Carly Hope

Former Hollyoaks and Casualty star Gemma Atkinson has been tipped to join Emmerdale in the role of Carly Hope.

Carly, who is the daughter of long-term character Bob, has previously appeared on the show for brief stints in 2001 and 2006, portrayed by actress Rebecca Ryan.

The Sun reports that Carly will be making her way back to the Dales next year with Atkinson taking over the part.

Bob has already seen stepdaughter Donna return this year but was left devastated by her tragic death in the summer.

Carly returning next year would no doubt give both him and Brenda more to do following a quieter time for the couple.

When approached by Digital Spy, an Emmerdale spokesperson declined to comment on the casting rumours.

Atkinson is known for her roles as Lisa Hunter on Hollyoaks and Tamzin Bayle in Casualty.

Lol, as a script writer (in my own time) and in my very fictitious, very imaginative head, I have a feeling that's already been thought of. Bob tells Ross Donna would want him to be happy eventually, who better to pair him up with than his very daughter. As they haven't drafted me in as a love interest, I am a lot jealous at the prospect. If they don't get together there's certainly likely to be a "friends with benefits" scenario ��
