Hollyoaks schemer Patrick Blake will break down in tears on the day of his wedding to Maxine Minniver, begging his terrified partner to stay with him.
The evil headteacher tries to show a softer side to Maxine after she insists that she can't go through with the ceremony.
Maxine is honest with Patrick after he loses control yet again on the morning of the wedding, taking drastic action to ensure that the day goes as planned.
The latest drama kicks off when Dennis Savage turns up at the flat and tries to save Maxine from having to marry her abusive partner.
Nikki Sanderson, who plays Maxine, told All About Soap: "Bless him, he comes to the flat and Patrick very aggressively manhandles him into the bedroom and locks him in. Maxine witnesses it and is absolutely terrified. Patrick drags her to the car and he sees all the hurt and worry in Maxine's face. That's when she says, 'I can't do this'.
"Once again, Patrick the great manipulator gets out of the car crying, which then forces Maxine to get out too and hear what he has to say. He spins her a tale again, but she's heard it all before.
"The only thing different is that he's prepared to go to counselling which he's not said before. Maxine does stop for a minute and think about him getting help, which means he's accepting and acknowledging he's to blame."
While it's clear that Patrick's words have made an impact on Maxine, it remains to be seen whether she will really be fooled by his false promises to change.
Sanderson explained: "You're left wondering whether she's going to turn up at the church. Patrick's stood at the top of the aisle and everyone's wondering where Maxine is. Then she enters, and we'll have to wait and see what happens from there."
Hollyoaks airs these scenes on Wednesday, July 30 at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
