When Brad disappears for the day, Ned is further convinced that he is cheating on Lauren with Terese. He confides in Piper and then confronts Brad, who refuses to explain himself. Meanwhile, Ned continues to be drawn closer to Lauren.

John asks Karl to try and access his past using hypnotherapy. But when he’s confronted with visions of flames, Karl is forced to snap John out of it. Completely unaware of what's happened, Paige asks John out on a date.

It's Xanthe's 16th Birthday and Aaron's determined to make her party the social event of the year. But when Sheila goes to court and gets off with a fine, Alison's mum decides on a revenge plan – a rival party that results in Xanthe's event being a total fail. Determined not give up, Xanthe asks Angus to help her make her birthday memorable…

Amy finds condoms in Xanthe's bag and offers to teach her how to use protection... but it backfires when Sheila finds a discarded condom in Xanthe's bedroom. Later, Sheila comes barging in to surprise the teenagers in Angus's room and drags Xanthe out the door.

Paige sees John freaking out in a hypnotherapy session and as Karl refers him onto a psychiatrist, he admits to Paige he has a strong feeling stopping him from acting on his attraction to her. Disappointed, Paige is oblivious that a stranger is photographing John as they speak.

Aaron arranges for Paul to work with the SES clean-up so he can photograph him doing "community work" - but Nate accuses Aaron of exploiting the SES. Later, Nate accidently reverses into Paul but wonders if people think a dejected Paul has done it on purpose.

Walter waits for Sonya outside the AA meeting venue, but avoids interacting with Toadie.

Meanwhile, after seeing Paul suffering in hospital, Terese goes to the pub and is joined by Walter, who refrains from drinking alcohol – will the pair do something they regret?

Nate discovers he's hit Paul with his car and immediately calls an ambulance. Terese arrives at the hospital and feels terrible when she sees Paul telling Amy she's better off without him in her life.

Over drinks, will Nate and Aaron reconcile?

Xanthe asks Angus to book a room so they can go through with their original plan but he refuses. Later, Angus confesses to setting off the school fire alarm but Ben's furious when he discovers how lenient Susan's been with him. His rant results in Angus learning his mum, Sarah, had a fling with Karl.

Meanwhile, Xanthe receives a disturbing text...

I don't think it's that simple. When she was talking to Amy about him, I thought I detected a wistful moment. Also, notice how she convinced Brad to immediately go the police with his suspicions about Ned. I don't think she would have done that if she wasn't secretly looking for another explanation.

However, while she can see no alternative, she'll hate Paul and will refuse to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Why does she want Paul to be guilty then?

I think Terese believes that he is guilty. But she had feelings for Paul. And it's double hard for her.

She still grieves for Josh. She wants the person responsible for his death to be punished. Perhaps she thought that once Paul is punished her pain of losing her son will go away (at least a bit). But the pain is still there.
