EastEnders airs Jean Slater and Stacey Branning's return scenes early next month as mother and daughter appear on screen together for the first time in over three years.

The latest Slater storyline kicks off when Jean and Lily pay an unexpected visit to Kat and Alfie, turning up on their doorstep without warning.

Jean (Gillian Wright) isn't entirely honest with Kat and Alfie when they ask why she has decided to return to Walford, but it's clear that the reason involves Stacey (Lacey Turner) when she insists on going to see her in prison.

As the visit takes place, Jean's true intentions are revealed as she tells her daughter that she has found a way to get her out of jail.

Stacey is shocked by Jean's plan, but what is it and will she agree to go along with it?

Jean tells Stacey her plan about an appeal and Kat agrees it might be worth a try.

Mick Carter finds himself caught right in the middle of Ian Beale's latest predicament next week.

Ian is about to face more trouble with Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks) when she arrives back on Albert Square and demands even more money from him.

Rainie is still threatening to reveal that Ian paid her for sex unless he buys her silence, which forces the hapless businessman to get some more cash together for her.

Meeting up with Rainie in secret, Ian desperately hopes to pay her off once and for all - but his plans hit a stumbling block when Mick (Danny Dyer) spots them by chance.

While driving home from the swimming gala, Mick sees Ian and Rainie in a heated discussion and parks up behind them.

When a nervous Ian immediately speeds off and the police pull round the corner, it's Mick who ends up in the firing line as he is arrested for kerb crawling.

With Rainie refusing to confirm his innocence and Ian nowhere to be seen, it's not looking good for Mick!

EastEnders airs these scenes in an hour-long episode on Thursday, August 7 at 7.30pm on BBC One.

    Monday

Kat thinks that her babies are on the way, so cunning Alfie rushes her off to a children's shop, hoping that they will give her free gifts if her waters break there! However, it turns out to be a false alarm.

Later, when Alfie returns to work, he is shocked to find that his pitch has been given away. Ruthless Aleks refuses to give it back until a sympathetic Roxy intervenes. As the day continues, Aleks learns that Alfie went to his boss over the dispute. Aleks goes to the Moons' house and calls a truce with Alfie, but it's all a front as he is secretly planning to take revenge.

Soon afterwards, the day of surprises continues as Alfie finds Jean and Lily at the door…

Meanwhile, the police ask Ian to front a television appeal for new information regarding Lucy's murder, as the investigation has stalled. Ian agrees, but deep down he's not sure whether it's the right thing to do. His day improves when Liam helps out at the café while it is busy, but things take a turn for the worse again when Rainie arrives looking for more money.

Elsewhere, as Dot marks the centenary of World War I, Whitney is proud as Lee lowers the flag in his full army uniform. She then plucks up the courage to tell Bianca that she is seeing Lee.

Also today, Mick hides his nerves from his family as he prepares for the swimming gala.

    Tuesday

It's the day of the swimming gala. Shirley offers Mick a way out as she can see how nervous he is, but he is determined not to let his family down.

At the same time, Dean isn't happy when he learns that Mick is only doing one lap of the pool compared to his own 19. When the time comes for Mick's big moment, can he complete the lap?

Meanwhile, Ian remains under pressure due to Rainie's blackmail. He gets some money together to pay off Rainie once and for all, but Mick spots them parked up together as he drives home from the swimming gala. Ian speeds off when Mick parks up behind him, but then the police pull round the corner…

Elsewhere, as Kat and Alfie wonder why Jean is back in Walford, she tells them that she has left Ollie. However, when visiting Stacey, Jean's true intentions become clear - she drops a bombshell by telling her daughter that she has found a way to get her out of prison…

Also, Stan arranges a belated birthday celebration for Cora. Cora is glad to have some alone time with Stan, so is disappointed when her granddaughters appear and interrupt.

    Thursday

    Hour-long episode

Kat and Stacey are shocked when Kat's waters break
Stacey dismisses Jean's suggestion that she should appeal against her conviction. Jean and Kat are both left disappointed as Stacey vows to serve her time. Later, Jean confides in Kat and shares her fears about being a good nan to Lily. Kat vows to support her while Stacey is in prison, but back at the house, the day takes a worrying turn as Kat finds that Jean has collapsed in the kitchen.

Once word spreads about what has happened to Jean, Stacey is escorted into the hospital by her prison officers to see her mum. Stacey ends up toying with her conscience at the hospital, but everything is put on hold when Kat's waters suddenly break…

Meanwhile, Mick is taken into custody after being arrested for kerb crawling. Rainie refuses to confirm his innocence, while a panicking Ian isn't any help either as he disappears. Later, Mick confronts Ian, who is forced to come clean by admitting that he was with Rainie on the night that Lucy was murdered. Ian begs Mick not to reveal this secret, especially as it could affect the upcoming public appeal. Will Mick agree?

Mick tells a shocked Linda about what happened with the police and Ian
Later, Mick arrives home at The Vic and the Carters are unaware of his ordeal. Mick doesn't tell Linda what happened, but his secret is short-lived when she receives a phone call. When Linda demands the truth from Mick, he is forced to come clean - but Cora has stayed over with Stan and overhears some of the conversation.

Elsewhere, Alfie leaves a message on the market office voicemail as he is calling in sick, but Aleks leaves Tamwar disgusted by deleting it and pretending that he never received it. Later, Alfie is furious to find that his pitch has been given away again. After he storms into Aleks's office, the two men clash again and Alfie is left unemployed as a result. Alfie ends up turning to the café in his hour of need and helps Liam behind the counter.

Also today, Dean confides in Stan about a woman that he has his eye on. Stan encourages him to go for it, unaware of who Dean is referring to.

    Friday

At the hospital, Stacey is taken away as Kat goes into labour.

Soon afterwards, Alfie, Mo, Tommy and Lily descend on the hospital for the twins' impending arrival. Do the Moons have a happy future ahead as Kat gives birth to two baby boys?

Meanwhile, Cora is shocked to see Rainie and soon realises that she was the prostitute involved in Mick's arrest. However, Rainie wants nothing to do with Cora and they soon go their separate ways again. Later at the pub, Cora isn't impressed by Mick's 'doting family man' attitude and rants at him in front of the packed pub - announcing his arrest to the locals…

Elsewhere, when Dean sees Linda, he can sense that something is wrong and follows her upstairs at the pub. Dean attempts to comfort Linda but she dismisses him. Back downstairs, Lauren is hoping to 'casually' bump into Dean and her plan works when he buys her a drink.

Also today, Peter and Denise are worried about Ian's lack of focus. They assume it's because of the upcoming TV appeal, not realising that it's actually because of the drama with Rainie.
