Over on EastEnders, Jake Stone and Lauren Branning are unable to resist the chemistry between them for long.

After moving onto Albert Square with his wife Sadie and daughter Bella, Jake (Jamie Lomas) decides to concentrate on his family life and tells Lauren that they should avoid each other on the Square from now on.

Jake makes a romantic gesture for Sadie.

Sadie is surprised by Jake's romantic gesture.

Jake is committed to getting his marriage fully back on track, but he grows frustrated when Sadie (Kate Magowan) goes against his wishes by getting him a new job at Ian Beale's restaurant.

Happy enough working as a taxi driver and not wanting the added pressure, Jake isn't pleased with Sadie's interference.

Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) visits Jake on his first day at Scarlett's and helps him out when he struggles in the kitchen. Jake pulls away when Lauren leans in for a kiss, but he later decides that she is the only person who really understands him.

Catching up with Lauren, Jake passionately kisses her…

Jake and Lauren continue their affair.

Ava Hartman lies to her son Dexter on EastEnders next week after his father Sam James has left Albert Square.

Upcoming episodes see Ava (Clare Perkins) receive a nasty shock as she learns that Sam only ever came to Walford in the hope that Dexter could donate a kidney to him.

Sam departs the Square after Ava discovers his secret, but Ava can't bring herself to tell Dexter (Khali Best) that his dad has abandoned him all over again.

With this in mind, Ava only tells Dexter a small part of the story - claiming that she didn't want to be with Sam any more and asked him to leave.

Although Ava is trying to spare Dexter any unnecessary heartache, she is only adding to her own problems as an angry Dexter blames her for Sam leaving.

Not wanting to be around Ava anymore, Dexter asks to move in with his grandmother Cora Cross…

EastEnders airs these scenes on Monday, December 2 at 8pm on BBC One.

    Hour-long episode

The chaos in the Butcher household continues and Bianca is furious when Terry Junior ruins her stock for the stall. She is further displeased when Terry arrives home smelling of alcohol when he should have been running errands for her.

Later, Bianca fears that her relationship with Terry is already over when she returns home to find packed cases. However, it turns out that Terry and the kids have sprung into action to tidy the house, wanting to make their living situation easier. Everything seems to be going well until Nikki, Terry's ex-wife, suddenly arrives on the doorstep.

Bianca's nose is immediately put out of joint when Nikki starts lavishing the Spraggan kids with presents, but she reluctantly gives her a chance and invites her to lunch. With Terry forced to work, he has to miss the lunch and Bianca makes it clear to Nikki that she doesn't want her around. However, after a frosty start, they manage to clear the air. When it's time for Nikki to leave, she tells Bianca about Terry's history with women, leaving her concerned…

Meanwhile, Ava hasn't found the right moment to speak to Dexter about Sam leaving. When Dexter becomes concerned over Sam's absence, Ava finally confesses that they have broken up. Dexter immediately blames himself for his dad's departure, so Ava reassures him that he isn't to blame. Lying to her son, she adds that she didn't want to be with Sam and told him to leave. Angry with his mother, Dexter asks Cora if he can move in with her. Ava is upset to realise that she has made everything worse, but she remains defensive when Cora asks her why Sam left.

Elsewhere, Poppy and Fatboy realise that Lola and Peter like each other but are too stubborn to admit it. Poppy vows to get them together, despite Fatboy's protests over their dubious track record with matchmaking. When Peter hears from Poppy that Lola really likes him, he picks up Lola, puts her over his shoulder and walks away so they can talk alone. Peter tells Lola that he likes her and finally kisses her. Although pleased, Lola asks Poppy to keep the new romance a secret as she doesn't want Phil to find out.

