on Emmerdale, there's a shocking moment ahead at Home Farm as Declan Macey's temper gets completely out of hand.

Declan (Jason Merrells) is left furious when his plans to sell his properties in the village are jeopardised by his nephew Robbie Lawson and estranged wife Katie Addyman.

Next week's episodes see cash-strapped Declan plot to offload all of his properties as a whole to a businessman named Gil, played by former Brookside and Family Affairs actor David Easter.

The only problem is that Andy Sugden's home Dale View is in Katie's name for tax reasons. Although Katie is unaware of this, it could ruin the entire deal.

Declan immediately tries some underhand tactics with Katie, trying to get her to sign Dale View over by slipping the all-important papers in amongst their divorce documents.

Later, fed up with Declan's bad temper at Home Farm, Robbie decides to cause trouble by tipping Katie off over her ex's sneaky intentions.

When Declan realises that his plans are in tatters and Robbie is to blame, he completely loses it - and it's Megan (Gaynor Faye) who suffers when his fury turns physical…

Robbie tells Katie yet he attacks Megan? Doesn't make any sense. I wonder if Declan is ashamed?

Declan fumes to realise that Robbie was the one who let slip to Katie about her name being on the deeds.

Later, all are shocked by Declan's wild state and Megan suffers when his fury turns physical…

Meanwhile, with the truth out, Rachel worries for her family - will Jai evict Ali and Ruby? At the same time, Rishi attempts to comfort a distressed Jai, who fears his marriage is over. Rishi is full of regret and blames himself, but Jai faces up to the fact it was his own actions that got him in this state. In The Woolpack, Charity lashes out verbally at her family, feeling an idiot for not having seen the signs earlier. She also fears everyone is gossiping about her.

Elsewhere, Sandy probes a squirming Ashley about his supposed crush on Harriet. But it looks like the situation could become more uncomfortable for Ashley as Harriet sets to move in with them.

Also today, David is delighted when Priya tells him that she is keeping their baby, but is Priya clinging on to the idea of a romantic reconciliation? How will Alicia take the news?

    Tuesday

As Megan attempts to conceal her bruise both physically and emotionally, Robbie is suspicious and threatens Declan, convinced that he is behind it. Megan wonders what has become of her brother.

Meanwhile, Priya tells her family of her decision to keep the baby. David sternly informs her that if she wants him to be part of their baby's life, that means including Alicia too. It seems this pregnancy is set to have complications from the outset.

Elsewhere, as Rhona struggles to swallow her antibiotics with the sensation of taking tablets being all too overwhelming, she spits them out. A concerned Paddy wonders why Rhona appears frail and why the medication isn't kicking in. He insists they return to the doctors and Rhona is too weak to protest.

Also today, Charity bluntly tells Noah that Jai is Archie's dad. Debbie warns her not to cut Jai out of Noah's life, as Noah will be the one that suffers.

Finally, Ashley and Harriet look set to go head-to-head for the parish job.

    Wednesday

Feeling low after the fall-out with Noah, Charity considers Priya's advice to talk to Jai. Later, Jai is encouraged when Charity arrives at Holdgate and something in her demeanour has changed.

Although the estranged couple begin making some headway, they quickly come to blows when Charity comes face-to-face with Archie. Charity is furious and tells Jai that she will be filing for divorce.

Meanwhile, in a bid to collect the most money for the Christmas fund, it seems Harriet is prepared to use underhand tactics.

Elsewhere, as Robbie continues to worry for Megan, he enlists the help of Katie to try and talk her round. His plan fails when Megan manages to persuade Katie that all is well in the Macey household. Robbie feels helpless and insists that he will leave rather than stick around and watch Megan stand by Declan, but will Robbie follow through with this?

Also today, Rhona tells Paddy that she has not been taking her antibiotics. She is relieved when Paddy comforts her and reiterates that they will find a way to work through her troubles.

Finally, Jacob clocks the tension between David and Priya, who is determined to keep Alicia out of her baby's life. Pollard urges David to tell Jacob what is going on.

    Thursday

Noah is devastated to learn that Charity is divorcing Jai and quickly sets off to the factory in a quest to find out why. A drunken Charity heads off in pursuit of Noah, but is stung when she arrives to see the obvious close connection between Jai and her son.

Charity does not take kindly to Jai's words and soon takes out her anger behind the wheel of a digger…

Meanwhile, Alicia and David discuss when they should tell Jacob about Priya's pregnancy, both worried about his seemingly insecure state. As David attempts to reassure Jacob that he will always be there for him, the message gets confused and Jacob is soon keenly asking if the two are getting married again. Put on the spot, how will they respond?

Elsewhere, Declan seems pleased at the prospect of Robbie leaving. However, with Megan dressing provocatively and Declan instructing her to do whatever is necessary to seal the deal with Gil, Robbie begins to have second thoughts about leaving.

Also, a confident Harriet loses her buoyancy when she realises that Edna, Betty and Pearl make up the interview panel for the parish job.

Finally, Laurel is choked to read Arthur's Christmas list to Santa - his Christmas wish being for his mum not to go to prison.

