Coronation Street has picked up the most nominations on the Inside Soap Awards 2013 shortlist.

The Manchester-based drama leads the way this year with 15 nods in total, compared to 13 for EastEnders, 11 for Emmerdale and 9 for Hollyoaks.

This year's 'Best Actor' category will be contested by Coronation Street's Roy Neilson (Roy Cropper) and Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), EastEnders star Jake Wood (Max Branning) and Emmerdale's Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle).

Coronation Street's Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper) and Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre) will go up against Jacqueline Jossa (Lauren Branning) from EastEnders and Emmerdale actress Lesley Dunlop (Brenda Walker).

Meanwhile, this year's 'Best Newcomer' prize is a battle between Coronation Street's Marc Baylis (Rob Donovan), EastEnders' Khali Best (Dexter Hartman) and Ben Hardy (Peter Beale) and Emmerdale's Laura Norton (Kerry Wyatt).

The four big soaps have each scored nominations in the 'Best Bad Boy', 'Best Bitch', 'Funniest Male' and 'Funniest Female' categories.

Home and Away leads the nominations in the daytime soap categories with three nods, including 'Best Daytime Star' nominations for Steve Peacocke (Darryl 'Brax' Braxton) and Emily Symons (Marilyn Chambers). Neighbours and Doctors each have two nominations.

Steven Murphy, editor of Inside Soap, said: "We just can't wait to reveal the worthy winners of this year's Awards. As always, it's the true experts, the readers of Inside Soap Magazine, who choose the winners – no easy task this year, as the competition has been tougher than ever.

"It's been an amazing year in the world of soap, and the Inside Soap Awards are always a fantastic way to celebrate – a night where everyone leaves feeling like a winner."

Readers of Inside Soap - Britain's best-selling soap magazine - began casting their votes for each of the categories in July. The voting has now closed for all categories except 'Best Soap'.

The winners will be announced at London's Ministry of Sound on Monday, October 21.

Votes for 'Best Soap' can be cast via the Inside Soap website.

EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa will be crowned 'Best Actress' at the Inside Soap Awards tonight (October 21).

Jossa has beaten off competition from Coronation Street's Julie Hesmondhalgh and Michelle Keegan, as well as Emmerdale actress Lesley Dunlop.

"It was an honour just to be nominated, as all the other actresses are amazing," Jossa said, according to The Sun.

Jossa's character, Lauren Branning, has featured prominently on screen in the last year due to her battle with alcohol addiction.

More recently, she has struck up a relationship with recovering alcoholic Jake Stone (Jamie Lomas), despite her previous unresolved feelings for cousin Joey Branning (David Witts).

EastEnders' Gillian Wright (Jean Slater) took home the prize for 'Best Actress' last year.

It was announced yesterday that Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan will be crowned 'Sexiest Female' for the fifth consecutive year.

The Inside Soap Awards take place tonight at Ministry of Sound in London.
