who knows he is lying about money yet hasnt stepped in at any point to help other than cause more stress with his threats of outing his loan details pre the wedding.

The panto thing is just ridiculous, but worth it to see Pikey again. "dont tell him your name Pike"