With Charity manoeuvring the digger to wreak further damage, Jai makes a surprise move of his own as he picks up a large mallet. Jai knows Charity wants his attention - surely her extreme actions must mean she still has feelings for him?

Later, when Cain goes to Charity's aid, Moira cannot help but feel a tad put out. As Cain tries to comfort and sober Charity up, she misreads the situation and makes a move. How will Cain respond?

Meanwhile, with Jacob still pushing the question as to whether Alicia and David are getting married, he encourages a proper proposal. As David kneels, Alicia wonders if it's for real. How will Alicia respond?

Elsewhere, Megan tries to sweeten the deal with Gil by using all her feminine ways of persuasion. But when he suggests that Megan should come and work with him, she is tempted. Could she have found her way out of this mess?

Also, the interview process begins for the parish position, but who will come out on top - Ashley or Harriet?

Finally, Laurel talks to Arthur about his Christmas wish. She is determined to somehow put things right.

    Friday

Cain does his best not to squirm under Jai's questioning. At the same time, a humiliated Charity wishes the ground could swallow her up whole. Later, a determined Jai takes Charity to a memorable place, a lake where she had promised never to leave him. Charity becomes increasingly frustrated and in a fury throws her wedding ring across the now frozen lake.

Jai is aghast and is determined to get the ring back in a bid to show Charity how much he cares about her and their marriage. He clambers on to the ice to retrieve it, but his demonstration backfires when the ice beneath him begins to crack and he plummets into the freezing water. Will Charity go to his aid, or will the icy conditions turn her heart cold and leave him to face his fate?

Meanwhile, David attempts to tell Priya that he is engaged to Alicia, but cannot summon the courage when he sees her suffering from pregnancy symptoms with sick in her hair. At the same time, Dom catches Alicia wearing her engagement ring.

Also today, Laurel wishes she had listened to Marlon about her statement. Petrified, she wonders what her court case may bring.

Emmerdale businessman Jai Sharma finds himself in terrible danger next week as he tries to win back his wife Charity.

Jai and Charity (Emma Atkins) hit the rocks when she finally finds out the truth about baby Archie's paternity.

In the aftermath of the big reveal, Jai tries to prove how much Charity means to him by retrieving her wedding ring from a frozen lake. However, as Jai does so, the ice beneath him cracks and he plummets into the freezing water…

Here, Chris Bisson - who plays Jai - previews the latest big stunt scenes for Emmerdale.

Once the truth comes out, how hopeful is Jai for the future of his marriage?
"Not very hopeful in the immediate aftermath, it has to be said. The first thing that happens is that Charity leaves immediately, and then it really is down in the doldrums for Jai because his dad's in hospital following his heart attack. Also, Priya and Georgia are not best pleased with either Rishi or Jai. So it's a very complicated time, and in some ways it's kind of a big relief for Jai, because he can actually see Archie.

"But obviously the implications for his marriage are bad, and in the immediate aftermath it really doesn't look like it's going to be repairable, with Charity being the kind of character that she is."

Would you say Jai and Charity had a huge love between them?
"Yeah there is a lot of love there, and actually we do explore some of what's gone on previously. Emma and I did have a conversation about whether Charity has really loved him, and it's quite nice because when we do some of the stunt scenes, we kind of look back at what's gone on previously and reflect.

"It's interesting because obviously Charity is not a squeaky clean character either. Obviously she's slept with Declan, so I think the clever thing about the story that gives them some hope is that the writers have muddied the waters sufficiently so that nobody is squeaky clean and everybody has to forgive somebody a little something. So there is a ray of light, but it's not looking good."

Did Jai expect the truth to come out?
"I think he was completely deluded. He found himself with something that he's always wanted, which is a baby, and the problems that went along with that. Instead of coming clean he just kept digging a bigger hole until he was literally down below ground level.

"Now that the truth is out, Jai is quite pragmatic about it, to be honest with you. He knows that he's hurt Charity and he knows that he's been an out-and-out *******. Because he understands that, he doesn't really think that he deserves to be forgiven and he is quite accepting of Charity's anger and aggression towards it because it's completely justified.

"What's annoying for Charity is that he doesn't rise to it, which makes her worse. She is lashing out, she's very angry and she's going to tear strips off anyone she gets a chance to, so she's not a woman to be crossed at this moment in time."

But there is a moment where Charity pays a visit to Jai at Holdgate and her demeanour seems to have changed…
"Yes, I think what we look at really is Jai's relationship with Noah. Noah is critical to the way this whole story plays out both in the short term and the long term. Jai and Noah are very, very close, and he doesn't like the way his mum is treating Jai. Even though Charity trying in some ways to poison Noah against Jai, he's not accepting it because Jai's been the only father figure to him and has actually been very good to him.

"I suppose from a child's perspective, he doesn't quite understand the wider implications of what's happened. He asks questions like, 'So does that make Archie my brother?' For Noah, that is the only change as far as he's concerned. He doesn't understand love and betrayal and these kinds of emotions at his age.

