Emmerdale moves to the earlier time of 6.45pm on Thursday, February 20. Rather than the usual Thursday night double, Emmerdale will air as an hour-long episode to make way for football coverage on ITV that evening.

Coming up on Emmerdale, Kerry Wyatt gets more than she bargained for when she tries to help Brenda Walker face up to her problems.

Upcoming episodes see Brenda's stealing finally come to light when her partner Bob Hope sets up a hidden camera in the café in a bid to catch the mystery thief.

When Bob sees indisputable evidence that Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) has been behind the recent thefts, he confronts her privately but decides to tell as few people as possible.

Bob does the right thing by apologising to Ruby Haswell for wrongly accusing her. He also confides in Dan Spencer, who in turn tells Kerry about Brenda's antics.

Kerry is quick to suggest that she might be able to help Brenda in her own unique way, so she starts off by taking her out for a shopping trip.

Unfortunately, things soon go wrong as Kerry gets herself into an argument with another shopper, giving Brenda the opportunity to slip away and steal some clothing.

Kerry only realises what Brenda has done when they leave the store and an alarm sounds, sending them both fleeing…

    Monday

Brenda is shocked and humiliated when Bob admits to catching her stealing on film. Harriet is surprised when Bob tells her that Brenda is the thief.

Despite Brenda hating herself for what she has done and how she is being towards Bob, she later has an outburst and declares she doesn't want his help.

Meanwhile, despite Val being terrified of telling Eric, she is determined to face up to her fears. She tells him that Ian is HIV positive and she is worried that she could be too. Eric sits in stunned silence as the implications of Val's revelation sink in. Soon Val is hurt by Eric's sharp tone, as he privately worries about Diane. Val asks Eric to go with her to the clinic, but will he? Or has she lost him for good?

Elsewhere, Chas is disappointed when James tells her that he's going to France on business, but is soon seething when she realises that Cain has had a part to play in packing him off.

Also today, Bernice decides to take matters into her own hands regarding thieving Anton, and Nicola is intrigued.

Finally, Sam sheepishly asks Declan for his old job back, while Diane suffers from the side effects of the pep pills and her guilt.

    Tuesday

Val is on edge and anxious as she waits at the clinic, willing Eric to arrive. Just when Val thinks he is a no-show, Eric appears. However, with Eric remaining frosty, is he there to support Val or purely to get himself checked?

Soon after the test, the pair are called back in. What will the results say?

Meanwhile, Bob confides in Dan that Brenda is the person stealing things. Bob then finds a way to return some of the stolen items, though people seem suspicious and Bob is left feeling guilty on Brenda's behalf. Dan also decides to tell Kerry the truth about Brenda, who is left thwarted. Later in a heart-to-heart, Brenda opens up to Bob about her stealing. He's touched and promises they can get through it, but can they?

Elsewhere, Nicola and Bernice perfect Nicola's fake online dating profile.

Also today, Megan is annoyed at being kept out of loop with the business and is later irked when Declan appears to side with Charity.

    Wednesday

Val is struggling to cope after being diagnosed HIV positive. In a case of bad timing, preparations are afoot to give Val a surprise birthday party, although Diane is nervous as she knows that Val won't want a fuss. Despite this, everyone at The Woolpack ignores Diane's advice and continue setting up for the surprise.

On walking into the pub, Val reacts badly and Diane rushes after her to take her home. Alone with her sister, a distraught Val privately confides her deepest fears. Unbeknownst to Val, both Diane and Pollard are still wracked with guilt, but will Val learn the truth?

Meanwhile, Bernice and Nicola are determined to snare Anton in a honey trap to recover Jimmy's stolen cufflinks. As they set off to a speed-dating event, the pair work together to catch him. Soon Nicola is flirting to get his number, and the trap is now set…

Elsewhere, Bob is determined to confront Brenda's stealing problem, but is pleased when she agrees to have a check-up. Brenda privately worries about what the scan may show. After her health is ruled out for causing her to steal, Kerry decides that she could be just the tonic to make Brenda face up to her problems. Bob worries, knowing Kerry's methods are bound to be unusual.

