Meanwhile, Coronation Street introduces new character Khalid later this month.

Khalid, or Kal for short, is an ex-squaddie-turned-personal trainer who is an old friend of Gary Windass (Mikey North).

Kal's first scenes see Gary introduce him to Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin), who has embarked on a fitness regime which isn't going well.

Gary is convinced that Kal can help Dev get into shape in no time, and it's not long before an impressed Dev agrees to hire him.

Played by Jimi Mistry, Kal is a new regular character for Coronation Street and has been tipped to set "tongues wagging and pulses racing" on the cobbles.

Kylie and Nick are incredulous to find that Audrey has allowed David to stay with her. An infuriated Nick tells David to leave the street or he'll tell everyone he tried to kill him.

Later, when Gail hands Kylie an envelope of cash that David gave her, she's incensed and corners him in the salon.

Meanwhile, in the factory, Izzy wonders how Julie is. Julie explains that she's disappointed, but is determined to not let it ruin her life. Izzy doesn't think Julie should give up on her dream, as she didn't with her own. Have Izzy's words of encouragement given Julie food for thought?

Elsewhere, Dev's fitness drive is not going well. Gary suggests Dev meets him in the pub, as he has a friend who can get him in shape in no time. As handsome Kal enters The Rovers, Gary's face lights up.

Also, Dennis and Gloria reminisce about variety acts of yesteryear, but Rita isn't happy.

Kylie is fizzing with barely contained rage and ends up throwing the money back at David. She tells him that they don't need his help and he should stay away. David begs Kylie for a second chance, revealing that he felt suicidal when he found out about her and Nick.

Despite David's pleas, Kylie is adamant they should never be together and leaves him heartbroken. But does Kylie really mean all she says?

Meanwhile, Brian despairs as he tells Marcus that Julie is still harping on about fostering, and he still hasn't told her about the job. Marcus tells Brian that he has to ask himself who's more important - the job or Julie? Which will Brian choose?

Elsewhere, Kal explains to Dev how he left the army to set up his own personal trainer business. They get on well and Dev agrees to hire him.

Also, Todd tells Brian that he wouldn't go out with Sean if he was the last man alive, and Sean is crushed when Brian tells him what Todd said.

Finally, Rita rubbishes Dennis grand plans of music management.

    Wednesday

With Kylie out of the house, David persuades Gail to let him see Max and Lily. Forgetting herself for a moment, Gail is heartened to see her son smiling. However, when Nick lets himself in, he is furious and ejects David out onto the street.

Turning on Gail, Nick issues an ultimatum - she needs to choose, it's either him or David. Struggling to cope with the stress of having a fractured family, Gail is forced to make a heartbreaking decision…

Meanwhile, Marcus tells Brian to be honest with Julie. Todd notices Brian seems troubled, and persuades Marcus to reveal Brian's dilemma. Smarting over his interference with Sean, Todd tells Julie about Brian. Having shattered her dreams, is this the end for Brian and Julie?

Elsewhere, Kal presents Dev with his new fitness plan. Dev is a little daunted and so is Steve when Michelle begins to wonder if she should hire Kal for him too.

Also today, a manipulative Todd tells a hurt Sean that he was only winding Brian up.

Finally, Dennis plans to put a night on at the Bistro with his old friend Ritchie.

    Friday

Gail is tortured by her decision and Leanne tells Nick that David leaving won't bring his health back.

Later, David tells Kylie that he's going for good and he won't need any belongings where he's going. A worried Kylie thinks David is contemplating suicide, but Nick's not so sure...

Meanwhile, downbeat and confused, Julie is struggling to understand Brian's lies. Brian is cursing his own cowardice and stupidity but gingerly asks Julie if they can talk. He tries to explain why he doesn't want to foster, but where do they go from here?

Elsewhere, Dev is ready for his first personal fitness session with Kal, but struggles to keep up with the regime. However, his morale is boosted when Kal says he's done really well.

Also, Dennis and Gloria plan the showcase night with Ritchie, but Rita isn't thrilled.

Finally, an angry Marcus confronts Todd.

Nick realises with horror that David intends to hand himself in to the police. Clearly upset, Kylie goes to The Rovers. Hell bent on self destruction, she descends into a self-wallowing, angry and drunken state.

Later, Nick looks guiltily at a distraught Gail. He's aware that his ultimatum forced her to push David away, and although he has no sympathy for David, he feels responsible for his mum's agony. Will Nick stop David from confessing to the police? And if he does, will it tip Kylie over the edge?

Meanwhile, Brian wonders if he can't be enough for Julie and tries to paint an idyllic picture of their future together in Wales. The job offer is news to Julie and she's devastated to learn that Brian could be so cruel. When heartbroken and angry, Julie suggests he accepts the job. Brian is left wondering where it all went wrong.

Elsewhere, Leanne is grateful when Kal says he'll help with Nick's rehabilitation. But when Nick gives him short shrift, Kal loses his patience and lays into Nick.

Also, Ritchie asks Rita for her input.

Finally, it's clear there's a spark between Todd and Marcus.

He did not try and kill NIck he just tried to stop him going to Leanne. Ask Kylie where Max's daddy is. She is lucky David cared! No one is going to take Kylie on with her irresponsible behaviour and two kids. Kylie to leave please. Nick to follow would be a bonus
