Things aren't looking to get any easier for new parents Gemma Winter and Chesney Brown, as the Coronation Street couple are set to get some life-changing news about one of the quadruplets.

As well as dealing with the fallout from an upcoming house fire, the couple will have to come to terms with the news that their baby boy Aled is deaf.

The ITV soap has worked alongside Trafford Deaf Children's Society and Great Ormond Street Hospital on the storyline, which hopes to raise awareness of how a hearing diagnosis can affect the whole family and shine a light on the help that is out there for them.

A spokesperson for the soap told Digital Spy: "This is a very important story to tell and will resonate with many parents who have gone through their children being diagnosed with hearing problems and the challenges that this throws up for the child, the parents and the whole family."

Elsewhere on the Cobbles, Gemma and Chesney's home is nearly set on fire after someone pushes a burning rag through the letterbox and spray paints 'PAEDO' over the window, mistakenly believing Bernie's ex-boyfriend Kel lives there.

A stunned Chesney arrives home to realise that Gemma is asleep upstairs with the quads, but with the help of Abi, manages to put out the flames before anyone gets seriously hurt.

Coronation Street star Dolly-Rose Campbell has hinted that the show will be exploring a mental health storyline for Gemma Winter.

The ITV soap has recently been showing personal struggles for Gemma, who has doubted her parenting abilities since becoming a mum to quadruplets.

Next week's episodes see Gemma attend a baby senses class with the quads, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the story.

Class leader Vanessa and her friend Imogen make an effort to get to know Gemma, complimenting her on her parenting skills. Gemma laps up the attention, unaware that the spiteful pair are mocking her behind her back.

Speaking about the new storyline, Dolly-Rose explained: "Gemma finds it quite comforting to meet other mums who seem to be supportive of her and meet other mums who are going through similar struggles to her – and that is just with one baby. She had felt very isolated as she doesn't have friends who have babies.

"On the face of it, Vanessa and Imogen are not Gemma's usual type of people. They seem very posh, neat and tidy and well put together. They look like they are in control and are breezing through motherhood, so in some way they are what she aspires to be.

"They are the Freshco's personified. So to be accepted on the face of it by these yummy mummies makes her feel great and less alone.

"Gemma doesn't know that they find her a figure of fun and are laughing at her, not with her, which is awful. They aren't genuine at all. They like her because it gives them someone to look down on. She makes them feel better about themselves because they are grateful they are not like her and they are coping better than her."

Dolly-Rose added that there may be more to Gemma's low moods than initially meets the eye, hinting at a possible depression story.

She said: "Meeting these women, while she enjoys spending time with them, isn't helping Gemma's feelings of inadequacy. But as time goes on, it is going to become clear that there is more to it than that.

"Gemma has no idea that this may be a medical problem – she does not know that at this stage."

Coronation Street's Gemma Winter goes full steam ahead with wedding planning later this year.

Dolly-Rose Campbell, who plays Gemma, has been spotted filming on location as her character looks forward to tying the knot with long-term partner Chesney Brown.

Paparazzi photographers caught the moment that Gemma visits a dress shop to look for the perfect gown.

The new scenes see Gemma try on a variety of wedding dresses for her upcoming marriage to Chesney.

Gemma is joined by her mum Bernie and brother Paul Foreman, but will they be able to help her make the all-important choice?

The wedding storyline has been running since the start of this year, when Gemma reflected on her own relationship after Chesney's sister Fiz tied the knot with Tyrone Dobbs.

In January, Gemma confided in Bernie about how she wanted to be the next member of the family to make it down the aisle.

Bernie encouraged Gemma to take charge of the wedding planning, but thrifty Chesney threw a spanner in the works by claiming that a wedding would be a waste of money.

With the Winter-Brown clan regularly struggling for cash, Chesney questioned whether an expensive ceremony was really such a good idea.

However, after some words of wisdom from Dev Alahan, Chesney later changed his stance and agreed that they could start saving up.

Speaking recently, Dolly-Rose explained: "[Gemma] knows what [Chesney] says is true, but she is just weary with it all.

"She has got to the point where she would like to be able to try and put some money aside, or do something to try and earn more so she can have something to look forward to and do something nice for herself, rather than the money always going on the mundane necessities."

Coronation Street has released the first pictures of Gemma Winter's wedding dress, which was created by a RuPaul's Drag Race UK star.

The showstopping bright orange dress is two metres wide and has a seven-metre train, with over 125 fairy lights in it, and was designed by Liquorice Black, who has designed outfits for Drag Race UK, as well as hosting behind-the-scenes shows with its stars, plus was part of the team behind Drag SOS.

Dolly Rose Campbell, who plays Gemma, worked with Liquorice Black and Corrie's head of costume Alex Hatzar to create the dress. She said: "Myself and Alex in costume had lots of discussions about what Gemma would want as her dream dress and had put some ideas together. We decided on orange as a nod to Gemma and Chesney being ginger and also Gemma loves bright colours.

?Liquorice and I have a mutual friend and I had seen an exhibition of their work and knew they had worked on RuPaul?s Drag Race UK so I knew that they would be the best person to make the dress, I was absolutely delighted when they said yes.?

In the world of Coronation Street, Gemma has bought the dress from a charity shop and her friend Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) has dyed and customised it. In reality, Liquorice Black spent over 200 hours in their studio creating the dress, and had to make a second smaller version of the skirt so Dolly's co-stars could get near enough for close-up shots.

Liquorice Black said: ?I had a meeting with Dolly and the head of costume and the two of them completely convinced me that it would be a really fun project to do and they had faith that I could make their vision come to reality. So I accepted.

?Dolly wanted a really long train, and lights and flowers. Lots of collaborative ideas were thrown together. It wasn't a case of ?could you make something?? and then I just went away and did it, it was very much a team effort.

?I am from Manchester so it has been such an honour to work on this dress and to be asked to be involved in the filming of a wedding on the show. Coronation Street is a UK institution and I am so grateful to be a small part of Corrie history. I can?t wait to see it on screen.?

Coronation Street's Gemma Winter-Brown accused of poisoning stepson Joseph

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/cor...soning-joseph/

Gemma Winter-Brown is accused of poisoning stepson Joseph in upcoming Coronation Street scenes.

Viewers will know that Gemma has been struggling with all of her responsibilities in recent months, culminating in her rushing Joseph to A&E over her concerns he was ill.

While it turns out the young boy was fine in that instance, the ordeal makes Gemma doubt herself in upcoming scenes when Joseph complains he's not feeling well.

Chesney is eventually called out of work to pick up Joseph from school, and he gets upset with Gemma for not taking the boy at his word.

Gemma is understandably hurt by Chesney's criticism, leading to her walking out after describing herself as a "terrible mother".

She tries to focus on the family's early Christmas celebration, which has been planned because Bernie may be behind bars on the actual holiday. However, Chesney is concerned that Joseph still isn't feeling well.

Gemma takes Bernie's suggestion that Joseph drink some lavender tea, only for the child to pass out shortly after having some.

Chesney takes Joseph for another check at the hospital and he's stunned when the doctor reveals that Joseph has been poisoned.

Back on the cobbles, the family are in the middle of their early Christmas celebration, though the mood is soured when Chesney returns home with a child protection officer to interview Gemma.

Once everyone clears out, Gemma is forced by the officer to face questions over whether she intentionally poisoned Joseph.

Will Gemma get to the bottom of the traumatic incident?
