I don't blame Max for any of this. All the people in Eastenders who do should take a good look at themselves, and see what THEY have done to Max.

karen taylor who barely knows him even said he has evil eyes you can tell it in the eyes something like that

the show just don't want to punish ian jane phil lauren and sharon instead make max as bad as they can, martin will probably blame him for taking advantage of his mentally sick wife, forcing himself on her

Yes, it all goes back to DTC's days. He got the show into a complete mess with what was really an insoluble problem and then just p1ssed off, leaving whoever came behind him to clear it all up. However, it was obvious that they were not going to get rid of Ian, Phil and Sharon, so they were forced into the ridiculous storyline we have seen taking shape ever since.

Sadly, the whole thing really does leave a very sour taste in the mouth, both morally and dramatically.