Also today, Jake tells Lauren that they should avoid each other on the Square. Sadie also gets Jake a job at Ian's restaurant, but he doesn't welcome her interference. Lauren visits Jake on his first day at Scarlett's and helps him out when he struggles in the kitchen. Jake pulls away when Lauren leans in for a kiss, but he later decides that she is the only person who really understands him. Catching up with Lauren, he passionately kisses her…

Finally, Kat agrees to move back into The Vic, Joey refuses to listen when Kat warns him that he is making a mistake with Janine, Roxy makes a scene when she gets drunk with Carl at The Vic, and Ian unknowingly buys his own stock of mince pies from Fatboy after Peter gives them away to help with the church roof fundraiser

    Tuesday

Alfie is keen to have the best Christmas ever with decorations covering The Vic, but Kat feels that a more private celebration might be best after seeing the state that Roxy was in yesterday. At the same time, Roxy wakes up hungover after her drinking the previous night and she fears that everyone is talking about her. Ronnie soon becomes concerned that Roxy may want to leave Walford and stay with Peggy.

Unsure of what to do, Ronnie asks Phil to help with the situation. Later, Ronnie arrives upstairs at The Vic and drops a bombshell on Kat and Alfie - Phil is selling the pub and they'll have to leave…

Meanwhile, Bianca is struggling to trust Terry after Nikki's comments and asks David for some advice. David then shares Bianca's concerns with Terry, suggesting that he should make the effort to show how much she means to him. Terry doesn't appreciate David getting involved, but he does take the advice. He puts up Alfie's unwanted Christmas decorations at the Butcher house and assures Bianca that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.

Elsewhere, Lauren meets Jake at his flat but they are interrupted when Sadie returns home unexpectedly. As Lauren hides, Sadie tells Jake that she's been trying to get hold of him as Bella had an accident at school. Although Jake and Lauren haven't been caught by Sadie, Jake feels guilty over what happened and tells Lauren that they can't see each other again. However, the excitement of sneaking around has made Lauren even more attracted to Jake.

Also today, David wants to spend Christmas with just the family but Masood makes it clear that Carol will be spending the festive season with him, Janine becomes unsure about Joey when she discovers that he has taken Scarlett out even though she told him not to, Lauren tells Max that she and Abi will spend Christmas with him rather than Tanya, while Max allows Abi to keep a stray dog called 'Tramp' after she rescues him from the street.

    Thursday

'For Sale' sign is placed at The Vic, catching the attention of the locals and shocking Kat and Alfie. Alfie pays a visit to Phil in the hope that he'll change his mind, but the Walford hardman stands firm and confirms that he's throwing them out. As the argument continues, Roxy enters. Phil tells Alfie that the only way he'll reconsider is if Alfie begs for Roxy's forgiveness. Unable to do so, Alfie leaves.

Once Alfie has gone, a cautious Roxy suggests to Phil that he may regret selling The Vic. Phil gives this some thought, but then Alfie hurls the Queen Victoria bust through Phil's window…

Meanwhile, Carol and Joey meet with Alice's solicitor Mr Sager, who suggests that she should plead guilty to lessen her sentence. Carol and Joey then pay a visit to Alice in prison. Joey falsely suggests that Alice has a good chance of winning the trial, but Carol disapproves and decides to tell her the truth - leaving Alice distraught. Alice is devastated further when Carol reveals that Joey is sleeping with Janine.

Later, Janine's uncertainty over Joey is fuelled when David tells her that he has been to see Alice. Janine confronts Joey, who brushes off her suspicions - claiming that he didn't mention anything as he didn't want to worry her.

Elsewhere, Jake once again warns Lauren to stay away from him. Lauren storms back home to find her sketch of Jake on the table, which Max has found, and tears it to pieces.

Roxy Mitchell has a public meltdown in EastEnders next week in the aftermath of her heartbreak over Alfie Moon.

The latest episode of the Walford soap saw Roxy (Rita Simons) break up with Alfie on her wedding day, finally accepting that his heart truly belongs to Kat.

Although Roxy has given the pair her blessing to be together, she loses it next week when she pays a visit to The Vic and spots Kat (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie (Shane Richie) kissing.

Wanting to save face, Roxy starts getting drunk with bad boy Carl White, before causing a scene by playing music on the jukebox and dancing on a table.

Alfie tries to help Roxy as she loses her balance and falls, but she shouts at him to stay away from her…
