Mac Nightingale may be loving his new life as the Hollyoaks pub landlord, but he's about to learn the hard way that weddings in the village never run smoothly.

The Dog's new boss is all set to tie the knot with his younger girlfriend Neeta Kaur next week, but his secret history with Cindy Savage (Stephanie Waring) could spoil the day in dramatic fashion.

Mac (David Easter) is currently blissfully unaware that he is still married to Cindy, after she sneakily fooled him with some fake annulment papers late last year.

Despite her deception, Cindy is haunted by her conscience when Mac and Neeta's big day finally arrives - wondering whether she can really let the couple go ahead with exchanging their vows.

Interrupting the ceremony, Cindy seems ready to finally drop her bombshell on both Mac and Neeta (Amrit Maghera). Will she ruin their magical day?

Hollyoaks fans can expect tears and twists tonight (January 4) as the show kicks off 2016 with Patrick Blake's dramatic exit scenes.

Viewers have known that terminally-ill Patrick would die for several months now, but show bosses have managed to keep the exact nature of his final moments tightly under wraps.

Patrick has spent the past few weeks plotting to frame his partner Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) for his murder after convincing her to help him die.

The former headteacher of Hollyoaks High has been battling with motor neurone disease and wants to pass away before he completely loses his mobility. However, he also sees the evil opportunity to punish Maxine one last time - convinced that she doesn't really love him.

With fans on tenterhooks to see how the storyline concludes, Hollyoaks will finally reveal Patrick's fate in tonight's E4 first look episode at 7pm.

Patrick and Maxine will go ahead with their vow renewal in emotional scenes, but the aftermath sees Maxine get cold feet about her promise to help with his suicide.

Telling Patrick that she loves him too much to help him die, Maxine rushes out and leaves him wondering what this means for him and his scheming. Can Maxine be talked round, or will somebody else step in to take her place?

Jeremy Sheffield, who plays Patrick, recently teased his exit by telling Digital Spy: "It's surprising but also rather shocking. It's going to be huge for the Blakes. What Patrick's exit does is set in place huge spinoff storylines that go on and on afterwards. They become massive and go on for a very long time, so the repercussions echo way down into the future."

Hollyoaks airs the highly-charged scenes tonight (January 4) at 7pm on E4.