"What happens is Noah says that he hates Charity and he wants to go home to Holdgate. Debbie is saying to Charity that Noah is important and she should protect him from this. I think it sways Charity slightly. She comes round to Holdgate to collect some other stuff, and there's a little chink in her armour. Firstly, she's turned up, and secondly, she's prepared to talk.

"However, Archie's asleep upstairs and starts crying just as she's agreed to let Jai come out to dinner with her and Noah. Then just to compound things, Rachel turns up as well to collect him. Charity goes flying out the door and that's the end of that."

Charity then gets revenge behind the wheel of a digger, doesn't she?
"Yes, Noah bunks off school and comes to see Jai at work at the factory, where some building work is taking place. Jai is having quite an honest conversation with Noah about what he's done and about the implications of what he's done. Jai admits he's lost everything, but Noah very sweetly says, 'Well you haven't lost me'.

"But then Charity turns up drunk, absolutely inebriated, and looks like the worst mother in the world - she's straight off Jeremy Kyle. She is trying to drag Noah down off the digger and tries to pull him out by his leg. Shortly afterwards, we hear this enormous rumble outside. The digger starts up clearly, and as it swings round, who's behind the wheel but an absolutely inebriated Charity? She proceeds to basically smash Jai's car up with the JCB. It was great fun to film."

Did they really smash up an expensive car for the scene?
"A couple of blocks earlier, my brand spanking Mazda was replaced by a second hand car! It looks very nice and is a very nice car, but it is not as expensive and is something slightly more disposable!"

What is Jai's reaction when he sees Charity behind the wheel?
"As soon as he sees that it's Charity behind the wheel, he knows what she's doing. He's not going to stop her, as he understands why she is so angry. To be honest with you, for Jai the car is the least of his concerns, because he just buys a new one. He's not overly materialistic - Priya fulfils that role with the Sharma house. So Jai effectively disarms Charity by jumping on the car himself and putting a lump hammer through the windscreen.

"Causing some of the damage himself is a clever move in the heat of the moment. Charity is incensed. For the moment she's lost, there's nothing she can really do beyond that. The big gesture that she thought was going to have a huge effect and get a rise out of him hasn't really worked. I think the shape of things to come is that Jai is so guilty and upset about what he has done, so he's very accepting of the punishment that he gets."

    What happens the next day?
"Unbeknown to Jai, Charity had made a pass at Cain after the digger incident, because she's absolutely inebriated. The next day, Jai is driving around the corner and tells her to get in the car. She says no way until Cain walks out. She's avoiding Cain so she jumps into the car. So Jai drives her to a lake - a place that was special to them once upon a time."

Does it work as well as Jai hopes?
"Jai is trying to win Charity back by taking her to this place and reminding her what he went through to get with her in the first place. He reminds her that she'd lied to him when Cain was attacked, because when he was going down, she knew that he didn't leave Cain for dead. She had seen him first and he kind of forgave her that because he loved her.

"Charity doesn't like the emotional pressure and throws her wedding ring onto the icy lake. Then there's kind of a stand-off whereby Jai is determined to get it back because of what it represents. The lake is frozen over so it's a bit of game and brinkmanship with his life. He does know how dangerous ice is, but he's more wrapped up in trying to get Charity to admit that she still loves him."

    What happens next?
"Of course Jai does get the ring, but the ice starts to crack under his feet. He is plunged into very, very cold water. In real life, it was a clearing - almost like a woodland setting. There's a tarmacked area, which was maybe a car park beforehand. In the middle of this car park, they've dug a hole which is six foot deep and big enough for someone to fall into. Then they've filled it with water and then they've covered the entire car park with wax effectively, then they've sprayed a load of fake snow on top of it.

"So when we film it, what you'll see is that Jai walks out across the piece of ice that eventually gives into him. They had the hole in the middle of the car park with all the water in it and they put a board across it for first time I walk across it. Then they took the safety boards out so the next time I step on it, I fall through."

It sounds like a lot of work went into the scenes!
"It's quite a long process because we have to sell the fact that it's actually cold in Emmerdale. For all the scenes we've been filming, we've had the snow men in, you could call them. So in all the other scenes in the episode that you see, you'll notice that it's all frosty behind the characters.

"What they literally do is set the cameras up, the director decides what the shots are, and then the snow guys come and spray fake snow over David's shop, or over the tree that's behind you in the shot. So wherever you look, there are patches of snow over the Emmerdale village - it shows you where we've been filming. It's quite extensive the lengths that they've gone to."

But all the viewers will see is Jai falling into what looks like a very deep lake…
"You would never know, it is the magic of TV. But it was absolutely freezing. I had a wetsuit on, but it was absolutely freezing cold, I was shaking like crazy. They couldn't put warm water in. If any steam came out of it, it would look ridiculous!"

How do you feel about the story coming to an end after so long?
"Well that's the thing - it absolutely hasn't come to its end at all! Definitely there's a lot more Jai and Charity stuff. We are flat out filming at the minute. I think the audience will like it. It's interesting as well because they've been kind of happy for a while now, so it's quite nice playing a kind of rivalry. It's really good fun and there's lots of great stuff to come."
