EastEnders will air Denise Van Outen's first scenes next month as her character Karin Smart arrives on Albert Square looking for Phil Mitchell.

It was announced earlier this year that the actress had been cast in a guest role, but details surrounding her character have been kept under wraps until now.

Karin's arrival comes as the war between Max Branning (Jake Wood) and Phil intensifies, with Phil desperately searching for ways to seek revenge on Max after he deceitfully took over The Arches earlier in the year.

When Karin arrives in Walford in search of Phil, she is quickly intercepted by a curious Max and the pair start talking.

Unaware that there is more to Karin than meets the eye, Max is soon doing a business deal with Karin after she makes him an offer he can't refuse.

After Max falls for Karin's charms, the pair soon head back to his place, but is all what it seems? And where will Karin's loyalties lie in the battle between Max and Phil?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Thursday, April 9 at 7.30pm on BBC One.

The Carters are shocked by Buster's unexpected return to Walford. Not everyone is pleased to see Buster, as his presence reminds Mick of all the lies and deceit within the Carter family. As they catch up, Buster invites Shirley to move to Greece and start a new life with him, which she agrees to.

Later, the tension between Mick and Shirley continues to build as Stan's condition deteriorates. Shirley shares her plans to move away that night, but when she bumps into Phil, he encourages her to think carefully about whether it's the right decision. Concerned about her family, Shirley then takes matters into her own hands - with dramatic consequences.

Meanwhile, Alfie and Stacey are by Kat's bedside as she pulls through the worst following her suicide attempt. Alfie assures Kat that he will be there for her.

Mick and Buster clash following yesterday's events, but Buster eventually realises that Shirley may have been responsible for what happened rather than Mick. Buster threatens to leave Albert Square without Shirley, but a conversation with Nancy and Lee makes him realise that staying for his family is more important.

At the same time, Mick and Tina are trying to make Stan's final days as comfortable as possible, so they try to get his favourite chair to the hospice. However, it soon becomes clear that Stan doesn't want to be in the hospice and is more interested in his upcoming wedding to Cora, suggesting that the ceremony should take place tomorrow.

As the day continues, Stan intervenes in the latest family dispute, urging Shirley and Mick to bury the hatchet. After speaking to Linda about the situation, Mick pays a visit to Shirley in the hope of resolving their issues, but he is left disappointed when she slams the door in his face.

Meanwhile, Alfie, Stacey and Mo try to make Kat feel comfortable after she is discharged from hospital.

Elsewhere, Jay is forced to choose sides when the war between Max and Phil intensifies. Max is keen to keep the boys on side.

Also today, Phil tries to snoop for information at The Arches but is unable to find anything.

It's the day of Stan and Cora's wedding, but the tension between Shirley and Mick is threatening to ruin things as they refuse to be in the same room as each other. Tina is annoyed by their behaviour and has some tough words for Shirley in particular. Shirley arrives for the wedding after all with Buster in tow, but she leaves again after Mick angrily lashes out.

At the same time, Stan receives a visit from Babe and Sylvie and it becomes clear that he is keeping his own secret from his wife-to-be. Stan and Sylvie say an emotional goodbye, but they are spotted by Babe. Manipulative Babe is thrilled to share their secret with Cora, but it isn't enough to deter Cora and she still plans to go ahead with the wedding. Babe is then forced to leave following some harsh words from Stan.

Meanwhile, Carol receives a phone call to tell her that Jim has died. Martin decides to tell Sonia the truth about losing the house, but Sonia doesn't have a chance to take in the news before she learns the sad news about her grandfather.

Elsewhere, newcomer Karin Smart arrives in Walford looking for Phil, but Max intercepts her. Unaware that not everything is as it seems with this widow, Max makes a business deal with Karin and they end up back at his place.

Also today, Kat and Alfie try to prove that they are capable parents when they receive a visit from the social worker. Despite Alfie's support, it becomes clear that Kat has got a long way to go before she is back to her usual self.

Stan's health is now deteriorating rapidly. Mick, Shirley and Tina manage to put their differences to one side so they can put on a united front in support of him. When Tina heads home to get some rest, Shirley and Mick have a heart-to-heart and admit that they miss each other. Shirley soon becomes worried about her son and sends him home, assuring him that she can cope spending some time at the hospital with Stan by herself.

Shirley remains at Stan's bedside and refuses to let go of him. After some final words from Stan, he peacefully slips away.

Meanwhile, the Brannings are struggling following the news of Jim's death. Carol is unhappy when Max prioritises his car sales over Jim, but she is also finding it difficult to grieve herself since she and Jim were at odds for most of her life. It's left to Sonia to visit Dot in prison and break the news. She returns home with a letter from Dot to Carol, which urges her to remember the best of her father. Afterwards, Carol finally breaks down in Sonia's arms.

Elsewhere, Buster tries his best to build bridges between the troubled Carter family. Linda is apprehensive, but Buster manages to worm his way in via Lee and Nancy.

New EastEnders pictures have been released showing the aftermath of Dean Wicks's surprise return to Albert Square.

Dean (Matt Di Angelo) reappeared in Walford at the end of Friday night's episode, arriving back at the Queen Vic with his father Buster Briggs.

The return of both men will make a big impact on the Carter family next week, starting off when Buster tells Shirley that he wants to move to Greece to start a new life with her and Dean.

Shirley agrees to the suggestion, but when she later bumps into her ex-partner Phil Mitchell, he gives her food for thought and leaves her wondering whether it's really the right decision. Concerned about her family, Shirley then takes matters into her own hands by making a surprising move.

At the same time, one of Stan Carter's last wishes is granted when Dean arrives to see him at the hospital, despite Mick (Danny Dyer) being against the idea.

Dean gives Stan (Timothy West) some whisky as a present, but Mick is furious when he turns up and witnesses this, immediately giving Dean his marching orders.

Later, there is a further twist for the Carters when Dean is arrested. Viewers know that Dean breached his bail conditions with his disappearance, and Buster is quick to blame Mick by suggesting that he must have tipped off the police over Dean's return.

After the latest row, however, Buster realises that Shirley may have actually been responsible rather than Mick. Is he right?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Monday (April 6) at 8pm and Tuesday (April 7) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
