its probably more likely that she has let the house go and has'nt paid the bills etc. i remember when my Dad died everything my mum received stopped and if she did not have grown up kids she would not have had money to get a pint of milk!

Thats the most likely reason -as its Corrie-
and pendantic Roy would be good at dealing
with officialdom.! on her behalf.

Your mum was fortunate to have you and your
siblings to help.Most people have someone.
But so far it doesnt seem from what we know
that this lady has.

Bills arent really a "dark" secret- tho distressing
and stressful.
The secret may be something no one has
thought of yet!

If she didnt inform authorities about husbands
death- money wouldnt stop until a periodic
check revealed the truth or she may have
managed to continue deception.

When such cases are in the news -it is as
often panic as much as dishonesty that
causes the initial deception.

We will find out the dark secret in due course.
Its interesting now and again to have a story
line thats not predictable but does happen in
real life.!

Yes-Im.sure thats a possibilty. Grief affects
people differently and I think that one of the
main points they are making with this story
is - she has lost her husband and there are
other issues( whatever they turn out to be)
and she has no one to turn to and no support


Which is why Roy becomes involved.??

That was suggested early on when story was
first mooted and would be a dark secret and
make a link.to Roy.

I did also wonder about the money aspect and
thought she might have a problem with dyslexia
and so cant read the bills etc.
( which is an important issue) but theyve already
bodged that one with Tim.

So then I thought her husband has probably
been ill for some time and they were probably on
benefits and is she concealing his death to
continue receiving them. You do read of
such cases which have gone on for years.

She doesnt seem to have a job and most
employers insist on paying wages into
bank account now. I presume character
in her 50s- I suppose its still possible that
they may be some who leave all money
matters to husband-but much less likely than
in previous generations . How did she pay for
funeral -cost many thousands now?
Perhaps not had one- but that would be too
dark for Corrie surely !!

There are cases in news and papers tho.
There was one in national news last year
where a couple claimed her fathers pension for
many years after having murdered both
father & mother . Only when fathers name
came up on a government ?? computer as
being due to have 100th birthday were checks
made and a relative had become suspicious
also.

And a woman who looked after her
mother kept claiming pension after
she died because she relied on the
money!! That came to light thru
routine checks.

I think Ive got general details above
correct- not sure of finer points!
There are sometimes other "smaller"
cases done for partly understandable
reasons -as well.

if she had debts the allotment site would be taken and if she killed and secretly buried her husband why say he is dead from cancer