Also today, Harriet saves Dom's skin when she steps in to help when he accidentally deletes Gemma's video project.

Finally, Jimmy is suspicious over where Bernice and Nicola have gone when they are not at Val's party.

    Thursday

    Hour-long episode

Jimmy is worried to hear that Nicola is going to trap Anton, but she ignores his concern. On the date, Nicola freaks when Anton suggests going back to hers instead of his. She bolts to the ladies' and desperately phones her wingman Bernice, who doesn't pick up.

After a little while, Anton makes his way towards the ladies' to see what is going on. Nicola worries that she's in deep danger when she hears him outside her cubicle door. What will Anton do, and will Bernice be able to save the day?

Meanwhile, Kerry and Brenda's shopping trip takes a turn for the worse when Kerry gets herself into an argument with another shopper and Brenda quietly slips away. When Kerry and Brenda go to leave the store, the alarm sounds and Kerry realises that Brenda has stolen some clothing. They both leg it and end up hiding in a bin. Brenda is hurt that Kerry knows about her shoplifting habit.

Later at the police station, Kerry is stunned to be told that they've let Brenda go, leaving her no other option than to confess to the theft. Brenda returns to the village but realises that she is not in the clear when Dan and Bob learn what has happened.

Elsewhere, Val throws Eric out of the house. Victoria is also disgusted with Diane when she confesses to her one-night stand with Eric. Eric tries to win Val around, but her anger turns to horror when she causes a bottle to slam into his face. Feeling guilty, Val decides to hear him out, but will she let him back in?

Also today, Jai sacks his private investigator in hope of finding a better solution to track down Archie.

Finally, Ashley watches Harriet lie her way through her video interview for Gemma, stunned that she's got the gall.

    Friday

Kerry feels guilty for her part in Bob and Brenda's problems. She and Dan encourage Bob to talk to Brenda and vice versa, but they're both as stubborn as each other. Dan warns Kerry to leave it, but it's clear she has a plan.

Later at Connelton, Brenda is thrown when Kerry turns up to collect Bob's stuff. Kerry worries that her plan is going awry when Brenda doesn't stop her from leaving, but when she returns to find Brenda in tears and not wanting Bob to go, will her plan to reunite the couple work?

Meanwhile, Val is secretly pleased when Eric won't allow her to go to the clinic on her own, but she's gutted to have her diagnosis confirmed. She is terrified as the doctor goes through the next steps, and Eric feels completely out of his depth.

The doctor tries to remain professional as Eric and Val bicker. A teary Val refuses Eric's comfort, railing at him for betraying her. The doctor is positive about Val's outlook, but tells the couple they need to sort out their differences, as Val needs a strong support network. Heeding the doctor's words, Eric drags Val to clear the air with Diane, but will she forgive and forget?

Elsewhere, Jai is stopped in his tracks when someone calls about Rachel, having spotted his ad in the paper. An optimistic Jai comes off the phone to Mark, having arranged to meet later. He dismisses Rishi's concerns, asking him to just be happy for him. Rishi and Jai meet with Mark, but will he have news of Rachel and Archie?

Also today, a scathing Victoria lays into Diane.

Val Pollard's birthday turns into one to remember for all the wrong reasons in Emmerdale tonight (February 19).

Still reeling after being diagnosed HIV positive, an emotional Val (Charlie Hardwick) is determined not to celebrate her birthday this year as she doesn't feel up to putting on a brave face.

Unfortunately for Val, Chas Dingle and Alicia Harding aren't aware of her recent troubles and decide to throw her a surprise party at The Woolpack.

When Val reacts badly to the kind gesture and storms off, Diane follows her and the sisters have a heart-to-heart. However, as the conversation leads to the truth finally coming out over Diane's one-night stand with Pollard, will Val be able to cope with the betrayal?
