Exclamation Holby City Spoilers 12th April 2016

    'Dark Night Of The Soul'

Jesse is struggling after his mother's death. En route back from the cremation, Jesse's dad Thomas is admitted to Holby after a fall.

It's clear that Jesse wants to avoid any emotional intimacy with his father, but when it seems Thomas has lost the will to live, Jesse makes a momentous decision.

Meanwhile, Mo believes the best way to treat Ina's heart condition is with surgery, but when Sir Dennis disagrees, she's obliged to defer to his decision. However, when Dennis makes a serious error with Ina's medication, despite her mother's written wishes for non-intervention, Mo takes matters into her own hands.

Elsewhere, when Ric and Bernie disagree over the treatment of a patient with a penile fracture, Bernie reckons Ric has had a sense of humour bypass. But Ric and the patient share an appreciation of poker and boxing so Ric arranges an impromptu card game, taking his team and Mr. Hanssen by surprise.

After his mother's cremation, Jesse brings his father, Thomas, onto AAU after a fall. It's clear Jesse has a strained relationship with Thomas, especially when he leaves his father alone on the ward. Jesse then bumps into Mo, who's own mother, Ina, has end-stage heart failure.

Mo fears her mum will die if they don’t operate – but there's a Do Not Resuscitate order in place, which prohibits this. Jesse, however, reveals Ina had just verbally withdrawn the DNR and wants to help – he's just lost his mum, he doesn't want Mo to lose hers!

Later, when Jesse discovers Thomas has been refusing treatment for diabetes, saying he has nothing to live for now his wife is gone, he decides to start putting his father first. Jesse then makes a shock announcement…

Also, Ric takes the case of a patient with an injury to a very delicate part of his anatomy very seriously. Can the patient help Ric find his own funny bone?
